  We have a few Multi functional Cannon, who were able to scan to folder to our file server 2008 R2 server.

  Nothing has changed for folders or shares. Actions are like:

  \\fs01\scans\IT

  Shared folder is \\fs01\scans

  Share permissions are full for everyone

  On the COMPUTER folder, only the service and the Canon scanner user have full conrol...

  When I turn off the firewall of Windows on the FS01, it works.

  Can I get a SMB = OK on the Multi functional.

  When I turn on the WIndows firewall, I get a SMB = NG on the multifuntional

  I checked the rules and everthing about file and printer sharing is allowed...

  Can someone please think about what to do?
  Because really don't want to go with Windows Firewall disabled.

  The Endpoint Protection 2010 Anti Virus is installed on the FS01, but given that disabling the Windows Firewall works, I don't think that the Anti Virus has nothing to do with it.

  Update: I tried two other servers 2008 R2 (with also the Windows Firewall on) and it works! So there's something wrong with this one server... But as far as I can see, the firewall has all the file and open sharing of printers of things... And when I connect with the Canon Scan on a PC user I can browse places very well.

  Outlook.com has a manual spell at the top next to the options button control. It won't appear that if you write an e-mail AND if your browser is not checking spelling himself. In most modern browsers the spell checking is done by the browser itself and may need to be enabled in this browser

• LR 5 doesn't work is not on the new Macbook Pro.

  LR 5 doesn't work is not on the new Macbook Pro.  Have tried 2 CC downloads, download licensed 5.6 and 5.5 download licensed, all the results in the same thing.  It comes up with the screen base but no signs and gives that an error occurred when changing the modules.  Nothing I have tried seems to help.  He also said "start with lightroom mobile at the top on the left, although it said it's Lr 5.6.  Anyone else having problems?  Calls to adobe are no help and have to wait until Monday for technical support.  Surely this must run on a NEW laptop with any other installed software!

  Setup logs was very good.  Application installed but is not working properly.  Finally got Adobe support and it turns out be a file permissions error.  Had to add applications and myself as accessors of the Lightroom folder under ~/Library/Adobe/ path and set permissions to read & write (was read only for everything except system) and apply to all the cases closed.   Works fine now.  Including this here in case when someone else is going through this issue.

• Search for text in the file Excel, Explorer, does not.

  Have a workbook (.xlsm).  In a cell, there is a simple text value (not the result of a formula).  The value is "Homestreet. I type Homestreet in the search box on Windows Explorer.  By the Explorer, the file is not found.  Many users report similar complaints, and so I found several suggested solutions that sounded quite peremptorily declared. So, I have and have done or checked all of the following items, but still the file is not found when I search for it using Windows Explorer.

  o that I have rebuilt the index (which was like 24 hours or more).
  o in the Explorer. Search folder options, I chose "always search file names and contents", "include subfolders" and "find partial matches."
  o in the Panel. Indexing Options. Advanced | Types of files, the file of type "xlsm", it is checked and the option for "Properties Index and contents of the file" button is selected for that file type.
  o checking attributes advanced in each folder to the folder containing the file, 'allow files in this folder to have content indexed in addition to the properties' is checked.
  I have no idea why should have to do all these things simply to find text in an excel file, but I have them all.  Seems to be a very poor design something that should just be simple. Seems more reliable to find something on the internet, with a simple and direct search by typing text into a search box, to find something on my local C drive! But, beyond this comment... the result of all the above is effort... still, the search does not find the file!
  So is there any other suggestions to get the Search Explorer to work? (Or, if you have any suggestions for a good a third-party tool efficiently search my local disc C, which can actually search the contents of Excel files, this suggestion would be appreciated, too).

  I have a pdf document that is 1000 + pages long. I wonder if there is a way to search for certain words in a certain amount of pages; for example, if I wanted to find the term "heart", but only in pages 560-600. Is there a way to do this?

  This option is not available. If you do a Ctrl + F, click on the arrow pointing downwards in the search window and choose "open research to drive full" then "Show more options", you will see all the options available.

• I don't know how to change the size and quality of the text on the screen on Windows 7

  I just installed a new Windows 7 but I don't know how to change the size and quality of the text on the screen.  I tried all the things normal, resolution, size of icons, dpi etc but nothing gives me what I want.  The text in clear 'wonderful' thing is just terrible.  When I go through the 4 steps I see no text boxes which make the text nothing better.  All options are terrible, so the result on screen is too terrible.  When I do any huge I do not get a full screen of things - view the Start button disappears or I did not closing small cross at the top - of the suggestions to inprove the situation?  I must mention that my screen/monitor is 2006 - I need to buy a new one?  How much is this Windows 7 is going to cost me, or maybe I should go back to XP!

  I sincerely thank all you smart "technicians" for all the answers you always gave myself and all others who ask questions.  I'm not too smart with all this new technology as I fell into it very late.  I am now in my 60s and only started using a pc when I was over 50 years so...  In any case, I asked a question about the size of screen resolution and text and received much good advice from all that you guys.  I had recently changed in XP to Windows 7.  However, the bit of advice that I was given in 'Cyberking' here at the Portugal had set the resolution of the screen, the advanced settings, 75 to 60 Hertz Monitor tab.  Very basic, and the first question asked the technician (Lady) was "what size is your screen?  Naturally as a smaller screen that any 'techno' would be considered dead aid, solving the problem was simple and straightforward without me having to stretch my knowledge and my skills by downloading all programes weird (to me) or do the funny stuff in the bios or something else.  I send this comment to you for you to realize that the simple solution is not always bad and maybe we should go for the easiest first and then work up to the more difficult ones.

  Just for you all to see - now my screen resolution is perfect, the text on the screen is clear and legible without difficulty, even though the size of text and icon is small.  Clarity is all!

  There are three icons of the toolbar I need to change the popup text.
  They are:

  "Window or close the open tab".
  "Close all tabs but the selected one.
  "Close all tabs".

  I would like to know where this text is stored so that I am able to change my wording preferred, such as:

  "Close this tab".
  "Close other tabs".
  "Close all Tabs" - OK, the last one is great!

  OK, I found the text.

  The text is called the "tooltip" and it is an extension called "buttons of the toolbar.

  The file is called "button.dtd" and is located in the buttons.xpi toolbar / chrome / button.jar / local / en - us.

  I edited the text, replace the .dtd file in button.jar, updated the button.jar file in the as file and reinstalled.

  Now my ToolTips, look like I want to.

• Windows product key doesn't work is not for the reinstallation of Windows 7

  So my Lenovo (B560) became super slow and I want to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7. But when I looked on the Microsoft Web site and tried to check my key I received the following message is displayed:

  "The product key you have entered seems to be the software that was preinstalled by the manufacturer of the device. Contact the manufacturer of the device for software recovery options.

  The product key that I used was the COA sticker under the laptop which was indeed different from one I receovered from the register. In any case, I tried both and none worked.

  Ideas for how can I proceed?

  You must install OEM Lenovo recovery disks or a recovery partition to use the key.

• Adjust the options in window "open / save on" shortcut

  Hello!

  I want to set the options of default shortcuts on the left side of the open standard / save the window that pops up every time I have open or save a file in a program (see photo).

  For example I would like to add an external HARD drive that I save all my files from. For the moment, I have always access this place, rather than just clicking on an icon in the left corner and choose the drive HARD or any other folder that I specify.

  I guess it's possible, but I can't seem to find the option to do so.

  It is not possible for the end user - the programmer who built it decides what can go.

  That's why this style of box is no longer the norm: it was too limited.  In a modern program built for Windows, you would actually see this new box instead:

  This new box has a section of "Favorites" that you can add your own links, and there is no limit to how many you can have.  Microsoft encourages all manufacturers of program to use this new style box.

  I found a solution that works, first the version no N or N has not worked for me, I was not able to find the option 'Add features' no matter what I did.

  If you use an MSDN subscription and you can download software, download and install iso from windows indicating "Windows 8.1 with update (several editions) (x 64) - DVD (English)", once the installation starts it will ask a key use, get a key for windows 8 pro, once this is made, you will have to 'Add Windows features' available, that's all it took , it seems that iso of windows 8 pro does not have this feature turned on, but the multiple editions seems to have a different version of the operating system.

  With that I could buy the pack of Windows Media Center, and now I'm under Windows Media Center on Windows 8.1 pro.

• Text in the speech Management window

  Kind of a strange thing with CP6: I can paste text in the window management of the speech and to a certain extent, I can edit the text in this window, but I can't copy and paste text outside this window. This was not the case with CP5. And it's kinda a pain-in-the-A. Everyone has noticed this?

  OK, well I guess that IT IS possible to copy the text in the window of the speech management, using CTRL-click to reveal a drop-down list of options. It's just that the usual keyboard shortcuts do not work.
