Screen freezing of blackBerry Smartphones

Hey, new, new problem with my "BOLD". I bought it in April of AT & T (it is refurbished), the thing is every time I'm on it for more than 10

min timer appears several times and the screen freezes makes it difficult to finish what I'm doing. No idea why?

You is not clear, that we have been referring the device memory. Under the section of the Application, the amount of free space is listed?

    Hello!

I am a Sri Lanakan. Last week, I bought a Blackberry Storm2 9550 used, eBay (from a seller of e. u.). All the functions work fine except the touch screen. Can press on the touchscreen. (edges and around the screen) But he get caught suddenly, and also when am pressing an icon, phone highlights another icon. (as axample, when am pressing contacts in the home screen, phone highlights two contacts and sms). As I suppose, at this time there the phone detects it as multi touch and so I can't support what either. When am reset (battery pull) the phone, it solves the issue for a few minutes or hours, subsequently faced the same question.

I tried to fix it by putting a piece of paper to the battery cavity, but nothing has changed.

My storm is an unlocked phone (Comes to Verizon, but later unblocked), which is running version 5 software. ...... . 713 fact in Mexico 5.

I want also to the last update available for my phone and how to update.

You have other ideas on my problem touch screen? This is the main question, I want to solve as soon as possible. Do I need to fix it with a spacialist? Is it a hardware failure or a software? He solved by upgrading my version of software or restore to the factory settings.

None of these remedies could work. Without practice, it is impossible for me to know anything 100%. The best advice I can give you is to upgrade your operating system to the latest version (. 1015). It could very well be that, as a device, it was damaged by the previous owner and it will never work for you. As I say, it is impossible to tell at this distance-internet.

What is the meaning of the hard reset? It is equal to pull the battery?

In my opinion, Yes, but there are others in the world who think differently. The best reference is the official:

    • KB02141 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone

Most of us who have dealt with this for awhile understand that power should be turned on when you pull the battery.

Once again, it's impossible to say at this internet distance.

Hereby, I have attached an image. Please answer those as well.

The first (top right) is the GPS indicator... I do not exactly remember what icon the way that... I suggest that get you the the user guide for your BB from here:

The other appears only if your carrier has eliminated an update wireless for you. You say that it is the "best way" for you... I would add that this is the MOST DANGEROUS way. You see, via this method update, on the device of data backup is taken, that is rendered after the update (the update effectively wipe everything). This backup is a file use 1... If something is wrong in the upgrade process, all your data is lost forever. The update method that I gave you is the best method that 1) it tells you first take a manual backup and 2) the process itself will also take another backup... and both of these backup files are stored on your PC and can later serve as a source of food since they are not 1-use files.

Pls send me a link if you can, to download the latest update.

You have already the link... it's in the instructions I have given to perform the update... This is the portal of official download for all carriers. Simply, you browse to the carrier of your choice and download their bundle of BONES for your model number.

You can also benefit from this:

And also the public KB that I often mention... they are fully searchable by you... you don't need do me research for you:

  • A freezing Storm blackBerry smartphones... help!

I'm a convert of Treo in the world of BlackBerry and I thought that the storm is the way to do it.  In any case, after getting the telephone, connected to my corporate email server and downloading some apps, I run on the problem where scrolling and tapping are just frustrating me no end!  For example, when you try to scroll through applications, it just freezes on me and won't do anything.  I can press 'End' and it brings back me to my home screen.  Then, I tried to get into the phone to call Verizon to see if I could get help.  hen tapping/press the 'Contacts' icon, nothing happens.  OK, press harder.  Still nada!  OK, so I'll just type the number manually.  I press the 1 and 5 rises.  I press the 1 and 5 another appears.  I try to change where I am pressing on in the hope that I can get a 1 appears on the screen.  Nothing!  I had 3 seconds to throw this thing out the window.  I know that the BlackBerry is far superior than the Palm Treo but I want to tell you, I was contemplating going back to Palm.  I don't want to give up and hope that there is someone out there who can help out me.  Thank you!!

    Tim

    OK things more to check...

How did you leave apps when you're done? If it's with the back or on the red button, then the app is unable to close properly. Always use the BBKey and "Close" or "Exit" to exit the application when you are finished. Only if you have a reason to keep it running, you must use another method to exit an application. If left to themselves, many apps will remain running, and just like a PC, more you ask him to do at the same time, him more bogged down it will receive.

Something to watch - free memory of the App. Options > memory, check the free AppMemory immediately after a restart of batt-pop. Then watch an it... If he's dropping like a stone, then something is running for consumption.

You can always check what apps are underway into the BBKey - he will always phone, home screen, BBMessenger, Messages and browser running... everything else is an application that has not closed. Be very frugal with allowing applications to stay running.

You can also search the QuickPull... a version is free on the AppWorld. According to a schedule, it will be a reboot which is almost as good as a proper reboot batt-sweater. I have mine work every night at 1130 hours... longer, with the paid version (which I have), it will monitor the memory of the app and ask me if I want to restart when it reaches a set threshold.

The thing we want to avoid is an OS reload... who is the most radical, and we need to reduce the other elements of first possible causation (IMHO).

Give these things a try and report.

    See you soon!

  • Freezing of blackBerry Smartphones

My BB Torch 9810 crashes and displays a small icon that seems to take the place of an hourglass.  When it freezes there is nothing I can do to return to operation except waiting.  This happens at all different times including during a call that prevents me to hang up.

I spent hours with AT & T.  Everything what they might recommend wiping is clean.  I did and it freezes again!

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Ralph Saperstein

This is usually due to low memory.  Look into the Options > memory and see how much free memory of application you have.

However, that being said, I recommend an upgrade of the OS.  AT & T does not currently offer an upgrade to 7.1, but many have found this particular OS, version 7.1.0.378, to work well on AT & T devices.

    1. go to the site below, click on the download for the 9810, download and install on your PC.

    https://swdownloads.BlackBerry.com/downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=0C4B1EEB45C90B52BFB9D07943D8...

2 download the OS files to the PC then install on the PC by running (double click) the downloaded file.

    3. go in c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

    4. connect the BlackBerry and double-click on "Loader.exe." It is located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file was in.  (It will automatically make a backup, but you can use BlackBerry Desktop Software to first make a manual backup if you wish.)  It will take 30 minutes to an hour to save, load the new operating system and restore the backup.

Note: This OS is not supported by AT & T.  They will not help you if you have problems with the device.  That said, the operating systems are all developed by RIM for specific devices and not to a specific carrier brand.  It is perfectly safe (and often beneficial) to install the other OS carrier on your device.  You can always reinstall the official version of the AT & T later if you don't like, or if you need support.  However, given that they have been a great help, getting does not support won't be a big problem at this point!  Do not install a version newer than 7.1.0.378 later versions had a problem with the microphone on AT & T devices where the other party cannot hear you... as your phone is on mute.

  • White screen of death blackBerry Smartphones

My Blackberry Bold 9700 had the white screen of death and will seek to revive, but while loading could fail and then repeat it, I then he backed up using the Blackberry Desktop Software and tried to do the reset of the system using this...

    1. Above all, back up your BlackBerry device.  Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager and select backup and restore.  In the next screen, select backup and perform a full backup of your data on the device.  Note the location of the backup file (usually in the Documents folder).  Close the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and let your connected device.
    2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common search in Motion\AppLoader\ and open the file Loader.exe.  In 64 bit of Vista computers, the file is located in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.  According to the settings on your computer, you may need to show hidden folders (under file > Options for Windows XP or organize > folder and Search Options in Windows Vista).
    3. After the configuration of the aircraft has been recovered, you will be on the device Application selection page.  You can scroll through the list for all desired applications are selected.  You can also deselect all applications that you do not use to save space.  Click Next.
    4. On the next page, click on the Advanced button.  Check the two checkboxes (delete all application data and delete all currently installed applications) are checked.  Click Next.
    5. To proceed with the OS reinstall.  Note that this process can take 10 to 30 minutes (usually about 10 minutes).  Do not unplug the device.
    6. Once the process is complete, open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.  Select backup and restore and open the restore application.  Select the file to restore (Backup-(Year-Month-Day) .ipd) and click Open.  Follow the steps to restore your device.
    7. Re-activate your connection to device by clicking on manage connections and turn on your Mobile network.  Download all the missing applications and re - connect to any device BlueTooth and you have completed.

However, reset doesn't have to step 4 and I've been unable to re - connect phone to Blackberry Desktop and now, the phone tries to start but crashes when she shows the first blackberry ever start.

    Help, please

It could be at this stage.  I'm leaning more towards the software side.  Can you take the device to the store and reload the software?  If we give them problems, then the material may be failing.

  • Brightness of screen ranging from blackBerry Smartphones?

I noticed that the level of brightness on my Storm varies, is it supposed to?  I noticed several times during the reading e-mail and looking at the photos of the camera.  It can be vary brightness one accidentally, I press the button, someone we know?

It has a light sensor and the brightness based on the lighting. You can stop the feature (blacklight dim automatically disable in the screen/keyboard of the option menu), but this will slightly affect autonomy since you do not always have a maximum brightness.

  • Screen of the blackBerry Smartphone will not portrait in landscape mode when, in the pages of sms and message mode change

I don't know if I've accidentally changed something, but all of a sudden I can not get the screen to switch from portrait to landscape mode when im in the pages of sms and message. I searched everywhere for an option that could keep me out of this point of view, but I have not found anything. Anyone know how to fix this? your help will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that you use the latest version of the OS that you can find (from any carrier.)

You can probably get it to work again by removing the battery and reinsert.

  • Default screen of the blackBerry Smartphones Portrait showed icons, now displays the keyboard.

I let a friend play a bit with the phone today. After that, my home screen changed and I could not find a way to restore it.

When using the portrait used to have icons on the screen. Now I have a keyboard showing instead (with numbers and letters, such as a phone. If I flip to the landscape, I get the icons. If I hit the 'menu' button, I get the icons. If I type and click on the screen above the keypad, I get the icons. If I press a selection from the keyboard, it opens the phone and enters the first issue. I would like to have the icons it by default in portrait again. I did a battery pull and looked through the options, but without success.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Second battery pull it cleared up. It was strange. I could change the multi tap keyboard and suretype. But the portrait by default the keyboard upwards. Second battery pull took back me to the default screen, I was used to, with my icons arranged as I wanted them to be.

I can be typing a message and my screen turns dark, as in power saving mode.  Other times it remains nice and bright without problem.

  • Screen of the blackBerry Smartphone is no longer automatically stop when the phone is not used

I have a Verizon 8830.  I have the side switch programmed to lock the device.  In the past, when I blocked the device, the screen would turn off after 2 seconds, which would save battery.  Now, when I lock it, the display turns off after two seconds but then it turns back on.

I can get it to decrease intensity with backlight settings, but I can't have to go completely dark.  As far as I know, I have not changed any settings.

    Any ideas?

It fixed the old-fashioned way... I did a hard reset.  It works again.
