  I see that you do not want to be able to print in portrait mode. I can help you with this.

  Try another application to see if you have the same results.

  I have provided a few steps to check the settings for the picture of the application and the printer driver.

  According to what you print from use, verification of the application to ensure that the orientation is set correctly. The application that you print from, go to file, print, make sure that it is set to Portrait mode and no landscape. Or the application, go to file, Page Setup, Portrait.

  Check the orientation of the page:

  1. make sure you have loaded paper in the tray.
  2. in the file menu of your software application, click on print.
  3. make sure that the HP all-in-one unit is the selected printer.
  4. click on the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
  Depending on your software application, this button may be called properties,
  Options, configuration of the printer, printer or preferences.
  5. click on the features tab.
  6. in the Basic Options box, click one of the following:
  • Click Portrait to print vertically on the page.
  • Click landscape to print horizontally on the page.

  You can include the MFC-7440 printer named fax in the \\IP addressname of \\Printer' and check.

• Just updated for mac apple osx 10.8 mountain lion and I cannot scan with my hp Cap 1610 all in one.

  The HP Scan Pro is a very old, destined to Mac OS X v10.5 or older versions of the os.

  Don't forget to uninstall any incompatible software by following the uninstall HP under Applications\Hewlett-Pakard program.

  Then restart your Mac, enter print & scan and make sure that the printer is listed... If this is not the case, click on the Plus sign and add the printer.

  Now, try to scan by using one of the methods below:

  I could not get my HP Office Jet J6480 All In One scanner after upgrading to 10.8.3.I followed other positions and have installed the most up to date driver (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907) , but whenever I try to scan from the HP Device Manager or photosmart studio, it says "sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (scanner not found) "I tried to make sure there is no other updates by clicking settings in the Device Manager by clicking on check the updates but it says 'server not available - service software is currently not available. "Please try again later" and I got this error for the last week.

  I followed the second set of instructions available here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/HP-Software-Update-Server-Unavailable/td-p/18... to try to resolve this problem and install the software found on the link. I restarted my computer and I always meet the same problem.

  Note: My printer is wireless and I have not hooked by a cable. Will make a difference?

  My printer seems to be printing very well.

  To add, both HP Device Manager or photosmart studio are part of the software and not designed for Mac OS X 10.8 10.5.

  Here are the steps to scan with your printer on mountian lion, make sure to run the software update first to ensure that the latest HP drivers are installed:

  Where the scanning software do not work as expected, that more probably caused by incompatible drivers installed on your system.

  In this case, remember to remove the software by following the HP uninstaller program (under Applications > Hewlett-Packard), rebot Mac and install the correct software by following the steps below:

  I see that you are looking in the scanning options.  I would like to help.

  As there is no software available for Mac OS X 10.9 HP, you are advised to use the driver of digitization of the OS from Apple.  I'm including a document I would recommend using, title v10.9 OS X Mavericks: installing and using the printer on a Mac.  There is a section called "How to scan with Apple software update driver?"  This should help to address the issue.

  I tried every setting I can think.  I unchecked all boxes that says it will analyze each page in a separate document.

  How to scan multiple pages of a document?  It makes me crazy!

  I have 20 pages with a print on both sides. How do fax you these pages so that they receive the same pages with print on both pages? I load the documents with top paper feeder. The scanner allows you to load pages ask two face contrast to send the fax?

  If you need keep the same order, put a single page at a time, recharge it with the other side facing upward and click Start a new search.

  You can also place all the stocks and click Scan Page, once recharge on the other side and click again on the analysis Page.

  Once the page was scanned send the fax.

  I'm sure that yu you are trying to install from the installation to Windows XP CD. Try to download the software from THIS page and try to install.

  It sounds like a code of 'asserting' firmware, something really bad happened - the most probable hardware problem.

  I just successfully saved and connected via WiFi to my new HP Photosmart 6520 e-all-in-one pritner. I even printed the page alignment and test successfully.

  When I tried to print documents in Word, Adobe PDF and TextEdit, the same result occurs each time. The first page that prints a text on my Mac such as:

  And then many many many blank pages start printing after that. WHAT GIVES!

  -Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
