Satellite U840T - cannot create USB recovery media

Can someone advise please - I have a new U840T Satellite with SDDS and try to create a recovery media using a USB key.

The Toshiba 'Recovery Media Creator' inviotes I plug a USB key at least 10.4 G. So, I inserted a new USB 16G. The app clearly did not see this, even if it is recognized by the PC itself, no problem.

When I press 'create' to load the stick, the app just says: "the process of creation for all media was cancelled" is not only wrong spelling, but completely useless.

I do something wrong, ir is just a very poor app?

Thank you very much...

Hello

  • Satellite T130 - Toshiba create USB recovery

    Hello.

    This is the situation:

I have laptop Toshiba T130 with no DVD player. After installing Win7, I shrunk the partition D tool in Win7 and used the free space to install Linux with GRUB. Then I shrunk the partition also C by Win7 tool and free space to create another. This however told me something about the dynamic disk or something...

But he has somehow broken GRUB so I decided to reinstall Linux. But the scores have been somehow broken, but I installed Linux on the last partition. Since then I could not start Windows or repair because partition D has actually been removed!
The C with Win7 partition seemed intact.

Trying to fix the computer and try to start trouble, I got error 0 x 090 or something with partition table error. So therefore, I deliberately decided to create the new partition with Gparted that off my HARD drive. Then I put in place the new partitions: 3 x NTFS, (400 MB recovery, partition Win7 and another) + extended partition containing the NTFS partition + ext4 partition, swap.

Then I copied the hidden files (that I had saved earlier) in a hidden partition on the HDD laptop + I copied folder of Toshiba 3rd NTFS partition recovery (I had backed up the files immediately after obtaining of the laptop).

Now, I'm stuck with 0xc000000e error when you try to start. I also followed this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53952&tstart=15

Can you help me with Win7 Starter? And what program to use to make Win7 64 bit USB bootable recovery CD? I tried unetbootin and USB, but they did not...

Any advice will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much!

Oh mann what are you do is incredible. ;)
The entire structure of the HARD disk is now screwed upward. I m just wondering why you did that on this small Satellite T130.
I mean it's OK all what are you do and you can do what you want with your machine, but my personal opinion is you're wrong for laptop for all of this.

Satellite T130 is small ultra portable laptop designed to offer the maximum of mobility and offer long battery life, when you are out of office or travel through. So I think that the most important thing for this laptop is well installed and configured the operating system that runs stabile and with the minimum of consumption of energy. This laptop doesn t have the optical disk drive and the overall situation is more complicated if the factory settings are changed.

You now have on the HARD drive is nothing but the jungle and to me, it seems pretty confusing.
If you checked s user manuals document you can find the exact explanation, what can be done with the recovery image saved on the second partition and what type of recovery media can be created.

Recovery image is not designed for use with third-party applications part so it can be problematic to create USB recovery drive.
Thread you link posted is better thread on this topic and if this will not help I really don't know what you can, except for ordering original Toshiba recovery DVD and make the installation of OS to get the factory settings again.

  • Satellite L300-13 s - USB recovery instead of recovery DVD discs?

    Hello

Well, for the first time in 8 years I had to do a system recovery using the disks that I created when I bought my l300-13s using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
I had inadvertently deleted the HARD drive recovery partition when I decided to make a clone with a larger HARD drive.

What I want to know is instead of making recovery discs DVD can only do a USB key recovery?

    Thank you

    Peter.

When you open Toshiba Recovery Media Creator you can see media options that can be created. I m not 100% sure, but I think that the old L300 there was possibility of recovery DVD only so I think that you cannot create USB recovery.

This problem occurs if the Toshiba Recovery creator tool cannot find the recovery image on the HARD drive. There are several reasons for this. Recovery image can be removed, deleted or structure of disk partitions HARD maybe changed. Just with the original settings and their State of origin HDD it will work.

Unfortunately now you will be able to create a recovery media or the installation of HARD drive recovery.
What you can do is a new and original for your model of laptop recovery DVDs and it is possible on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Cannot create a recovery on my Satellite S50T-B008 media

I have just bought a laptop by Satellite S50T-B008 and recovery media creator, when I click on create it tells me to insert a greater than 11.8 GB USB flash drive. I have a 32GB Flash DRIVE installed.

I click OK and then another box comes up saying the same thing. I keep going round in circles and I can't create the recovery media. I tried with other USB flash drives and different USB ports on the laptop and get always the same.

    Any ideas?

On my two machines I used ve 16GB USB stick from two various manufacturers and all went well.
I recommend you to use the USB 16 GB also. Try restarting your machine (full stop) and test again.

  • HP Notebook PC 15: create system recovery media

my laptop has a message asking to "create a system recovery media. Since the purchase of the laptop, I have upgraded to win10 (the free version online), of win8.1, which I upgraded to 8.0 immediately after purchase. I have a set of 3 drive recovery I think I did when I bought the HP. The instructions indicate that only a game can be made. In addition, the instructions show that more than 3 disks are required. But when I start the process only a USB option is available. How can I determine if the 3 disc set is the right game for this PC? I'm confused.

    Hello slickamis;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on creating recovery media and wanted to help.

If you create HP recovery support before proceeding with the upgrade to Win10, it's a waste of time trying to do it now.  Why?  Two reasons...

First of all, the update of Win10 has a bad history of corrupting the recovery OEM information, and if this happens to you, any media that you create does not work.

Second, that the media would have been for the original operating system, and the recovery information are not updated when you upgrade the Win10.  So the media could serve as a recovery of Win10.

My suggestion is if you want to create a recovery media for Win10, then consider using a third-party solution known as Macrium reflect (MR).

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.  In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy X 2: laptop recovery partition (D) merged with another partition, not be able to create a recovery media

I have merged my restore partition HP with another partition I created. Data recovery files are still intact in the New Partition. I have not created a recovery media. When I tried to create the USB Flash Drive recovery using recovery HP Manager media, I get the message that "recovery partition does not exist. How to get again the merged recovery partition and create a recovery USB Flash drive. If simply copy data from recovering files to a USB flash drive will work as a Bootable media in the case that need if in the future.

@joy1964: should not have done that.  Messing around with the OEM partition somehow good enough recovery ensures it won't work not later, when you need it.

Personally, I don't trust recovery integrated systems in any case.  You want to be able to recover from an image stored on a disk system large capacity Flash DRIVE or external.  In this way, if the disk fails, I can restore a functional system within minutes.

Consider using a third-party product known as Macrium Reflect this.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

AND... you no longer have the recovery partition at all and can reuse that space for something else.

  • X121e - product with a USB recovery media recovery

Hello, this is my first time using a community forum, so apologies for not knowing the protocols.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X121e, which unfortunately is 5 days out of warranty. It is pre-installed with Windows 7, but there is a problem of Windows startup, so the only option available is the Startup Repair, which seeks the problems (and trying to fix). Unfortunately, the repair failed, but the main cause is:

Disk system partition boot sector is corrupted.

That leaves only the ability to perform a recovery of the product. When I choose this option, the files are not found, probably because I don't have the "Q Drive" partition - a few months ago, I followed the instructions to create a recovery media (USB) and free up space on the hard disk. I have a USB key, called "cbd_drive", which contains the following items in the directory root:

    Boot [folder]

    factoryrecovery [folder]

    USB. Tag

    winRE.wim

I assumed that I could boot from the USB key to run the Lenovo product recovery, so I changed the boot sequence to use USB HDD but I get a message "Error loading operating system".

Now I'm at a loss as to what I need to do next, so appreciate all the advice of the community. Thank you!

No need to apologize, I thank you for your help and on reflection, read the link you sent, I think you're right... during the creation of the recovery the original media, there was no mention of the warning that you have shared.

I think the problem is that my support of USB is not recognized as bootable.

However, I thought you'd be interested... I downloaded one of the ISO files / free trial for Windows 7 offered by Microsoft and create a new bootable USB key. I used it to install Windows using the Lenovo product key and then I installed the Lenovo system update to get all the drivers. Everything works now.

    Thanks again for your idea.

  • Cannot create a recovery image

    Hello

I just bought a HP Pavilion x 2, it has a 64 GB SSD.  I want to create a recovery image using the HP utility but when I try, it fails. I think it is because there is not enough space on the Windows partition to create the image.  I have a USB drive connected with 27 GB of free but looks like it will create the image on the C drive, before you copy it to the USB drive. I don't want to remove my recovery partition until I know that I have another copy and I can't find anything else to uninstall to get the 14 GB I need (have 12 GB free). I have only had the tablet a few days so did not have much here, have uninstalled everything I put here except for the updates of Windows that I did. I erased the wimy file temp user profile.

Does anyone have ideas, what I can do?

    Thank you

    Juliet

  • How to create a recovery media in Windows 8?

You can become the owner of a new HP laptop, but unsure of how to create the recovery media so that it can be restored if this scenario arise.

This video explains the process of creating the recovery media in Windows 8 on HP systems.

I hope this information is useful for some.

  • Create product recovery media does not work after restoring to factory settings

Updated my T500 from 160 to 320 GB.

First of all, ran the RnR restore to factory settings with the product recovery media that I made earlier. And then restored my C: volume from my Windows Home Server backup.

Everything seems as usual except my service partition is now f: instead of S: and my Lenovo partition is H: instead of q:-I tested it I can get into the RnR with F11 service partition.

But when I try to create new recovery media product the ICT box is grayed out on the first prompt so I can't continue. Put back the partition of Lenovo on q: in disk management has not changed anything, he would let me change the letter of the service partition.

It's no big deal - I still have my original disks - but it would be good to know what I could improve for the next time I have to do a restore.

Think that I thought about it - when I restored my C volume I also restored a version of RnR who 'knows' I already burned disks. So next time if I want to burn new disks, I need to do on the version of the system factory setting before you restore the volume C:.
