Screen Black iMac - how to backup data?

My 2011 iMac screen does not start, even though I can hear the initialization of the system upward. Until I try to send this to for repairs, is it possible that I can do a lot of data back up?

I have tried different methods to fix the black screen of death - did not work.

    Hi, Conrad

What operating system do you have? Windows XP Pro includes the Microsoft Backup utility as standard, while Windows XP Home Edition does not work, even if it is available on the installation CD.

If you have a CD writer installed then'you can simply copy your data files on a CD-R/RW as a backup.

You can also use an external USB disk as backup media.

The easiest way would be to put his HARD drive in a box that connects to the computer by USB.

This is just an example - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hard-Drive-Caddy-Case-Enclosure/dp/B003MVW2SM

You probably have a 2.5 HDD "because I know that all laptops do.  If you need to buy an enclosure for a 2.5 drive "[not a disk 3.5" that could come from a desktop computer].

Almost all cases derive the power to drive the HARD drive to the USB itself [rather than an external power].  If you see one that needs an external power supply, then you are probably looking to the wrong thing.

You need to know if the HARD drive is IDE or SATA.  It depends on the age of the computer.  Your computer's manual should tell you or you can whip the HARD drive just to have a look.

    Hi valerie,

If you are referring to the display of the date on the start screen, then you can simply turn on live tile in a right click on the calendar app and selecting enable Live tile on. Then you should be able to see the date on the start screen of the tile appearance.

If you do not already have a current backup, please backup all data, and then reinstall the OS. * you don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need the backup unless something is wrong. If the system has been upgraded an earlier version of Mac OS X, you may need to the Apple ID and password to use.

If you installed the runtime Java distributed by Apple, and still need, you will need to reinstall it. It goes the same for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer or an external hard drive enclosure, then
saving them. Do this using several methods to redundantly. Of course, a real computer

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

A method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is CTRL +.
ALT + DELETE - Manager tasks and tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is available by
repeatedly tapping F8 as you start. CTRL + SHIFT + ESC also begins the Task Manager.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
