Search for a substring

Hi all

I wonder if the following is possible in number. I have a table like the one below.

Name Number of days
John Smith 4
Aaron Smith 3
John Jones 2

Would it not possible using the SUMIF function with another function to create a cell that returns the total number of days for each person with "Smith" in their names. In other words, I could get a 7 (4 + 3) value returned by a formula?

Hi potatonator,

Ensure that:

C1: = SUMIF(A,"*Smith*",B)

Note that ' * Smith * "will include all of these additional names, except the last.

The asterisk is a "generic". For more information on the use of wildcards in numbers, go help (menu), then enter "generic" (without the quotes) and choose one of the elements that appears.

Kind regards

Barry

Or is there another possibility to display headings 'Standardeinstellungen', 'Sondereinstellungen' and 'Einstellungen' if anyone "Einstellungen"?

No substrings are not an option in HTML Help.

The problem is that the Microsoft Help compiler should be used by all the help authoring tools and who does not understand the substrings or synonyms that are available in webhelp.

It is not the best solution, but if your background color of the subject is blue, you can add a few words at the end of the section also in blue. Attention if they printed.

  • Search for the last occurrence of a substring

How to search for the last occurrence of a substring in a string? In more detail: I have the array with the names of files, and I want to split the file name extension in a separate column. The name extension doesn't have a fixed rate with (can be 'c', "" jpg"or"mpeg", etc.), and names of files themselves can contain points (if this is possible:"recording.of.last.meeting.mpeg".)

So the only way to extract the name extension is to look for the last appearance of a dowry and split on everything after the last point. How can I do this? I worked with a sybase database before and there was a string function to search for the right of the string. Is there something similar in Oracle?

If you're on 10g, you can

    with t
    as
    (
    select 'recording.of.last.meeting.mpeg' file_name from dual
    )
    select regexp_replace(file_name,'^.+\.') fiel_extension

  • search for substring with Oracle context index

    Hello

I would like to know if it is possible to make a substring search with one of the obtion with context indexes offer.
    (ctxcat, ctxrule, context)

    example:

I want to search for the word "berub" in a column in table_example.

the value in the column are:

    The betther
    Bérubé
    A.Berube
    berub
    Berub
    BERUB
    Bell R
    S tartif
    Y Thibeault

    the return line must be:

    Bérubé
    A.Berube
    berub
    Berub
    BERUB
    Bell R

    Could be a simple sql

    Select * from table_example, where upper (a) as superior ('% berub %');)

How can I do the same action with the index of context and select a statement (catsearch, contains, matches), if it is possible?

    An example would be welcome

Create your own list of words, and add an attribute substring_index to it. And then create the index with the preference just created.

  • Search for names of file with Engine.SearchFiles?

I posted my comment to a solved thread: http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/searchfiles/td-p/2364238/page/2

and I don't have a solution. If I post in a new thread now.

Is it possible to search for substring in a file name using the Engine.SearchFiles method? I know, that there is a SearchOptions_RegExpr, but I couldn't know how to search for file names. I can find files that contain expressions, variables etc but not file names.

    So, is it still possible?

SearchFiles is only for research purposes in the files. Take a look at the FindFiles sequence in:

    \Components\Tools\ForEach.SEQ

This sequence search for all files in a directory tree by using direct calls to the WIN32 API. You could probably just call this sequence directly to do what you ask.

Look in the String class and its methods, specifically the indexOf() (to find) and substr() (of extraction) methods.

  • The search for Clob columns in interactive report

I use APEX 3.2 with 10g. I have an interactive report with a query that takes several recordings of 'comments' and the concatenates using a function that returns a Clob. In the report, there are several of these comments columns mixed with some small varchar2 columns.

Using the search bar, if I type in a Word and click OK, it does not seek my Clob columns. On the other hand, I can use the drop-down list in the search bar to indicate I want to only search one of these Clob columns, then the research works.

Is there a reason that my filters 'Text line contains' do not include my Clob columns? I have defined, as the "Standard report column" and they all "filter" checked as a permitted operation.

    Greg

I found a work around for this problem. IR reports do not seem to automatically search for CLOB columns as a search ROWTEXT (unless you are specifically targeting this column). So, I wrapped the CLOB column with:

    DBMS_LOB.substr(clob_column_name,4000,1)

This converts the CLOB Varchar2 column, which made the report «see» IR Of course, this only works if you want to search for the first 4000 bytes, but the data in my CLOB columns are never more than a few sentences long.

So I have to change the default to Google Maps then back to Google to search for one.

I have it! It's the topic: config "hiddenoneoffs" where the 3 elements of google, maps and mcafee have been included. There was no space between Google and maps. I put one in from Google Maps. She appeared in the first box-ff, but not sure about the search in the second time zone. I went back to the subject: one-offs. Safe search was shown with a space after Secure. I took out the space. Safe search arose in the 2nd single search box!
Weird! This is contrary to how they show in the search parameters.
