Satellite U500 - 1-8 - a few questions

Hello everyone.

I have a Toshiba U500 - 1 8. I bought it in Poland.
I have a few questions on this model.

1. why not have this model: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/product-support?

2. is it possible to do an internal 3 G modem? (according to the technical specification, played with 3 G modem U500)

3. is it possible to swap the video card for GF GT540M?

Best regards

> 1. Why not have this model: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/product-support?
First of all it is a user to user forum and I don t think that that these questions could be answered by the users of the common forum
I can only assume why you don't find this unit maybe it was not to add to the store of data or similar

The point is that U500 - 1 8 belongs to the series of PSU9ME like the other c U500
So if you need the drivers for this device, I recommend you to choose this series manually on the European driver Toshiba page.

> 2. is it possible to do an internal 3G modem? (according to the technical specification, played with 3 G modem U500)
According to the specifications of the U500 8 - 1, the 3 G module is not available for this device.
The computer laptop WiFi and BT only supports

> 3. is it possible to swap the video card for GF GT540M?
No, the GPU is part of the mobo.

    Hello

My first Toshiba laptop and my first post here.

This is the Satellite U500-17f, Windows 7 Home premium x 64

I have a problem with nvidia powermizer, nvidia g210m gpu does not go to 3d in 2d clocks or low power on battery and plugged in.
The result is that the battery life is shorter than 1 hour, and the laptop is hotter.

I tried to reinstall the Toshiba 186.42 nvidia driver but nothing changes.
The recovery is not an option.

  • A few questions about Satellite Pro P4600

    Hey ^ ^

I have a few questions on my Satellite Pro 4600

    1. How do I remove the keyboard of an intern?

    2. How can I open the laptop, to add a pci card? or watsch the CPU?

    THX!

    Hello

to remove the keyboard, simply remove the long plastic on top of the keyboard cover. Just take a flat blade screwdriver gently push the upper part where the F1 - F12 keys are under the plastic cover and the elevator that plastic cover.

Why do you want to open your machine? You want to install an additional WIFI card or what? And what do you mean with "watsch" the CPU?

    Could you please clarify it?

  • Satellite L650-11R - a few questions about this

    Hello there :-)

I have a few questions about my new L650.

I've never had Toshiba notebook before so I apologize if some of these "quirks" are actually quite normal on this laptop. I really want to hear the views of other users L650.

    1)
First of all, by the time I turned it on I saw gradient thin (1-2 mm) along the right edge of the screen that goes from the bottom up. Maybe "degraded" isn't the right word, but it seems that since two or three pixels are kind of discoloration or lose brightness/sharpness to the edge along the straight bezel. It is not really that visible, looks like the colors are desaturated a bit here or brightness is a bit lacking. He can be seen everywhere (bios or no color in Windows, but better in the lighter background).
The left side (or other) seems ok, all this along the right edge is somewhat suspicious. If one can compare? I don't know if it's something to worry about or is just supposed to be like that.

    2)
The other thing I noticed heating of the processor (Intel i3 330M) and GPU (ATi Mobility Radeon 5650). It's pretty hot here right now (I would say that the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius when using cell phones). He is sitting on the hard surface (table) and nothing is blocking the vents.
However, at "rest" (surf the web & regular light stuff), average CPU temp hovers around 58 ° C. It usually goes from 45 to 62 in just a few minutes after starting, and then I can hear and see (Toshiba PC Health Monitor) evacuate the kicks in. Temp goes back to 50 +, event stops and then the temp rises to 60 + until the vent is used again.
During load full (Prime95 or some games), CPU is going all the way up to 75 degrees (the highest being 77). Fan runs at 75 to 77% during this time, never go faster.

GPU idling is usually around 5 degrees above temp CPU (62-65). During full load (for example. Benchmark of Far Cry 2), I see a lot of stuttering with the latest drivers Catalyst and DX10 (not sure if the stuttering has something to do with heat), otherwise it is ok (no artifacts or anything like that). Temp of GPU during the loading goes up to 74-75, fan speed is locked at 30%, the frequency of the heart 5650 is 450 MHz. left side of the laptop (vent and below) is pretty hot, while the keyboard is warm (or slightly warmer who who).

These time seems correct and safe in the long term? I'd rather events works all the time (they aren't really very strong) and keeping time less than 50, but there are just wishful pious bios control events and I can't control not the bios. :-)

    3)
This is just General related products. :-)
Official specifications of Toshiba L650 say ATi 5650 (between other low range GPU), but I saw a few specifications calling for there 5730 (same model 11R). Is there really a Satellite L650 with ATi 5730 GPU models?

Sorry for the long post, I tried to include the best possible description that I could do. :-)

    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the additional info!

    I want to buy the Toshiba PA3927E - 1PRP Dynadock U3
is it a good idea for it?

    Best regards

All these questions different so let's start with first.

    > simple I can install windows 8 Professional on the current installation?

Read this FAQ from Toshiba document. It provides all the answers and a detailed instruction.
[How to change Windows 8 for Windows 8 Pro | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD2B03F20002R01.htm]

    > what driver, software installed and other toshiba?
Windows 8 uses the same drivers as Pro

    > What about the view when I run the u920t with an external monitor?
What do you mean exactly? You can use internal display, external display or both at the same time

    > I want to buy the Toshiba PA3927E - 1PRP Dynadock U3

    Hello

Here, a few questions about the number:

    (1) usually, you should get the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD. If you didn t receive this DVD then you can order it here https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you could install the disc of Microsoft Vista.

    (2) of course, you can do this. I think that Win XP drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

    (3) Yes, you can upgrade the RAM. For more information, see your manual or search on this forum for similar topics

    (4) maybe it s associated with the graphics driver. Check if you can update. I would recommend additional check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS

  • A few questions about Toshiab reocvery disk for Satellite P300-133

    Hello guys,.
I had a few questions about unpleasant surprises of recovery:

(* 1) * I just make recovery DVD using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator and he asked initially for 2 DVDs - but when one has been done it does not require a second blank DVD. Is it possible all the Windows Vista system files to write on 1 DVD?

(* 2) * if I could reinstall Windows Vista using recovery of HARD drive option (by pressing F8) without using the recovery DVD?

(* 3) * HARD drive partitions that will be formatted (just system C: or C: and E :) using HARD drive recovery?

(* 4) * what is DVD - Image of the hard drives or the installation of Vista recovery files?

Its pretty bad idea to not include BONES on DVD when I paid for it.
Thanks for all the Toshiba problems :(

    1. I think the recovery disk creator means 2 CDs. I also have a Portege M700 with Windows Vista and a DVD. I got it and after that, I have a clean install of Vista with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba. Nothing is missing.

    2. Yes, you can reinstall Vista using recovery of HARD drive option when you press F8 at startup. You don't need the recovery DVDs, but you should create a when your HARD drive get some errors or something else. If you need a new recovery DVDs, you paid for one.

3 HARD drive and complete partitions will be formatted, so backup your data first on a DVD disk external DRIVE, USB stick or something else.
After the reinstallation, you have factory settings.

    4. the recovery DVDs is an image of the HARD disk on the factory settings. If you perform a recovery, there are all the drivers and tools are already installed. Of course, on the disk are files of installations of Vista, but you can use this DVD on your Satellite P300. The disc cannot be used on another Satellite or on a PC.

If you have any other questions, take a look in the user manual. There are a number in the formations of the recovery. It s in Chapter 3.

  • A few questions about the feature Satellite A300D - 14 p

I have the model Satellite A300D - 14 p a month. 2-year warranty. I have a few questions and ask for help and suggestions I have to do?

    * My quality of the camera * is VERY poor, with a lot of light on, I can get image quality generally ok. Inside, next to turned on the two options, night mode, or backlight compensation, I can hardly see my face, very dark and very bad quality. Second problem, it is a blue led light, it is annoying because half of the picture is always blue, somehow made light photo half which is always blue:(((j'ai utilisé modèle portable L300 série (moins cher que le mien) with the same device and that blue light, it works perfectly :()

    * Autonomy and start up Vista OS *? In little 1.5 hour energy saving mode? Surf train and nothing else... I asked Toshiba support here in Serbia in this respect and they told me that it is normal and measure the battery life (2,... h) by specifications, this is when my screen is off and computer do nothing? They also said that starting normal time for Vista OS is maybe more around 1.45 min?

If I install win XP is it possible to get longer battery life?

I have to go in service Toshiba or what?

Thank you very much and sorry if I'm boring :)))

    Nikola

    Hay Nikola

You are not boring at all and welcome to this forum.

    I don't know where to start. ;).

I have Satellite A300-1LI in front of me and I use it about a month now. Startup time is very interesting theme and with a good configuration, you can optimize and make much shorter as with factory setting. Please read a very interesting thread about it under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=134947
Do the same with your Satellite and I hope that you will be satisfied.

Battery operating time? I have to say that information about two hours are realistic and I can confirm that. The same thing on my Satellite. But to be honest for mobile computing, it's OK. I've changed several notebooks and just business laptop Tecra had to linger battery operation. What you can do is check the Toshiba support site and look for info on the more powerful battery. I don't know, but you can use the battery (Li-ion, 9 cell, 6000mAh).

On cam, I can't say much. It works on my Satellite on OK and I am satisfied. OK quality is not the same as for integrated cam but good external webcams it's OK.
If you are not satisfied with trying to speak with the nearest service or try to compare it with some other Satellite by your local dealer.

If Nikola, if you have more questions please post again.

Hey there, fellow buyers of Toshiba.

I have a few questions on prod. recovery on my laptop.

    * Is _First, safe? _ *
Because my sister it on his Vista laptop (a Toshiba) and finished with a BSOD and a trip to the PC world for a replacement HARD drive.
    -----

    * _Third, I am formatting due to incompatibility with some applications, namely 32 bit ones._*
I can somehow incompatible lance 32-bit on my 64-bit?

YES, I backed UP MY DATA (here, that goes with the words "I have no sti - oh, wait, what's that noise clicking / grinding?")? I just do not feel comfortable with the formatting yet until I know answers to these questions, but there again, I have only 200 MB left of C: (go, 250 GB in 8 months?) and need the return performance (GHIII and GTA: San Andreas used at 40 fps, but now play them is wading through treacle (LAG)!) Please respond quickly, and I look forward to answers!

    Toby

    Hello

    > First of all, is it safe?

    recovery process is completely safe.

    > Second, he will restore C: and D:, or just C:?

He will restore the os with the settings on drive C;. Local d it will create image file from hard drive which I know.

    > Can I run 32-bit incompatible somehow on my 64-bit?

It depends on the application. I mean, do a right-click on the application and choose properties where you can Compatible mode.

    > Finally, it clears so Ubuntu?

If it is installed on local d: I guess that will erase. To be honest, is not sure

  • A few questions about Satellite A100

    "A100" computer laptop with Vista A software? Â £349.00

This is the laptop that I am looking for my partner, but I'm not really savvy, I have a few questions which I hope you can help me with computer.

First of all, my partner has just started a small business and she will need it for email and internet surfing and download songs (Please keep in mind, I don't have a lot of money to play with) this laptop will be all good for her? Speed and a lot of memory is not what really matters.

Secondly, this laptop can burn music and DVDs on a disc?

Third, it is a good price? the laptop is for sale with LITTLEWOODS and I can still go down 10%.

Please help as soon as possible because I need to order it in the next few days, please, do not forget to budget and the need for a half decent mid-range laptop.

Mant thanks for your help in this matter

    Russell

    Hi Russell,

From your description of the use to which this laptop will be, I would have no concern that this should work great. You say exactly what A100 model you propse to buy, but I think they all had an optical drive DVD - RW installed so that they should all be able to burn CDs and DVDs in an adequate way. With regard to Internet access and e-mail, the A100 will be quite able to do both functions.

A £349 price is extremely competitive, given that most of the models seem to retail at around the label has £400 with a 10% discount axtra I would waste no time in pulling it.

By the way, welcome to the forum, it is an excellent source of information and help.

    Kind regards

  • Re: A few questions about the Satellite L300 - 145 (PSLB0E)

    Hello

I have a few questions that make me go nuts.

1 - this laptop what chipset is actually uses? GL960 and GM965? Since it has 2 GB max ram I would say GL960, but that one is capped at 533 mhz and 667 mhz are the Rams came with the laptop. Also the name of drivers chipset gm965, said, I don't know if it's the name for the entire group of chipsets or if it's really a GM965. And also GL960 has no integrated graphics, but this laptop only, and GM965 has an integrated graphics card.
to prove that I do things to the top you go here:
    [https://ark.intel.com/products/29830 | https://ark.intel.com/products/29830] GL960
    [https://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller | https://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller] GM965

2 - if it's a GM965 why the computer only suports laptop 2 GB ram max, while officially the suports 4 GB chipset?

3 - Why is there not a page on the website of toshiba (al less in the Web site code) which tells me the full specifications for this laptop, as if there is a page for others more recommended laptops?

    Post edited by: Kailido

Your phone has Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset inside and can handle with 2 GB of RAM only and you can use the monitoring modules:
    1 GB-DDR2-667-PA3512U-1M1G
    2 GB DDR2-667-PA3513U-1M2G

Unfortunately I can't answer your last question. This question is for Toshiba directly.

  • A few questions on Satellite P100-188

Hi, I have a few questions about my new machine I bought recently so please bare with me during their reading...

    (1) I already owned the P30-145 and the sound was superb. The P100-188 is supposed to have the HD + sound stronger. I don't think so... This thing is much quieter and more slender compared to my previous machine!

    (2) the Nvidia badge sticker is missing inside! Normally I would not be embarrassed, but there is a small indentation carved especially for her with nothing on it! - and so a strange look.

    (3) in the bios, there is an option to change the amount of "fan noise" makes the machine. I've set it to 'performance', which is the option to forget noise and go full steam ahead. However, the fan harldy lights! Every now and then, he gives a quick 2 second air burst.

The other day, I was playing the new game 'fear' that works amazingly I would say. But STILL the fan doesn't seem to turn on a large part. I worry a little bit, I must say.

If anyone has read the lot of this right, thank you. Also could you please answer if you had similar problems with yous P100s.

    Thank you

    Hello

    1. as far as I know this unit P100 speakers are placed under the keyboard.
On other units, the speakers are placed above the keyboard. If you use the keyboard it of possible you hands cover the speakers. It is also possible that the volume of the speaker is a little lower because of the miniaturization of portable. However, you cannot compare different notebooks series because strains have another advantage than the other series.

2 I read your first assignment on the missing sticker and I can t believe that such thing is a really a problem for your. I'm don't know if all the P100 was delivered with or without the sticker, but you can contact the dealer where you purchased this device and ask him a label. However, my laptop has not even a sticker, and it's not a problem for me.

3 if the fan is set to performance so that means that CPU notebooks will run with a full performance, which is possible. In this case the CPU is going to produce a lot of heat and the cooling module must run with maximum performance to cool the CPU and decrease the temperature. If temperature decreases the arrested fan or run with low performance. It is a simple fact.

  • Re: A few questions about the Satellite P200 - 1FC

    Hi people,

died on my trusty laptop and I need a new. The P200 - 1FC seems to do the trick, and I have a few questions that I hope this is the right place for.
Is there a hardware switch (or key combination) to disable the touchpad? Y at - it an indicator of the State of the touchpad?
Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless network components?
Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?

I know you can Filch system memory to increase the available for graphics operations, but is it more logical to add system memory or add graphics memory.

What is the equipment for the memory locations system config factory base with 2 GB of RAM? There are 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?

How is it difficult to "downgrade" to XP machine? Will there be XP drivers available for all components?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

I m P200 not owner, but I'll try to answer your questions.

    > Is there a hardware switch (or key combination) to disable the touchpad?
Yes, the FN + F9 key combination should enable and disable the touchpad!

    > Is it an indicator of the State of the touchpad?
Well, in the taskbar you should get a notification icon if the touchpad has been disabled

    > Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless network components?
Yes, the WLan switch is available on laptop computers (probably on the front).

    > Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
No, the graphics card supports an its own local cache. Graphics cards support also hyper memory. This memory hyper depends on the amount of main memory. Total video memory is the sum of the local cache and Hyper memory.
But once again; physical memory cannot be added.

    > What is the load out for the locations of system memory in config factory base with 2 GB of RAM? There are 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
There are 2 slots of memory and the laptop has been delivered with 2x1024Mo modules.
The laptop supports 4 GB max memory, but as much as I know Windows 32 bit does recognize only 3.02 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS!

    > How is it hard to "downgrade" to XP machine? Will there be XP drivers available for all components?
It of not difficult to downgrade the laptop to the XP operating system.
    On the Toshiba site
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
You should find all the drivers for the P200 PSPB6 XP

  • Satellite U500 - Bluetooth emits BT monitor vs Bt Stack

    Hi all

    My wife machine is a Satellite U500 - 10 L PSU5EE-002003AR, now with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (originally with pre-installed Vista, later with W7Pro 32-bit).

Now, I always had various problems with Bluetooth on this machine, and it is the only machine I've ever had problems of Bluetooth with, for the most part related to connectivity to the internet via mobile phones.

More generally, I connect to the internet using a mobile phone to control Bluetooth Sony Ericsson and Sony Ericsson PC Suite software (currently and elm and occasionally a hazelnut or a C702.) This configuration has always worked without problem on all the other machines I used, like my Getac B300, the old HP Compaq 6710 b given to me by my former employer for a few years and even my old Thinkpad T42 (now deceased) and my mother's old Macbook untrustworthy. With these machines, I've never had problems connecting to one of the phones or internet, without any drops of connection or any other problem issues.

Not the same with this U500. I write this when connected through PC Suite, Bluetooth Monitor 4 as the hardware controller. The connection is intermittent at best, usually unreliable and sometimes downright impossible. Sometimes it works perfectly for days at the end, and sometimes it just refuses to work. As a general rule, however, get a connection more often than otherwise, but the question is annoying nevertheless.

Now, I tried a different approach: I uninstalled Bluetooth Monitor and SE PC Suite, installed the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack and tried to connect to the internet directly through the BT stack. I paired the Elm to the U500 successfully from the BT Stack Panel and managed to establish the connection, well. But I had no internet access whatsoever. Now, the phone shows that it is actually connected and if the BT stack control panel and monitor Windows 7 connection in the system tray, but there is no real access to the internet (I have only the small yellow triangle with the no message + internet access, but the phone is dialed in.)

Then, I tried to reinstall PC Suite (with BT present Stack), and things became even worse: now the BT itself between PC Suite and the phone connection is only sporadic and intermittent, but sometimes it works well enough to get a connection (although somewhat reliable).

So now I have uninstalled the BT stack, reinstalled the monitor BT and went back using PC as a result of the composition and the same issues that I mentioned previously to persist.

Now, my two questions are as follows: a. Why did not get any Internet with BT Stack, even if the phone was actually composed for the connection? and (b) assuming that the internet access issue is resolved, I'd maybe get a connection more reliable (i.e. one that is not suddenly decide to drop from time to time) with BT Stack instead of the installation of PC Suite/BT monitor?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

A long time ago I ve tested the BT feature with my laptop LG and everything was OK. The configuration was not so complicated.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with your problem. I put t knows anything about your mobile phone, internet provider, or anything else, so the only thing I can do here is to you recommend to visit the knowledge base of Toshiba BT under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/?page=howto

You will find lots of interesting documents and also documents how to connect your laptop to the Internet.
    Check it out.

  • Satellite U500 (PSU9ME) - crash of the video driver

I have the goth answer for the question in [- this - | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=205511#205511] thread.
Of course, it's problem of build of Windows 7 Home Premium, which is OEM by Toshiba.
I installed Windows 7 Enterprise, all the problems with video driver sudden accidents have disappeared.
There is no message more "display driver stopped responding and found" - NEVER.

IMO, it's a problem of oem Windows 7 installed by toshiba.

    Recommended solutions:
    1. install the new copy of windows (NO system restore, install new ones only).
    -or-
    2. install Linux :)
    -or-
    3. purchase MacOS (for maniacs, ordinary users - not recommended)
    -or-
4 sell this laptop and purchase another one again.

And for the grand finale - I discovered that my U500 screws have come loose and even lose.
I recommend you to check all the screws and tighten if necessary.
Frankly said, I was amazed when I discovered this... This! I am owner of laptop opportunity, it was produced in 1999 and since then I had nothing even close to decomposition of the laptop chassis.

    Hello

I am owner Satellite U500-1EX (touch screen model) for about 6 months now and still use the preinstalled Toshiba recovery image. In these 6 months I didn't noticed any single problem with this machine, although I use it daily for my work (Internet, Office Automation) and also for some private activities (multimedia).

After reading your ad, I checked all the screws at the bottom and everything seems fine. The machine is still OK. I don t want to write now about the feature. I can just tell that this model of laptop is perfect for mobile use and consider with if necessary.

So far, I still think that my decision to purchase this laptop was good.

In just a matter of end on this driver error message: when you noticed this error message? By watching a few videos maybe?
