  • Instructions to remove the search engine do not work, the "delete" button remains grayed out check marks independently. Is there another way that actually works?

The Firefox Support instructions below do not work in version 36. The button 'delete' is never gray State asset once the unwanted/s search engine are checked for removal. I tried one at a time and in groups, it does everything just as they suggest below.

    Delete a search engine

You can remove search engines, that you don't need by performing the following steps on the search bar in the toolbar or on the page tab.

Click the search engine icon and select Manage Search Engines... to open the search engines manager.
To remove a search engine, select it from the list, and click Remove.

If you accidentally delete a default search engine, click on restore default values to recover the default search engines.

If you accidentally delete a search engine that you installed, you must re-install it.

I found the solution, the surprisingly simple. Thanks to everyone for trying, but against all the recommendations after a new analysis of malware, virus and upgrade to the latest version released on March 5, 2015... Here is the fix:

Left click on the dropdown search button, then left click on the "change search settings." Ignore completely the checkboxes as suggested by Mozilla. The text of the search engine you want to delete to highlight in blue in the Middle, click on the grey Out button below should become active. The only function of the boxes by the search engine will make them visible or not when using the search box in Firefox. The solutions proposed by others seems logical, but I learned more than 4 decades as a technician in computer science, opt for the simple solution first. Thank you all for your suggestions, this fix works for versions 36 and 36.0.01on Windows 7. I guess it should work for other OS also.

  • After updating Firefox, most of my search engine options have changed, the United States, the United Kingdom and I am unable to get the USA those back. Of course, Google does not change.

After updating Firefox, most of my available search engines top right changed the United States to the UK (except Google I'd rather not use) versions. I'm unable to retrieve Yahoo USA or Amazon or Ebay search engines.

The sounds that you got the version of Firefox GB with the update.

You can download en version and uninstall the current version of en - us and install the US version.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you will also lose your personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

  • instead of my google search engine usual next to the field address, all of a sudden, I have a wikilpedia research onl windo

At the top of the screen on a page web I generally had the address in the top field and right, there was always a Google search engine. Now that the window has disappeared and all I have is a significant window of Wikipedia and I can get Wikipedia search results. It's like they have taken over.

Thanks - Google seems to not be of any help in this area.

  • A search engine click always uses the default search engine

In the search bar, I type the word London and press enter and get the results of a search Google (default search engine).
I click on the magnifying glass to open the search drop-down list and click the icon for Wikipedia (to perform a search on Wikipedia for the word London). However, the results are not Wikipedia but are the same as my previous research on Google. The only way I can get the research to be done on Wikipedia is to change Wikipedia to my default search engine.
Am I misunderstand how the search with a single click is supposed to work, or you can tell me what I need to change to make it work?
    Thank you

Using the arrow keys or tab to the search engine icon had the same result by clicking on the icon to directly search engine, any search engine was selected the search is always performed by the default search engine.
Running in Mode safe solves the problem
Classic deactivation restaurateur theme does not solve the problem, but disabling 'Tab control 0.5.5' solve the problem . In the reviews of this add-on a few users have mentioned this as a problem. I've removed "Tab control" as an add-on (even though I liked some of its features) because it is no longer maintained.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • The search engine used to open the selections in a new tab. Is not doing that. How can I get that back?

I prefer Yahoo search. In previous versions of Firefox, the search engine could pull the top of the list of possible sites. By clicking on the link would open this site in a new page. He is not doing that. There is no that opens the link forcing me to constantly go back to the place just to be able to close the new tab if it's not what I'm looking for. How can I get the old way to work again?

    https://Ixquick.com/do/search?Lui=English & Language = English & cat = Web & query = Firefox

To set the keyword. URL, make sure that the URL ends with query = and Firefox will add your search terms on the end.

I had always thought that search engines were unable to crawl and index RoboHelp content for SEO purposes.  But many of the pages on my site www.numbercruncher.com client are appearing in Google search results.  Can someone help me understand what are the constraints for this? Hi Lyza

I hope that John won't mind my offer here a few snippets that can help illustrate the issue.

Maybe a little experience will help here.

Open Google and search for the term: build labels on the infusion and note high link see you. It should read February 2004.

Click on this link and note what you see.

Now click on the following link: click here to see

    Sound familiar?

What you should see is a page within a WebHelp system. Nothing special that it either has been done to make this happen. In other words, search engines have been able to index this page simply because it is available on the web. No site map has been created. Nothing special was done.

Some people are working under the assumption that, because WebHelp and FlashHelp are presented using framesets, this content can be found. This may have been true years ago, but advances in the methods of indexing overcome this issue a long time ago.

Now, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a completely different animal and there are entire companies and consultants who profess to help SEO and increase your ranking.

    See you soon... Rick

  • How to change the search engine when you use the functionality of Firefox Home button Search?

In Firefox itself, I have configured duckduckgo as my default search provider.

But when I use the host Firefox search button it is always defined on google and I don't see any possibility to change that?

I love the Firefox Home button Search (or whatever we call it) otherwise, but it's annoying that it does not use the default Firefox.

I use the Google Launcher now.

Hi mrt181, it is planned to use the same search engine as in firefox - however, there is a bug at the moment, so it does not apply in all situations.
usually, it will be enough to change the default engine in firefox back once to work around the problem in the search widget and get the same as set in the browser search provider.

  • Search engines have disappeared from the search bar/field 34.0.5

I updated to 34.0.5 a few days before and just noticed that I have more search engines in the field of research (although now all searches go to Yahoo).

If I open the "Edit Search Settings", it shows a lot of engines there, but when I click on OK, they still do not appear as options in the popdown Magnifier.

Very frustrated; It was exactly as I wanted before with a selected default engine and others available in the pop down.
    How to fix?

If you want to restore the window previously used independently to manage search engines, you can enable or disable this pref to false with a middle-click on the topic: config page.

    • topic: config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false

Close and restart Firefox to force change.

  • How can I access the dialog "Manage search engines", after you remove the search bar?

I removed the esarch bar, since I can get exactly the same functionality through the url bar (also called awsome bar, I think). I use several search engines but select the default ones with key words.

The only thing I'm missing is the ability to access the dialog box "manage search engines". The only geto him he seems to be the drop search bar icon. Is it possible to access this dialogue without having to add (and re - hide the afterwords) the search bar?

You can create a bookmark with this chrome URL:

    • chrome://browser/content/search/engineManager.XUL
  • Search engine continues to change the logo of firefox with 'Search The Web' and takes me to different search engines, Bing or Google so far. I don't want to. It used to be always on the Google, and I want to again permanently on Google. Help?

Just like the States mentioned above. This refers to the search bar on the right. I don't want to remove it, I like to use. I want to get back the Google value permanently. Even if I turn it on to Google in the drop-down menu, when I restart Firefox, it changes back. Once again, instead of any other logo of search engine, it has a small logo of Firefox, saying 'Web search' next to him in grey if no text is entered. He often gives Bing search results, even if I deleted Bing in search engines installed.

I also checked the default search engine in topic: config, and despite what I describe above, the default value is still on Google.

Why this is happening and how to fix it? It didn't happen until the other day here, so it would be after the update to Firefox 6.

Go to your add-ons Manager and disable extensions test pilot.

Fixed a problem. Someone should pay me now!
