• Problem network with new 8500 all-in-one print

  I installed a new Officejet pro 8500 has more on my network.  I have 3 computers on the network set up this way: DSL modum connected to Linksys router, all 3 computers connected to the router, PRINTER is connected to the COMPUTER main and other 2 computers print via the main computer.

  I installed the printer sucessfully and run the HP Network Assistant after the connection via another computer dialog boxes.  I can print and fax very well from the main computer, but not on other computers.  I set up the printer as a 'shared' on the main computer and other computers recognize the printer and set it as default printer.  But when I try to print form other computers, nothing happens.  When I go into the properties of the control panel - printers - ports on the main computer, the printer is listed as USB002 but when I click on "Set up" I get "an error occurred during port configuration.  This operation is not supported.

  Main computer is running Windows Vista with current updates

  Other computers running Windows XP SP2 with updates.

  Any ideas?

  Problem solved: some how the "printer offline" option was checked.  Once I unchecked everything works.  I can't for the life of understand me how this has verified in the first place.

  Try to download the HP Printer Control on the App Store app. It should support your printer and there's always the sweep feature.

  Aelmquist, if you upgraded your system to Win8 to an another earlier version of Windows, you will probably need to uninstall the printer software and reinstall. First of all, make sure you delete the printer from programs and features, Device Manager and devices and printers. After you restart your computer, follow the link below and then install the drivers and full software features.  I guess that your machine is 64-bit, but if it is not you need to go back and download the 32-bit version of the long drivers.

  Are you sure you're looking in the right folder, you are possible to search in the installation of Firefox rather than the profile folder folder. The following link provides details on the location of the profile folder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

I also have a MacBook pro that I have updated to the Mavericks. For the life of me I can't update software to 'find' this HP softawre update. I tried all technical and simple thing I can think (redownloading and install the driver of HP on HP site, deleting driver, uninstall, repair permissions, tranfering manually all the iMac to MacBook HP software, restart the printer, etc. etc. etc.). No luck. I can't get the software update HP on the PowerBook - and the software manually transferred from the iMac comes with an error - so I deleted and am now using the latest driver web page from HP which works fine - with the exception of any scan of the computer have... I'd like to since my PowerBook usually stays on my desk to the floor away from the printer down... by the way, I LOVE THIS HP 8600 printer. All brands of printer, I used it over the years, AND this ONE IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE IN EVERY WAY. Bravo HP!

  I had on both Mountain Lion. And yes I got the HP software on the two before moving on to Mavereicks. I'm not sure 100 percent when the HP update came through on the iMac if - it may have been before I upgraded to the Mavericks. But I'm pretty sure that it was after the Mavericks.

  Sounds like a screen resolution problem...

  • Click with the right button on a part empty your desktop, and then click Properties
  • Click on the settings tab
  • Move the resolution slider all the way to the right
  • It should choose the native resolution of your monitor
  • Click OK

  The native resolution of your screen are not selectable based on the ability of your graphics drivers. Updated drivers may solve this problem, but perhaps also that it will not.

  The Vista installation disc is a DVD. Apparently, you don't have a DVD player. You would need to purchase/install a DVD-ROM or DVD - RW to install Vista. Are you sure that your hardware supports Vista before doing this?
