Screensaver freezes. I have to type ctrl-alt-delete. Also, I get a message saying that explorer.exe is running, but no programs are running.

Original title: help! MOM's computer

is running "Vista Home Premium-service Pack2. Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz 2 GHz ram - 64-bit operating system. For some reason, not all the time, its 'images' Screensaver freezes and I have to hit ctrl-alt-del to reactivate the use of the computer. I noticed that when I make a new start, I get a message saying explorer.exe is running, but no programs are running. When I chose to turn it back on, restarting solves the problem... temporarily? until that (I don't know when) this 'explorer.exe' Decides to run again in the background? Advice?
