Second monitor with Tecra M11 - 17V

Tecra M11 - 17V. I can get a second monitor running, but this screen shows the same image in the laptop monitor. I want to have two different documents on display at the same time: one on the laptop and another on the second monitor.

Is it possible or impossible?

Of course you can do it. All you need to do is use the "Extended desktop" option.
Test it please.

  • Tecra M11 - 17V - identify the serial port on the docking station

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M11 - 17V, which I often use with the docking station that accompanies it.
There is a DB9 serial port at the back of the docking station, but I don't know what COM Port.

    I use Windows 7.

In the device, COM9 Manager - COM22 are identified as Port BT (bluetooth). Com7 - COM8 are RIM Virtual Serial Port v2, COM17 is Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and COM18 is USB-Serial CH340.

I thought that COM17 or COM18 were the most likely candidates, but have not been able to get to answer using one of them.

I connect a Psion 5 (Comms app) to him and have developed ports and the Psion 8bits, 19200 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit.

    > There is a serial port DB9 on the back of the docking station, but I don't know what COM Port, it is

I think you have misunderstood something wrong
COM ports in Device Manager are virtual com ports
There is no link between a serial port and a virtual com port.

I have a question: what docking station you have exactly?

I had an express port replicator and this device required an additional serial port driver installation.

  • PC HP 8560w: second monitor with Windows 10

I have upgraded to Windows 10 and my second monitor will not work. On Windows 7, I was running my second monitor with a USB 3.0 port. Apparently, 10 Windows does not support this configuration. How can I feed my second monitor in Windows 10 using either a USB 3.0 or MIC port?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm running an additional monitor in Win10 to a USB connection, but it uses a USB adapter / VGA, and to make it work, I had to install the drivers that came with the card.  Before that I did, Win10 has not even seen the monitor.

  • How to set up a second monitor with a different view than the one on my laptop? [was: ron]

I'm trying to set up a second monitor with a different view than the one on my laptop.  I have a HP Pavilion dv5 laptop and a secondary monitor View Sonic UP2365-LED.  They are connected with a cable 15 pin... my only choice on the laptop.  When I select the second monitor, it displays a box of a second on my laptop and the secondary monitor.  My pointer moves on both screens at the same time, no matter what display, I select the monitor 2.

It depends on the whther the laptop can support both points of view.

Somewhere with the right button on the desktop, choose "screen resolution" and that there should be only a drop down menu entitled "multiple displays".  Looks like you have "displays a duplicate" choose (if it will leave you) "to extend these screens.

  • Is it possible to use a second monitor with Windows 7 starter edition.

Original title: I want to thank my screen on a second monitor, but my pack to boot windows 7 does not give me this option. Should I upgrade to Windows 7 only for this, or are there free tools/downloads available?

It does not recognize the monitor, but it's simply not show the option "extend the screens/monitors" in the menu dropdown.

Unfortunately, you have not the possibility to extend your desktop to an external monitor or projector in Windows 7 Starter edition. It would be best to upgrade to Windows 7 family premium, professional, Ultimate or enterprise.

For more information, see the following links:

    Move windows between multiple monitors

Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade

  • Tecra M11 - 17V with Windows 7 - the webcam image is very grainy

Yesterday my webcam (integrated in the laptop) worked perfectly, now it's not...

Whenever I use it now, the picture is very grainy, almost like a pattern of tartan of intersection of lines, but I can still pretty much do myself in the background. Movement and sound are still saved, just the image is strange.

Help, please! Anyone had this happen? I can fix myself, or is this a hardware problem? I got this laptop 3 months, again, and this is the first problem I had...

    Thank you very much

Usually, the lens of the webcam is covered by a thin sheet that must be removed for the first time. But I think that you did in the past because the webcam worked correctly in the past. Right?

Well, I think you could try to reinstall the webcam software.
Not sure if that helps, but it's worth a try, then try it.

  • Radio Frequency Interference on external monitor with Tecra M10

I have a Tecra M10 that seems to emit RFI, causing lines of interference on the external VGA monitor and audible interference on its speakers.
I was worried that this might be a hard drive in trouble, but before the call to support, decided to continue the investigation.

First I tried unplugging all USB devices; the intervention was still there, so I tried to unplug the PC from the Express Port Replicator.
As I moved forward, the noise has been reduced, and this led me to check the power supply.
The unit is a 5 amp unit, PA3378-3AC3, and that seems to be the source of the DDR.

Port replicator came with a spare unit 5 amp, PA2521E-2AC3, but there is too little noise from it.

So I checked the two supplies with and without the duplicator.
    Noise each time.

Suggestions - is something wrong or it is to be expected with the Tecra M10 RFI?

Have you checked if the same question would be displayed using the laptop with the own plugged AC adapter.
Someone had very similar problem and it was a problem to the ground using a power cable 3 pins for different could solve this problem.

But of course the question could be also related to the monitor cable external doggy.
The user in this thread has this issue.
The replacement of the power cable supplied with the monitor helped.

It s worth a try check it out...

  • Use external monitor with Tecra A9 problem

    Hi all

I have laptop Tecra A9 with Intel 965 Express Chipset and Windows XP Professional. I use graphics driver
I tried to implement the configuration to use the external monitor as extended desktop.

My laptop screen is 1680 x 1050 and external monitor is 1280 x 1024 and I want to configure it to be as follows:
the two screens to work in their native resolutons
monitor 1 is portable and it's on the right side, external is 2 and it's on the left
And it works fine until I put in Hibernate or restart. After this external monitor is 1 and it is on the left and laptop screen is 2 and it's on the right.
In addition, laptop screen resolution is 800 x 600 now and all the desktop icons are messy.
I'd appreciate any help with this.

    Thank you.

Maybe you should try a page Intel graphics card driver?
I m not quote sure which version is the most recent but all of the details you will find on the Intel page.

By the way; First remove the old graphics driver before you install the most recent update!

  • Temporary blocking frequent on Tecra M11

I had two notebooks Tecra M11 - 17V. (the first was stolen and replaced by an identical)
They both had the same problem where the machine would sometimes freeze for about 5-10 seconds.

Frost occurs usually when you move the mouse over a button or a menu, for example, the close button in any window.
It produced whenever the mouse passes over, just sometimes. Occasionally, it occurs when a right-click.

Usually the laptop will resume without problems, but some applications after lock up what happens.
    Particularly in Firefox.

The problem occurred from the moment that I got the laptop, with just the base Windows 7 install.
Excatly the same on both machines.

    No error is reported.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

These short glaciations are mainly related to CPU or memory allocated.
In some cases, it could refer to a software installed.

I found this FAQ from Toshiba:
+ Intermittend hang up or freeze your machine (possible high rotation FAN) on Windows 7-32 Bit / 64 Bit +.

In this document, you can find a tip that finger print update could solve some distorted hang up or freeze.

  • The second monitor connected to the Satellite Pro A100 "disconnect" himself

I use my laptop - Satellite Pro A100 (PSAACE) - with a second monitor with no problems until I did an upgrade to Windows Vista. After installation, the second monitor starts to show problems, i.e. that works intermittedly. Every 5 seconds or so the monitor "unplug" itelf and caps again. I hear the (UN) plug sound when she did this and the two displays flickers during this period.

Can someone suggest a solution to this problem?

I put t know what can be the problem but it sounds like the connection problem. Make sure that the monitor is connected correctly. Also try to test it with another external monitor. Is perhaps the cable or connector defective.

  • Satellite 1130-Z31: impossible to get 1600 x 900 on the second monitor

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1130-Z31 (an old, but everything works well).

Now, I have attached a second monitor with a native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.

I put the second screen resolution to 1600 x 900, it is accepted.

However, the image on the second monitor is ugly, and the external monitor´s what OSD says it gets 1440 x 900 pixel laptop computer signals.

It seems that Toshiba sends an image with a lower resolution on the whole.

I installed the latest graphic driver - no change.

Or would it be a problem with a bad quality VGA cable or almost?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the info which resolutions are supported for external screens, but if you can't get 1600 x 900 pixels which means that this resolution is not supported by the graphics card.
