Satellite U405D - several questions about overheating/disassembly/upgrading etc.

Hello

I have several questions about my old one by Satellite U405D-S2910

1. when it works, after 2-3 hours (I run usually small programs such as safari, msn messenger and bsplayer) CPU gets 85 to 90 C (178-188). When I play age of Empires 2 (come on, its an old game) like 2-3 hours, it stops. What could be the possible reason? Furthermore, let me inform you about the climate of the city I live, 30 c temperature - humidity 25-35% (today).
PS. CPU is AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor. Model RM-74

2. I'm going to disassemble my laptop in order to clean its cooling units (I think at the rate of overheating is this). It does seem like a desktop computer, so complicated. Ive seen a disassembly not to not (btw, its so difficult to spell dismantling :) I think Im going to do this. What are your suggestions on this subject? experiences could help me?

3. my laptops is Ram 2x2gb PC5300 DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM memory, I want to replace RAM memory 2x2gb MACH XTREME DDR2 1333 MHZ CL9 NOTEBOOK. Should I do it? Fit my portable, stable work? any suggestions?
PS. motherboard chipset AMD M780V

4 - Finally :), should I use OS 64 - bit or 32-bit OS (win7)? what OS would you use if you were me?

Thank you.

Hey Buddy,

1 + 2. I think everything is related to a higher internal temperature and you must clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. That is why it s not necessary to remove, just blow softly and soon the air through the laptop. You can buy such compressed air which squirts of each computer store I think and it takes only 5 minutes.
You can find a useful article about this here:

3. in my opinion he should forget this update! The speed of the RAM is related to the FSB of the CPU and as much as I know about Satellite U405D it s 667 MHz so it s already the RAM faster than you can have. Save your money and buy a larger HARD drive or in the best case a SSD that can really improve the performance!

4. in my view, the answer is clear: Windows 7 64-bit.
Only a 64-bit OS supports full 4 GB of RAM. ;)

    Hi all

I have read a number of thread on this forum regarding the work (or not!) with the P100 series fans.
I use Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) I've updated my DSDT with a custom compiled version and also uses the version 3.30 BIOS... I had to do in order to get the sound working on this laptop.

However, I noticed that the fan on the left side of the laptop never turns under Linux. It turns on with XP.
The fan at the back of the computer seems fine no lights when the CPU is running...

    What is the GPU fan?
Nobody knows if this will be quickly resolved... I raised a few applications support with Toshiba in the hope that it will make a difference.

Also doesn't someone at - it will suspend / hibernate works correctly (i.e. sound and networking works when he took over)...

    Thank you

This will not work, im have the same Toshiba model. The BIOS has a big problem and it's bugged.
IM tested all combinations, no results.

  • Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features

I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.

    (1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?

    (2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?

    (3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?

    (4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?

    (5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?

    Hello

    I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
    2 - Yes.
    3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
    5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created.

In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Several Questions about educational Versions of the software

Well, I have several questions about teaching from Adobe software.  I will attend school in the near future (now I'm not enrolled in any type of school) and I see that Adobe has huge discounts on "educational software".

What exactly is the difference between the "commercial" version of a program and an educational version?  Do you need some kind of student card to activate an educational version, or proof that you are in school, or something special like that?  I noticed people unopened sell educational versions on eBay and I heard there is no differences between the software, but this makes me wonder... why the price difference?

Also, I intend on buying another Mac in the near future - probably for the school.  My second question is - with this software (education), is that I can put programs on my desktop and my laptop, or they won't work on one person on one computer?  I've heard people that serial numbers cannot be activated so many times.

Last question.  My HDD recently crashed and I lost a good bit of things and had to re - install everything.  If this would never happen again, reinstall all Adobe programs on a hard drive nine?  Or I will meet the all 'serial numbers cannot be activated so many times?

Very well.  I think about the fact.  Any input would be great.  Thank you.

    -Mike

In terms of content, there normally is no real difference between the editions of the retail and educational/student. There may be some additional fonts or clip art in the commercial version, but this varies from one version to the other, and a product.

You must qualify to buy an educational/student version. These qualifications are listed on the Adobe Web site. Normally, you must provide proof of reserve that sells licenses of software for you. You can not buy now for the reason that you will be a student in the future. You must have purchase student status.

Unlike versions of retail, education/student Adobe versions software are not transferable. Sale of such software 'closed' on eBay must be regarded with suspicion. Adobe resellers do not offer software on eBay sales. The software is either stolen, used (but reconditioned), or pirated goods.

Most of the Adobe software, including the Creative Suite software, can be activated at the same time on two computers owned and used by a single individual. second computer is usually a laptop, if first computer is a computer at home for students. For retail sales, usually first computer is a desktop computer and the second computer is a mobile computer or at home. Computers must not run the software at the same time. And No, two students may not share a single copy on two separate computers.

The software can be turned on and off but after 20 or if these cycles, you will need to call Adobe and explain what is happening to get characters such cycles. If you are enabled on both systems and a hard drive or a computer turns off and you need to reinstall the software without having the possibility to disable the system blew, Adobe activation support group normally will be granted an additional activation, assuming that you do not have a record of abusing the privilege (as your hard drive breaks down once a month!).

  • Satellite A350D - 20K - Question about upgrade second HDD + Temperature

I have a question about my laptop. I have notticed it is a second location of HARD disk on the bottom.
Is it possible to use this to increase my storage?
And if yes, how do I do that? I don't see all the connectors.
What type of HARD drive to use in case it is possible to use this slot machine?

My second question is on my laptop to be very hot after a short period of use.
I installed speedfan to record the temperature. When I start the laptop, it already is between 45 and 50 degrees.
He stayed there for half an hour and then it starts to get warmer. When I start to use the laptop for anything, it triggers to between 70 and 80 degrees.

This does not seem normal to me. I tried to clean the vents with compressed air, but it has not made a difference.
I searched on the internet how to take the laptop part for proparly cleaned TI.
But I can't so I'm looking that destroy it.

This could be the cause and more importantly, how can I solve this problem?

    Tom

The second HARD drive bay contains the HARD drive connectors?
If Yes, then you can use a SATA 2.5 HARD.
If there are no connectors, then you will not be able to use the second HARD drive

    > I have installed speedfan to record the temperature. When I start the laptop, it already is between 45 and 50 degrees. He stayed there for half an hour and then it starts to get warmer. When I start to use the laptop for anything, it triggers to between 70 and 80 degrees.

CPU and GPU produce a lot of heat. The heat dissipation is always created then there s nothing unusual that the temperature rose to higher level.
You can change the settings in Win 7 power management. You can set the CPU to lower performance and can increase the activity of fan, which will help lower the temperature.

  • Satellite 1900-303: Question about upgrade video card

I have satellite 1900 - 303 and want to somehow upgrade the video card. Is that someone has an idea that is possible or not and if yes how and where to buy a new one.
    Thank you

    Hi Galin,

It is generally not possible to update the graphics card in a notebook. They are generally adapted to fit the available space and also specially designed drivers that are specific to your model of laptop. It is also quite common for them to use the RAM shared rather than having their own chip RAM (although some later model specifications have dedicated for graphics RAM).

You can check in your advanced (from Control Panel) display options if you can adjust the RAM available for your graphics card.

  • Recently bought a laptop computer; A few questions about the offer Upgrade to Windows 8

I have a few questions about the Upgrade of Windows 8 offer for new computers.  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5268 of amazon.com, which came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Toshiba already has a beta version of drivers and utilities for Windows 8 for the S855 on their Web site.

    (3) if I will be able to burn the installation media, I'll be able to erase my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 8 (which I'd rather do, I have a lot of backups of my data).  I am aware that I would probably need to provide my product key Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM during the new installation, because it is an upgrade and not a full version; This isn't a big deal, because my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM product key is stuck at the bottom of my laptop.

Yes, the registration period is between June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013.
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

Yes, the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 will allow you to create a bootable DVD or you can grab the ESD file and save it.

Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

Hi I am just learning the concept of Service Push on BlackBerry

I have several question on initiator to push:

-If there are a lot of app activate push (client), can push initiator must send request message (for the customer)?, or Push initiator must send for each customer (so should send 10 times so have 10 client)?

There's a ceiling / push message max can send daily (free)? I intend to send message 3 to 5 a day

-Is there a max client limit / receiver (on free)? What about 1,000,000 customer

-Can I send ads or promotion on push message?

    Thank you

    Hello

Grand tour of questions, I'll do my best address:

    (1) are you referring to multiple devices or multiple different applications? I'll answer both:

Features: A push message can be sent to one or more devices. So, you can send a surge of broadcast to all registered devices.

Applications: Push accounts don't support a single application, there is a 1:1 relationship. You can, however, apply to many accounts to push. We have some suppliers with dozens of accounts.

    (2) push is only offered as a free service today. There are daily caps imposed, but these caps can be * very * flexible (we can always increase your cap if necessary).

    (3) there no limit to how many customers once your account grow flies over to the production server. For the test, we need each account to start pushing the testing server which limits the number of users at 50.

    (4) at present there is no restrictions on the content of the payload to push. We do not recommend an option to allow users to not receive messages however push.

Trying to fix a Satellite U405D-S2874 for a friend.
As a first step, that it won't turn. Once I have re-seated hard drive, it turned on and starts very well.

However, he still intermittently will not be powered from a power off State. I get a few indicators as power, load, etc., but at least I see Satellite logo light up, I know that it won't start/turn on fully and I get nothing on the screen.

What is a problem with the hard drive, or the connection of drive hard, or...? I was wondering if we buy a new hard drive online, that will fix the problem.

    Thank you
    John

    > What is a problem with the hard drive, or the connection of drive hard, or...? I was wondering if we buy a new hard drive online, that will fix the problem

I put t think that this problem could be linked to the defective HARD drive.
Usually, the laptop must be able to turn on and the BIOS splash screen should be visible even if the HARD disk is defective.

Moreover in most cases a message or underscore flashing appears on the screen if the HARD drive is malfunctioning

However, it is possible to check the status of the HARD drive.
Download the tool called Drive Fitness Test and test the HARD drive by using this software.
If some errors would be detected, then you must replace the HARD drive.

But if the HARD drive is ok, then I would recommend checking the RAM modules first.
Test the laptop with a test module. Try the two slots.

If it would not help you, then a motherboard must be verified but generally it is a work of a technician for laptop

    Hello

I have a SP4600 and because I love this machine, I want to give him the chance to stay with me - but unfortunately, it will only work by increasing its performance...

Is anyone here has made some experiences in upgrading a SP4600 more than 512 MB of RAM?

But someone has tried successfully to put in PC133 memory? And if so, to were the limit?

And more: what about the upgrade of the rest, for example, the CPU or the whole motherboard?

You can only use the memory 100 Mhz modules because the FSB is limited to 100 MHz.
If you use 133 Mhz modules, they will work only at 100 Mhz.

  • Satellite A200-1CR: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hi all...
I would like to ask something...

I have toshiba Satellite A200-1cr with 120 GB HARD drive...

I would like to change my HARD drive. I found a disk hard 2.5 "with 250 GB.

    My questions are the following:

    (1) my knowledge of the workstations are very very good. Is it easy to change myself?
I guess it is, but I want to be sure... I guess that is on IDE, right? No SATA at all?

    (2) if I changed it I lose my warranty?

    (3) can I give my laptop Toshiba in Greece official store and let them make the change?
May I take in an informal shop, too?

    (4) can be put on the laptop 2 x 250 GB such US new computers laptops from toshiba?
Is there enough space in the laptop for such a change?

    Thank you in advance...

    Hey Buddy

It is good that ask you the question.

    (1) the Satellite A200-1CR supports SATA and no IDE interface and that's why you need a SATA HDD. It of really not difficult to replace the HARD drive and as far as I know, you should find a few details in the user manual. There is a useful statement and photos that explain the entire procedure.

    (2) hm AFAIK the drive replacement HARD will not void the warranty, and has no effect on the State of security.

    (3) you can also contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for a HARD drive replacement, but in my opinion that is not really necessary because the replacement is not very sensitive. As I said above, check the user manual.

    (4) I don t think that your laptop will support 2 x 250 GB HARD drive.
Of course, there are a few other series laptops which are abele to support two hard drives but I n t think that your laptop A200 support.

Just a small comment on the new HARD drive:
The fact is that some more HARD drive are not supported by the BIOS. I mean an upgrade to 120 GB to 250 GB drive HARD is really a leap one possibly your BIOS would not recognize the HARD drive correctly.
So I recommend to test the HDD first before buying.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A50 543: Questions about upgrading the HARD drive

I'm looking to upgrade the internal hard disk on my A50 543 to 100 GB at 7200 RPM. The original drive is a Fujitsu 60GM 4200. I have found no information on the Internet on other readers line CMS that have been tested and found compatible with the A50. I need at least 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM to edit video.

Suppliers meet usually only with so many laptops on the market, they cannot test each hard drive with any laptop, but can tell if it is compatible with the specifications of the computer and the hard disk specifications and are so confident that their information is accurate that they offer a money back guarantee (excluding shipping costs)

    My question is
    (1) how can I be sure that the drive will work (considering the high international shipping costs) to 100%?

    (2) none of the contributors to this forum may recommend a hard drive internal 5400 RPM or more it has installed on the same model specification?

Thank you. You are my last hope

    Best regards
    Vince

    Hello

If you want to be 100% sure that works on your HARD drive, so I think the best way is to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Here, you can order all the devices and parts compatible and supported.
I also found these Toshiba hard disks that must be compatible:
    HDD2187B 20 GB 4 200
    HDD2190B 40 GB 4 200
    HDD2193 40 GB 5 400
    HDD2189B 60 GB 4 200
    HDD2194 60 GB 5 400
    HDD2188B 80 GB 4 200
    80 GB 5 400 HDD2191

In this case, you can use a disk HARD of GB 5 400 80 but I put t found no information about 100 GB of HARD drive.

  • Several questions about Satellite C850 and L850

    Hello

One of our schools recently brought 20 L850 and C850 Toshiba computers laptops.
As most of the staff allows to connect to his projector VGA port, VGA The port must be strong.

In recent days, we had 2 laptops with the Port VGA brought away from the laptop!
Just one thumb on the cable when connected breaks this port,
and we cannot obtain compensation from Toshiba, because it is our fault and has only 1 YEAR!
Fixing this problem will cost us an entirely new mobo that will most likely cost to buy a new laptop.

Out of the 20 that we made we had more half with its imperfections within the first year of use. * under the EU regulations with respect to the point of being quality market and adapted to the use that these issues should be fixed for at least 3 years from the date of purchase if not, the item is unsuitable for sale.

Other issues we have had with these laptops within the first year of purchase were overheating, with the Fans to stop.

We had a hard drive replaced TWICE with us having to buy one ourselves because Toshiba has refused to replace it as it was out of warranty of 2 weeks. (in only 1 year warranty)

And finally a L850 that won't start. It stops at the Toshiba before even loading screen to the BIOS. (faulty CPU or memory) Once again this cell rupture within 2 years.

REPORT QUALITY / PRICE? I do not.

I think of course to departs Toshiba laptops in the future for our chain of 18 schools which are due to cell replacements.

We have also more than 100 HP Compaq Laptops in 2 schools in 2009, once is not what we asked HP for repairs. What happened to good quality computers laptops these days...?

And what happened to the screws next to the VGA port to hold the laptop VGA cable to prevent the VGA problem...

    Not at all impressed.

    Hello

Sorry to hear all this. Of course, this isn't the best advice on Toshiba laptops, but the first thing that I m wondered after reading your ad was: why they bought these models L and C?

Like any other laptop manufacturer Toshiba offers various models with different hardware platforms and different prices. Following my logic books used in the school must be fairly robust and designed to be more in use. If you compare the L and C series laptops with notebook series P for example, you will notice the difference in design, quality and manufacturing.

Of course, there are big price difference and I can't imagine school have little budget and must turn to get machines but also save money.

What else can be said? It's really annoying to have this kind of problems, especially if you need these machines to work. My only advice to you is to pick up more info on laptops of next time. It can be Toshiba or any other laptop manufacturer. Best thing you can do is to contact your local dealer and check several different models. Focus on quality and design.

    Bye and good luck
