Scans Black

I have a HP 648-0 with Windows 7.  I've been scanning photos.  All of a sudden, after scanning 60 photos, scanning preview was all black and scanned to the all black file.  I tried several times.  I tried to restart the printer and the computer.  This time, it was gray and the picture was mainly gray with the squiggles of color.  I could recognize the image, but he wasn't even a bad scan.  I tried several times.

Hi irenegrecco,

Thanks for getting back to me with the information from the printer.  I suggest that we start by ensuring that the printer power cord is connected to a wall outlet and NOT a strip bar.  Here is therefore a document explained the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

Please note that the printer in the document is a LaserJet printer, and it is used only as an example.  The document is intended for HP products in general.

When you try to do a scan, please lift the lid just a little and see if the bar moves across the bed scanner. Please also make sure that the light is on when scanning.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

Thanks again for your time.

You can choose "Scan to PDF"? I wonder if the PDF will scan in color. Let me know what happens!

In addition, instead of scanning from the printers of the unit Panel, you scan from the printer software I was alluding in messages earlier? Scan from the software on your PC will give you all of the scan options.

When you press on copy and go to the settings adjust you the lighter/Darker? Also are you running the latest firmware? What operating system do you use?

    Travis,

Yes, the printer was up to date in its fireware. I am running Win 7 Pro (64), but the problem resurfaced surface during a copy operation only one position from the table of the printer. I advanced the lighter/Darker the maximum setting and it helped, but not as 'Normal' of origin. If I chose a copy in color at the keyboard, a B & W document came out excellent. My troubleshooting reveled that the problem wasn't actually in the scaning aspects of printing of the operation.

I made a number of steps with scaning of troubleshooting. I carried out all them from the table and sent output to a flash drive on the printer. I wanted to keep the remote computer. Even from the keyboard on the preview screen, I could see the very light scans of B & W, I did a number of quality adjustments to their levels of maxminum with an improvement, but not quite to its previous level of quality.

I was ready to leave when he came for me to restart the printer. I turned it off and unplug the power cord. After a short wait, I reconnected the power and the printer. He was back to his old self well with everything that normal value. It's now a happy printer with a happy owner.

Thanks for the reply. Take this into account if another comes with a problem on the copies where the copies n & B are very low, but color copies are very good.

    Thanks again.

  • Photosmart 7525: Scanning and Capture allows more scanning black and white. Only color or gray.

I've done a 'clean reinstall"Windows 10 and reinstall all my programs, including the Capture and scanning HP. Now the menu settings of scanning and Capture only the possibility to 'Color' or 'gray '.  This causes all of the PDF files scanned to have a gray background. Very undesirable. Is there a way to return to the earlier version cause the current configuration is a serious downgrade.

    Welcome to the aharondavidforums.

I saw your post on your Officejet 4500 scanning black images. You mentioned that the printer is also white image copy. Normally it is a scanner failure.

Thank you for joining the Forums of HP Support!  It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff.

I see that you are having problems when scanning using the document feeder. Have you tried to do a scan using the HP Easy Scan application? HP Easy Scan is a free app on the App Store with tools to scan documents and photos to a Mac running OS X 10.9 or later version.

Please go to http://hp.care/2d75fhX to get detailed instructions to scan and also to change the settings, including the color settings. If you don't have the application, you can also download and install the application from the same link.

These measures should be the case, I would like to know the results

    Hello
Assuminug you have a Mac and you scan the front of the printer, the default scanning workflows configured to scan black and white documents. Be sure to change the settings for scanning to scan color documents:

1 open the HP utility and select your device.
    2. based on Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. click on the tab scan tasks.
    4. Select the affected shortcut and click on change... (or double-click on the shortcut).
    5. in the section of scanning from an HP device, click the blue triangle or button view details to expand the menu.
    6. in the expanded menu now, open the drop-down next to the Mode
    7. now select the color option, and then click OK to save the changes. The next scanned using this workflow is displayed in color.

If you are using another operating system, please specify your operating system and software used for scanning.

  • HP 7520: HP 7520 - size output scanning image problem, excess white border

I have a HP 7520.  For months I've been scanning black and white photos (one by one, not with the autofeeder) of different dimensions to a pin connected to the scanner code reader successfully. No problem at all and no grand only white spaces surrounding the photo when I opened the scanned photos. And I have nothing special to do this - I have yet to enter the 7520 HP set up menu on my computer. The HP 7520 seems to have missed to automatically size the size of the photo.

I disconnected the HP 7520 recently for several days and changed my password IP. Now when I scan the pictures, I have a big white page with the photo in a corner. I read the other posts on the same problem, and that the following comments:

    1. Automatic harvest. I can't find this option anywhere on the pages of preferences when I go on the 7520 HP set up menu on my computer. I can't find even in the 100 page manual although autocropping is mentioned on page 21 of the manual.
    2. Clean the scan bed. I did it.
    3. Updates. All the updates appear to be installed.

None of the above has worked, and I don't want to have to manually set the size each time, unless there is no other solution. But there must be another solution as the scanner worked so well 6 months without effort or installation on my part.

    That pasa?

    Hello

Probably you (or others) have wrong change the shortcut to scan photos. Now, you can create another shortcut to analyze the size OF the photos and save it. The next time use you this shortcut to scan, you will always get the same result.  Please try to use HP Scan:

Select your options (size, PPP...) and then save it as a shortcut.

Moreover, the possibility of harvest in buried under Advanced settings very convenient when you scan several photos at once. I scan normally 4 photos and the culture option gives me 4 files, a photo of each.

    Kind regards.

  • Art of color scanned in Sketch?

Hi - I recently bought an iPad Pro and Apple pencil I can use sketches to color for my graphic novel pages. I normally draw on paper and in the scanner and colour it in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, but it's long and laborious and I hoped to be able to do it directly on the screen with the Apple pencil would make it more natural and fun (and faster).

I found how to import the scan black and white drawing in the sketch, but it does not appear that there is an available blending mode (like multiply in Photoshop) which would enable a layer underneath the linework of color and being able to see through it. I don't want to lower the opacity of the line art because I need the lines to be nice and black.

Is it possible that I can do this - this seems to be a fairly simple operation, but it is worrying as research if it is not possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Scarlett

    Hello, Scarlett,.

Here's a fun work around the use of watercolor brushes I love. on the sketch. I hope it's useful for you.

    1. open in a new Web on the sketch.

    2. press on the icon + to add a new layer and choose layer from the Image. Access your analysis and import it.

You can change the scan imported to your taste, and when you're done scaling, click 'Done '.

    3. now for coloring! Add a new drawing layer by pressing the icon +. Choose a watercolor, for example the dish of Watercolor Brush, or the round Watercolor Brush. Choose a color and paint colorful washes transparent on your image.

    4. in addition, you can use several layers if necessary. The opacity of the drawing with colored wash layers and the layer of the image can be adjusted. To adjust the opacity of a layer, give the layer a long-press and open the layer dialog. Adjust the layer opacity by using the slider.

I hope you have fun with this watercolor work around.

    Happy, sketching,

    Lynda

  • LaserJet 3015: Failure scanner Laserjet 3015

I have an older 3015 AIO who just started giving me a problem scanner.  Half of a scanned page scans black vertically.  Machine will print very well.   I found a "calibration curve" diagnosis and I tried the Red layer, I get a nice curve of the drops which then either nothing or infinite, can't tell which.

Is this a symptom of a scanner unit failure?  Or should I look to connections, motor, or memory?  I want to have the right part on hand if possible when I take the thing out, because it seems that it is not easy to the maintenance manual.

Other diagnoses that might help things pin down?

    Thank you!

So, just to close this topic, he did turn out to be a failure of scan.  My theory is that the scanner is illuminated by LEDs on both sides of the page, and a Bank has failed.  The part number for this printer was RM1-0927, I got by taking it apart.

Half an hour or so and a donor parts printer that spit its own version of work, and I'm back in business.

  • HP Scanjet G4050

I'm trying to scan black and white pictures. I can fit 4 of these photos at once on the glass and I'm wanting to analyze all 4 of them successively. I chose to scan with the following options:

    Photo (glass or Charger)

    Grayscale

    Save to file

    TIFF image

    Advanced picture settings are:

    600 dpi

Scan multiple photos to individual files (single selection for each found photo.)

PROBLEM - the software variously will select a photo, two photos, or the whole glass. (This I understand, my assumption is the selection is based on the amount of contrast light and dark software 'sees'.) When I manually select the other images showing on the screen, the software will scan but NOT save them when I click on DONE. It worked once then after that it's as if the scanner has lost her brain.

I checked on the hp site for driver updates and believe that I am updated on the drivers. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1 with a 32-bit operating system on a Dell XPS M1330.

Until I get help with that I guess I will continue to scan a photo at a time. MOANING!

I posted a work around for this problem that will allow you to analyze individual TIFF by region files.  Please refer to this post:
