  • DeskJet 1050 J410: Deskjet 1050 J410 used to scan using Windows 10

My all-in-one Deskjet 1050 J410 worked well on Windows 7.

Yesterday, that I upgraded my Windows 10 laptop.

The printer asked downloading new driver s/w, what I've done.  It prints very well now.  But it will not scan.

I can access the printer assistant screen in my taskbar.

All options under the 'Print' button works fine.

But when I press the "Scan" button, I get the message

"The HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series was not found".

I ran a few HP diagnostic s/w, which moved the scanner (I could hear it), and indicated that no problems were found.

But still I can't access the scanner!

Any ideas what to try next?

I finally solved the problem, "common solutions for Windows 10' using HP Web site to

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04773236/

This has had a link to 'HP printers - printer problems after upgrade to Windows 10'

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c05212298

Uninstall the old drivers of the printer completely.

    Restart the computer.

    Install new s/w and drivers.

Restart the computer and the printer.

Now, everything's fine.  It took some time to find the solution, but he was there if you knew the right search terms!

After having done that, the link to the scanner on the taskbar disappeared.

It took some other research, to learn how to get the icon on the taskbar.

    I finally arrived.

    S/W upgrades are rarely painless!

  • MP480 printer does not - scan using windows desktop PC 7

I had this all-in-one Canon MP480 printer for about 3 years and have never had a problem with it.  I recently got a new computer and since then, it will print, but he refuses to scan.  Guard saying 'Préparation' for 30 seconds, then stops.  Why print would work but not the scan function?  Makes no sense.

The first thing I tried was reset by disconnecting the two plugs of the printer for a few minutes, plugged them back in and turned on.  Still wouldn't scan.

Then I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled.  Same thing.  Will not scan but print.

Help!  It is driving me crazy and keeps me from stuff I need to do!   Thank you, if you want.  :-)

No matter what site or I installed from CD? A driver is not a driver?
    Well Yes, it is important.

If the Canon installation cd contains software drivers for win7 you should use.

If not, you need to install software drivers diirect the Canon site, specific to your version of win7 (32-bit or 64-bit) bit

Link for these has been published in the first response.

Generally, you install the software and drivers before connecting the printer, the installation will tell you when to connect.

    Hello

Is the printer connected to your PC by USB or network?

Using the USB connection, you can scan using Windows Fax and Scan software built into your operating system.

Scanning over a network connection unfortunately supported on Windows7 32 bit only, as you can find listed in the section about network scanning below:

  • How can HP LaserJet 3390 using Windows 7 - I scan several documents in individual files?

Printer works fine, scanner works fine, using Windows Fax and Scan according to the HP website and all is well when I want to scan documents one at a time.

However, when I put a stack of documents into the feeder and scan it turns into a single file of 10 pages instead of page files 10 1 as I need to.  It seems that there is an option in Windows Fax and Scan to do what I need (images to preview or scan as separate files under scan settings), but it is greyed out and I can't for the life of understand me how this box.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

The easy way to do this would be to scan to a single image as a GIF, JPG or PNG format.  These image formats are not able to form muliple page documents such as TIFF and PDF.

If you want to create documents PDF or TIFF-single page then you will need to review advanced on this printer model analysis options.  Sometimes the printer will allow you to scan each page as an individual document by checking a box or by selecting a different profile from scan.

If not, you can still scan pages from a single document, and then re - print the document in the form of individual pages of an image editing application.  Let us know which app you use to view your documents as well as the image format you want to publish in so we can give you specific steps.

    Hi @ahpaige,

I see by your post that you are able to print but not scan on Windows 8.1. I can help you with this.

Did you download and install the full feature software?

HP Officejet J3680 all-in-One Printer Drivers.

Classic Windows driver is probably installed, which provides the basic features.

Download and run the Print and Scan doctor. It will diagnose the problem and could solve it automatically. Find and fix common printer problems using the tools of diagnosis HP for Windows?

I am digitizing my old family pictures using Windows Photo Gallery, but each individual image that is scanned is saved as its own folder in images. Obviously, I would save each individual image as a file/thumbnail to a named folder.

I've been in Options/File/Import, but it does not seem possible to save it to a file.

  • Scan to searchable PDF and search using Windows Search

I use a HP Officejet Pro 8600 and try to create PDF files which is using Windows Search, i.e. display the directory tree and type a search term in the search box.

I tried to use the HPScan software to create a "Searchable PDF." type analysis  I also tried to create "editable text (OCR)" scan using both the HPScan software and directly from the printer.  I was able to select and copy text in all documents resulting (PDF and RTF) and I've seaerch for text in the document when the document is opened.  BUT what I need to be able to do is to find a document scanned on my computer looking into the content of the document itself (and not by the search for metadata or tags).

I checked to make sure that Windows Search is to search with the CONTENTS of the statement (he finds all Word documents...).  Is there something special I need to do in the software of HP on the printer itself ther to get this working?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    (P.S.  I use Windows 7, 64-bit if it matters.)

I'm afraid that what you are wanting to do is not possible. There is a limitation in how Windows interacts with the PDF file format. It cannot index files as it can for a Word document. You will need to scan the documents in PDF format, and then convert them to Word document, so you can search for the best.

    From: Hal Hostetler

This is probably due to sync Palm/BB and/or the / import export, email addresses don't always 'solve' prevents them underscores when used in address lists.  One thing to note for the future is to NEVER use Outlook. PST, import and export functions, they are broken and have been, they lose data and the. PST Import feature usually corrupts the Outlook profile in use at the time.  Instead, just make a copy of the current value, by default. PST file when Outlook is closed, take this copy to your new computer, place it in a folder where it will NOT overwrite any existing... PST files, make sure it is not set to read only (which will happen if you use a CD for transfer, then open of in Outlook using ' file |) Open | Outlook data file. " Do drag what you should leave the default copy on your new machine, or set as the default value and continue to use it.
