  Hi Gint,

  There is unfortunately no drivers for Windows 7 32 bit so I think that the Satellite U500 doesn t support this operating system.

  Why you have installed another OS without checking the availability of driver?
  AFAIK U500 is pre-installed with Windows 7 64 bit then why you changed obsolete 32-bit version that supports a maximum of 3 GB of RAM?

  In any case, I think you need to get yourself to drivers so check other sites such as Intel, Realtek, etc. directly to get 32-bit drivers.
  Alternative, you can search the Web from Toshiba site for other models of laptops they support 32-bit and have similar hardware as U500.

• Tecra A2 - need of spare part

  When I bought my Tecra A2, I realized that the top above the keyboard, which covers the speakers, was different to the images of this laptop. On the continuation of the investigation I discovered that there are supposed to be more than just the power button buttons, but it's apparently only for non - EU that laptop versions.

  However, all the buttons exist under the plastic Panel and are fully functional and usable. Toshiba UK told me that it is not possible to obtain one of these panels to replace that holds all of the available buttons.

  If anyone knows where I could get this specific part like a spare part of? I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

  After my own research I found a very similar to Tecra A2 unit.
  In my opinion the A40 Satellite has the same part of the cover with control buttons.
  You may use part of the cover of the A40 on your Tecra A2.
  However, you can try to contact the service partner for more detailed information.

  You can get all the spare parts Toshiba since an official authorized service provider. I n don't know where you life, but if you bought your laptop in Europe, you can find here an ASP in your country:

  Just speak with technicians to get the right spare for you.

  Alternative under Feliks wrote that you can search on eBay for second hand parts. Sometimes you can get really good deals for this. ;)

• The need for spare parts in forecasting Demantra

  I would be really grateful if someone who has been treated using following problem we,
  
  The thing is - we want to forecast 3 different types of items:
  1. main elements we sell - examples - machines.
  2. accessories for the machines we sell. A certain accessory can be used with several types of machines. (Cables, batteries etc.)
  3. spare parts we have in stock in order to provide service to our customers.
  Every machine we sell has a different set of spare parts used in the repair.
  
  Forecasts for the machines are a typical demantra model forecast. (Forecast by the book of the sale).
  My question is about the forecast for spare parts, we need for repairs.
  We know that the demand for replacement parts is influenced by how many machines that use this part have been sold to customers.
  It depends on also - the use of this part is common for fixing these machines that need service.
  (some parts are broken more often etc.).
  Also since we provide insurance of fixed prices for customers, they don't "see" spares price as a factor.
  (they don't naturally 'buy' parts).
  
  How can demantra link forecasts for the spare part to the history of machine sales? Demantra planned service does (which behaves very different than sales). It is clear that forecasting the demand for spare parts with simply looking at the history of each part will not provide better forecast results.
  
  Ideas anyone?
  I'm sure that most implementations in the face of this problem - about service parts forecasting.

  Alternative install Windows from a Microsoft disc if you have such a drive and download all the drivers from Toshiba page.

  I'm looking for someone who is able to copy for me * recovery disk Home Premium Windows 7 64-bit partition for Toshiba Satellite U500-17F * (Czech language - or in English). I resized the partition and delete windows 7 recovery disc, and now I need to reinstall because of disk problems. I don't want to buy a copy because I bought satellite toshiba with windows 7 and why pay twice for the same thing.

  Please let me know if you are able to copy the disc of recovery for me and put it to a web page that I can download it from. You can make a password to avoid abuses.

  To be honest that s does not erase. Did you delete the folder in HARD drive recovery or what exactly?

  Usually, you can reinstall Windows drive HARD or Toshiba recovery disc.

  If you n t have it more, you can order the CD from Toshiba. In my opinion you n t pay twice for the same thing because it s not a Toshiba error.

  I've always used laptops for years working time or personal laptops; I decided to change Toshiba because I hear a lot how they are and high quality!

  Since I bought my laptop and I'm having all sorts of problems with it!

  1. 1st day I bought the laptop, the screen started black out on me and come back several times, I went to the dealer who has replaced for me right now, but the replacement does the same thing for a while even with the bios and drivers updated and then after a few days it worked fine.

  2. I've updated of bios easily to v1.6 and now 1.7 released and I tried hard updated but the update won t work at all, it keeps stuck to the CMD screen.

  3 today, I had a massage from warning saying that the problem with the cooling system has been detected and I need to return it to the service!

  I'll take it tomorrow at the service, but the laptop was purchased on March 24, 2010 only! And it has been registered online on March 26, 2010;

  The service will open and check it out or fix it but it is neither normal nor acceptable when a laptop cost me almost 1200USD and worked less than 2 months and the experience of this.

  I have didn't even use it again as heavy I used to other brands which has never had a single issue!

  This does not mean your laptops are bad, but IE please help and provide solutions or maybe this model needs an urgent review!

  You're right, this is not normal cell behavior but it must be said that it s a machine and the machine could begin to malfunction it s nothing unusual and in your case, it was simply bad luck that happened after a short time of use

  I put t live in the United Kingdom, but there is not a lot of opportunities to find one:
  -order a service partner
  -check if you can find a defective unit by ebay and use it for spare parts or
  -Google bit.
  Maybe you will find a shop where you can order the necessary parts. If this is not the case in the United Kingdom avoid any problem to order the cover from another country.

  Huh... I'm afraid that you won't be disappointed now, but here's the truth:

  # Your laptop model comes with the 64-bit only operating system, so if you need driver Win7, tools and utilities, you can download Toshiba support & download, but for the 64 bit ONLY OS page.
  # Toshiba recovery disc creator cannot be downloaded. If you do not use original Toshiba recovery image there is no meaning for it. This designer is not designed to create recovery for the current state image, but so much burn already created recovery (data files) to a CD/DVD media image.
  # Toshiba photo service is software, you can only use with factory settings and can not be downloaded also.
  # Microsoft office 2007 trial version is a kind of present for people who have decided to buy Toshiba laptops and it is not available as an extra option. You can use it with the factory only settings. If you want to have this trial version then contact Microsoft and ask for the download.
  # Toshiba disc creator is also additional software and can be used with the factory only settings. No download.

  I was visiting my friend in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, it has a Toshiba Satellite U500 - 1F4 Laptop, the subtemplate is PSU9ME-OOCOOXAR

  She bought while working in Dubai, Saudi

  She spilled coffee on the keyboard, and of course, it now does not work correctly.
  I thought that it would be possible to remove and just wash it in hot water, perhaps to dissolve the coffee, but it does not work. There are six or seven key doesn't work is not on the keyboard.

  On eBay you can find so many keyboards. Just find one for U500 and it will fit for sure.
