Screen reader accessibility for noninteractive objects

I work at 8 Cp and try to do a course entirely compatible Section 508. I tested with the Window-Eyes screen reader. The screen reader can access the reading and fine TOC bar buttons, and it usually recognizes interactive elements on the screen. However, most of the time, the screen reader is not recognizing the legends or the intelligent forms with text on screen. Many slides are just text and a button transparent text to pause the screen, therefore, that I need the screen reader to read the content of the course. According to the documentation, I shouldn't copy the text in the name of accessibility for each object, although I tried in a few places without success. The accessibility feature looks so flaky. From time to time, I can get something to work, but not completely, or I can't repeat.

I was able to get the screen reader to read the text if I remove all the interactive elements, including the reading and TOC bar. In other words, if I have a class 1-slide, Captivate accessibility works. As soon as I try to give people an option to move to the next slide with a control button or the play bar, it stops working.

Yes, accessibility is enabled. I tried to hide the rectangle around the objects in HTML5. I tried editing both SWF and HTML5. I tried to text buttons transparent instead click on the boxes, which seemed to make a small difference. I tried different shortcuts and ensured that I never use the same shortcut twice on a single slide.

How access a screen reader text within Captivate content? The documentation says you can access it with arrows, but it does not work. People do in the real world in order to make it accessible when the program does not work the way that the documentation says it should? I know from reading other threads that some organizations have given up and just went to provide text alternatives.

I am open to any suggestion.

My suggestion is that do you what others have already done.  Try to make Captivate content "fully Section 508 compliant" is not a realistic goal.

As you noted, screen readers prefer to pay attention to the interactive objects.  If you must use interactive objects even for text objects that does not need to be buttons.  (You can set their action IT success to no Action so that they just sit and do nothing.)

But you're still going to have problems at some point and these questions will be showstoppers.

So, save yourself a lot of hassle and invoke the clause to exhaust all of the Section 508 and W3C accessibility documents which allows you to offer a "text alternative".  Create an accessible MS Word or PDF document that contains the same content.  You're going to do in a short time it would take you to try in VAIN to get e-learning content of Captivate to satisfy all the rules of Section 508.

Probably NOT what you wanted to hear, but I really think someone needs to say this.

    Hi friends,

I use the oracle 10.2.0.3 version.

I have an asguser of the user who needs read access to the objects a bit. After I gave read access, he is able to access but must specify the schema_name.object_name. How can I make the user directly access the object without the schema name.

    DBApps

Why not?  The trigger to run when a connection is established.  He does not know the application, and the application does not know about the trigger.

As for your original question, the only alternative is a synonym.  When a given user is a reference to an object (like a table), oracle assumes that the object belongs to the user.  So, if the user wishes to make reference to an object that belongs to another user, their only choices are

    (1) to qualify the name of the object with the name of the owner

    (2) have a synonym that equates the name synonymous in the name of full object

    (3) change the session as John described.

You asked about the creation of another user.  How do you think it would solve the problem?

In the end, classic, manual, the most often used solution is a synonym.  I really don't understand why you seem to reject that.

  • Read access to planning applications.

    Hi gurus

Is it possible to give read access for planning through HSS applications? similar to 'Read' access to essbase applications? I m in 11.1.2.1 and commissioning Options, we are Analytic Services write, Cube creator, Director, interactive user access, manage models, distribution of mass, Planner, Provisioning Manager, user of the view. Single user view sounds just for read access I need. If I select a read access, it seems that I need to give access to all forms, dimensions (members) access in reading in every app plannign etc... Is there a default role for all the read access for planning applications?

    Thank you

    rrK

Planning security is different from security Essbase. You must provide a read access to your secured dimensions to him visualize the dimensions. same thing applies to forms.

  • Drag the accessibility text do not read in the JAWS screen reader

    Hello

In Captivate 5, I have accessibility slide text on each slide for users with visual impairments. This is set through the Properties tab > tab accessibility for each slide. When I published the Capitvate of the file as an executable file, the slide accessibility text is not read in the version of JAWS 12.0.1169 screen readers.

Does anyone know why it does not play?

    Access.jpg

    Slide Access.jpg

    Hey Dan,

We finally figured this out for Captivate 5.  When you create a turnover there are two objects: the rollover_area and the rollover_caption.  In this example, the rollover area is selected with the dotted line and the box caption pointing to it.  If you select the rollover_area (and not the rollover_caption) and then add the text accessbility to properties tab > Accessibility button, JAWS is reading.  Let me know how it goes.

  • screen mode < accessibility > reader

Sorry for the multiple problems related to the accessibility...

Documentation on the screen reader is as follows. Please not underlined italic text

screen reader: ADF Faces generates the HTML code that is optimized for the use of
screen readers. The screen reader mode facilitates users with disabilities, but can
degrade the output for users without disabilities or with only a few physical
limitations. _For example, access keys are disabled in the screen mode IN2 reader +.
to avoid conflicts with the keys used by assistive technology. +

But I can see in screen reader mode access keys and are functional. Please confirm if this is just a bug in the documentation?

    Hello
Yes, it's just a matter of documentation. There was a time where the keyboard shortcuts have been disabled, but after much discussion, they have been enabled for the reader to screen mode.

I'll contact the people of doc and have this update.

  • Z10 taken blackBerry trapped in the screen reader!

Today my Z10 decided to enter accessibility mode, including the screen reader. I can't go to settings to turn it off, as the screen will not scroll upwards or downwards. You can access elements by double-clicking, but article 'back' never works. The keyboard is completely non-functional in this mode. I'm working on the re-installation of operating system using link, but not sure it will help. I restarted the phone several times, pulled the battery and taken to Bell which is only available to return to BlackBerry to fix.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this reset?

This will leave here for others who may have the same problem. Using BBLInk to return to your last backup and it should reset the issue of accessibility.

    No, do the above.

I just ran through enabling and disabling it. Pressing the button three times, he died.

  • Screen reader not responding

I need help. I get this message more and more frequently lately:

"Screen reader is not responding. NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver version 311.06 stopped and recovered."

This afternoon, it didn't recover more. Got the blue screen, restarted system and get the blue screen again. It happened several times. Then I restarted in safe mode, but here, I could not access the video driver. The local computer store told me that is almost never the pilot, but the actual card. (May be overheating due to fan problem, etc.). Also they told me that these cards usually do not last that long (6 years).

    My questions:

    1. is it possible to diagnose this problem more away or should I just replace the map with a more powerful? (In fact I've been thinking the same before this problem.)

    2. What do you suggest as a more powerful card still works with this motherboard? (My motherboard is Asus P6X58D Premium and my card is ENGTX 480. OS: Windows 7 Professional, Adobe suite: CS5.)

I thank very you much for any advice.

    -Laci.

LACI, this is your driver display that is not responding.  Try to upgrade to the latest version and get it on the nVidia site.  My last download was 347.09 for my nVidia GTX cards as well as the version of yours is very old.  Of course maybe it's not the problem, but you should update the driver in any case if you get a new GPU

If there is not a button or a movieclip, right click on the object > click on convert to symbol > select movieclip > ok > in the properties panel, enter an instance name, for example square_mc.

then on the timeline that contains the button or movieclip you can use:

  • JAWS screen reader and Chat in AdobeConnect window

Hello, I recently organized an online seminar for a group of people with disabilities from around the world. I noticed that participants blind and vision did not participate in the chat and monitoring window with one of them subsequently. A participant from the India, who use screen-reading technology JAWS said:

«I do doesn't have in the face of a large part of the problems of accessibility, but somehow, I couldn't use the Chat window.» As you had done to me knowledge, I understand he should be accessible with JAWS, but somehow, I couldn't use it. May be, it is accessible with an improved version of the JAWS. »

Is there a certain version of JAWS that users must have to be compatible with the function of Chat window? Or would he have been user error? I would like to know if there is advice we can give to our participating future Webinars, as we often have people with various disabilities. Thank you!

    Hello Ashley!

The white paper http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/education/pdfs/adobe-connect-accessibility-wp.pdf says JAWS 11 as a benchmark.

A much longer and wider thread on Connect & accessibility is at http://webaim.org/discussion/mail_thread?thread=4392. You can extract some information and see if it is useful. Unfortunately, a user could use the UI to connect with JAWS. May be some edge cases or a bug.

When you use Connect via JAWS, please share your experience and your comments in this thread.
