SD-2212 drive does not read some DVD - Satellite 1410
Hello every1,
I have the Satellite 1410 604 for more than 2 years, with player combo mentioned above...
It serves me right, except that it does not read certain types of dvd media, and I use only high quality DVD Verbatim...
It happens that in the last months. It is not my main computer but it's to use in my house, and it really bothers me when my sister or father takes the new A60 Pro satellite on the road (its battery is better), I can't use last discs on it. So if there is a cause of upgrade, firmware I can't find on this site...
Thanks in advance...
Hello
I don t think that the firmware update will solve this problem because this pilot acknowledged this DVD some time ago.
In addition, I put t found any firmware of this drive on the Toshiba site.
But check if the disk by removing the procedure will solve this problem. So why go to Device Manager and remove the disc. After again starting the operating system should recognize the drive again
Good bye

Satellite A30-404: DVD player does not read some DVD
Hello
I have a satellite A30-404, and recently, I installed a new firmware update for my TOSHIBA DVD - ROM SD-R6112. (page can be found [here | http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=NL&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 153 & selProduct = 518 & langua ge = 33 & selOS = 10 & selType = all & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 28 & selectedLanguage = 33 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 46804 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42])
Since then, I can't play some DVD I write, for the most part, the 4 GB DVD +, for example, I can perfectly read a 1, 3 GB DVD with 3 multisessions.
However, other computers can read the DVD I can't.
Help would be appreciated.
Maybe the new firmware does contain all of the information on the DVD.
Do you know what firmware is or what information it contains? The firmware of the drive contains simple information about the support that can be used, what burning/reading speed is supported, which average manufacturer is compatible, etc.
Maybe the new firmware contains other information such as and therefore CD/DVD cannot be played correctly.
I think in this case, you need to test different CDs/DVDs and try to burn at a different rate.PS:

Qosmio overheats after an hour and some ODD does not read some DVD
OK here is the first:
I've had my Qosmio for about 4 months now, and everything has been for the most part works well. Recently, it seems that my computer has heating in an hour or two more.
I used to be on it all day when I got it and never came across this problem. I checked the 'suckage' of the air vents on the bottom and noticed that one of the two events seem to be sucking air. I was wondering if one is saposed to work, if it didn't is that you say, I have to do to solve this problem.
Second question:
When I got my laptop hard drive wouldn't read no matter WHAT disc I put in it. It wouldn't read any games, I tried to download. So I called toshiba tech support and they helped me to get it fixed and now it will read my games and CD but it will not always read my DVD I try and watch.Should I call tech support and ask for help again?
Thanks for the help
Hey,.
What laptop Qosmio you have exactly?
On the problem of overheating can dust blocks a good air circulation. You must clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air. This can blow the dust from the cooling fans. Spray of compressed air can be bought from every store in the computer normally.Regarding your other question, can start you on DVD for example? You should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
May be there is dust on the lens. You need to clean the lens of the CD/DVD drive using a microfibre cloth. It s worth a try! ;) -

CD/DVD drive does not read discs on Equium A100
My cd/dvd drive does not read any discs be it, white, written or commercially written. It opens and closes and is light to show that he is working on. Device Manager indicates that the device is functioning properly.
Tried the update of drivers, no update available. Tried restoring the system back 1 day and 1 week and 1 month, then and still the problem cannot be corrected. When I put a cd/dvd in the drive and try to access it, it says: D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.
Can someone help me I tried everything my friends and I can think, or is it better to send just to toshiba warranty.
If the solution proposed by James will not help, you should try to remove the drive to CD/DVD in Device Manager.
After phone restart the operating system will recognize and initialize the disk again.
After this review of the procedure if you can read, write the middle. -
My laptop is Pressario V2000. My laptop does not read the dvd, but another laptop reads the same dvd. PL is the solution. Thank you
Try another DVD to verify that your laptop can read at least the other DVD. If he can't play other DVD's then you need to replace the DVD - CD ROM drive supplied with your Pressario.
Another thing you can try is to check fingerprints or scratches on the DVD, some DVD players are more sensitive than others.

CD player does not read the series Satellite A recovery CD
Hello
I have a laptop my father gave to me and I need to restore it before using it for me because it works very slowly.
I have the restore cd but I have problems with the cd player.
It does not read some CDs, but it will not read the cd recovery so its as if it is not there. Is it possible to restore it without the cd? I'm not very super-friendly up with computers, so please simplify if possible.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Claire.
You can try to boot from the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
Check if this CD is readable. Then you can download the drivers from Toshiba from the European driver Toshiba page and could install the drivers
A few words about the CD drive problem, it seems that the goal of readers can calibrate in the right position and therefore some CD or DVD is not readable
In most cases, the CD/DVD drive should be replaced to solve these problemsSee you soon

Tecra M2 - DVD/CD drive does not read
I have a Tecra M2 with the DVD Rom/CD burner.
When a disc is inserted, it runs but does not read - light stays on. After a few eject and reinsert the cycles he usually manages to play the disc. Long the standing problem which affects different DVD and CD discs. Have used a disc cleaner to clean lens.
Does anyone know if this is likely a faulty hardware or a driver problem?
Thank you

Hello
You sounds of description as the lens of the drive cannot calibrate in the right position.
Usually before the player will read or write the middle of what the lens must be calibrated.
In you case the lens can not calibrate and that's why the drive does not recognize the CD.Usually in this case, the drive must be replaced.
But maybe you are a lucky man. Try to clean the lens gently. But be careful
