screen saver does not

I have a new laptop, and the screen saver worked initially. I installed wireless and a wireless mouse. Now, I can't turn it on. I can put it, but it does not start. I checked the links you have on this topic and did what it said, but it still does not work. I use Windows Vista.

I posted this question a few hours before, but he did not appear. I hope that it will be.

Thanks for any help,
Susan

Hi soozie43,

Thank you for taking the time to post.

Just to clarify, you have already looked at the following?

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/911895

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/913405

This screen savers that you have tried these are those included with Vista are each one does not?

If you open the Task Manager and end the ehtray.exe process (you have not one) is what allows the screen saver work?

What is the make and model of your laptop?

Does it happen on both batteries and plugged into the wall?

Screensavers work since the Preview button?

The steps below, you put the computer in a clean boot that allows only to require Windows to load at startup. We can try this to remove and the programs or services to prevent the screen saver to come.

1. click the button Start on your Office
2. type msconfig in the Search boxof start, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
3. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
4. under Selective startup, clear the Load Startup items check box.
5. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click disable all.
6. click on OK.
7. When you are prompted, click restart.

How to set your computer to normal startup:

1. click the button Start on your Office
2. in the start Search box, type msconfigand press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
3. click on the general tab.
4. click on Normal startup - load all device drivers and services and then click OK.
5. When you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Please let us know.

Thank you

  • Portege M400: screen saver does not work

    Hi all

like many of you, I think, I need the screen saver protected by start-up automatically when I let my M400 unattended for some time.
Everything works fine if the bluetooth is introduced to the wide. Otherwise... the screen saver does not start automatically.

Site Microsoft learns something about the problems related to (Microsoft mouse) wireless devices that do not allow the screen saver appears.
The proposed solution is to kill a process called PCMsomething, or download an update windows named KBsomething and install it.

I actually a bluetooth wireless (non-Microsoft) combined with my PC mouse, but no PCMsomething process is executed and, although my mouse is turned off, the screen saver organizers can't work until I turned off the bluetooth of the M400 too. In addition, windows update does not suggest a KBsomething patch to install (maybe because my mouse is not a Microsoft one?).

Any idea to solve my problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Screen saver does not start automatically

original title; SCREEN SAVER DOES NOT START AUTOMATICALLY

My screensaver stopped automatically to come if I use an excerpt it's turns on and will remain lit.  How can I fix or can uninstall and reinstall?

It becomes a problem growing with the screen savers. The issue is background programs and services that are enough tasks that the computer never thinks that it becomes "inactive". Programs cannot do any real work, but are cycling through their operations individual enough to keep the computer "awake".

Try to start your computer with a "clean boot", (see Microsoft Support articles below). If this resolves the issue and you definitely want your screen saver, you'll have to discern what substantive programs and services that you can live without being active all the time, and turn them off.

For what it's worth, the systems that I watched recently with this problem were 'smart phone' synchronization software recently installed and who is constantly looking for something to synchronize with regardles to know if they are connected to what whether or not. Change the start of these programs and services 'on demand' to 'always' solves the problem in these cases.

That check for screen saver does not

    Hi k4trm,

    1. what happens when you set a screen saver? What screensaver you have defined on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message?

    3. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the screen saver does not to work.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you update the driver for graphics card on the computer visiting the site of graphics card manufacturer.

  • Screen saver does not react when I "wiggle" the mouse or press "Esc"; 'Enter', etc.

I had the same screen saver running for centuries (it goes right through my photos), but in the last few weeks, I am unable to find the screen to 'wake up' 'wiggle' of the mouse or press "Esc"; 'Enter' etc etc.  Its very frustrating because I have to press several keys at random and then wait about 5 minutes for the screen saver turns off.  I'm still on Windows 7 and it is up to date.

No idea how to get the screensaver to respond normally again?

    Hi Christine,

I understand that your computer screen saver does not react when you move the mouse or press ESC.

This problem may be due to the following reasons:

    • Several processes that run in the background.
    • Problem with screen saver.

Please follow the methods and check them off below if it helps:

    Method 1: Clean boot

IF this problem is caused by several programs running in the background, clean boot will help you understand.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

Now plug your magic let sit for one minute Alto screen saver is now active!

If you want to activate the sleep as well, follow the same instructions as above, but simply type this line instead.

I select a screen saver, set the time, apply and nothing.  This has happened before and corrected himself.  Maybe one setting in another program? It's on a laptop.

    Hello jerrylumpe

    1. If you use an old mouse, try to clean it.

    2. you can have a running process in the background that keeps XP thinking that he is busy and so the screen standby does not start.
Go to msconfig and uncheck everything you don't need, then see if the screensaver will kick in.

    Start/run and type
    Msconfig
    Ok

    Startup tab
Keep the page open then click on the link below. It will tell you what are all the entries and see if you can disable them or not

    http://www.SysInfo.org/STARTUPINFO.html

Read the key at the foot of the page, then click on "Here" at the top. Use the search box to check all your entries

    Try this too
    http://www.kellys-Korner-XP.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 51 left side. Click on "toggle".

It could be that something is resetting the timer. For example, it does take much vibration to move the mouse a little, and which will reset the timer to zero. Something like that would be possible? Or a pet that walks on the keyboard?
