Sector/battery adapter

Hi all! I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv5-1004nr 64-bit. For some time now, my computer was unable to run on just the battery alone without the AC adapter. The icon in the status bar indicates this: 0% available (plugged in, load). However, does not have the battery icon indicating that he is in charge. I did some troubleshooting according to which, to uninstall Microsoft compatible control method battery ACPI and then reinstall it. It worked, and the battery icon was starting to fill up as he was in charge. After about two minutes, it just goes back to the do not load. The second, I get out of the AC adapter, my computer turns off. I also used the peripheral troubleshooting battery check, and she came back as "Invalid", which was not one of the options such as: poor, weak, good, bad, etc. which should appear. So I think it's one of two things. Either the battery is dead and I need to buy a new one, there is a software problem or an update that must be installed for the battery charge upward. If someone had a similar problem, or may offer a form any opinion, that would be great. Thank you in advance for your help.

So I tried the battery Checker, and he introduced himself as the battery is 'Poor' and told to replace it. So I guess I now know the problem haha. Thank you both for your answers/help!

    Thank you.

It may be a problem with the power supply, the internal connections between the charger and the battery, or the battery itself.  I'd put my money on the battery is bad, if the system is with the AC adapter - but there is no real way to tell other than to have the system serviced by a reputable computer repair shop or the manufacturer.  First I remove battery and replace to make sure that the connection is not the problem.  You could just try to replace the battery and see if that solves the problem - make sure you get the CORRECT one for your brand and model of computer or it may not only not work, but could also cause more damage that may already exist (otherwise, be sure before you buy it you can return it for a full refund).  The decision is yours.  This certainly isn't a software problem and it isn't a hardware problem, that we are able to diagnose remotely without the right tools and replace parts to see where the error is located.

Here is an article on hardware problems troublesshooting tht can help, but I don't think it will be in this case because you do not have access to parts and equipment for a good test: http://elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot.

  • Battery adapter

I want to ask that when my hp notebook pc 2000 is fully charged so I can use it on adapter to 100% or if I unplugged the charger to use it on battery? Is - harmful to the battery to use laptop on AC adapter when it is fully charged to 100%?

    Hello

Here is a document on the battery performance promotes that contains lots of information and advice on the maintenance of the battery.

And here's a quote from this document:

'' If the laptop is used mainly on the sector, let the battery completely discharge and recharge once a month. ''
  • Satellite A300D - 17G: some strange behaviors of the battery/adapter

    Help, please!
My Satellite A300D - 17G stopped abruptly to recharge the battery. AC is plugged in, but it won't charge the battery and indicates "0% remaining. All contacts have been checked several times, without result. Do I have to replace the AC/DC adapter?

    Hello

Can you turn on the laptop with AC adapter only?
If so, then it means that your adapter is OK.
In this case, I would try new battery.

  • My Satellite phone (A305) stops operating on the sector/charger adapter

The problem is that my Toshiba laptop series _A300 (A305) stops when you try to run on the Charger AC/adapter_. You can start with the power cord plugged in and it goes to the Windows desktop and maybe a few more minutes to the maximum before turning off.

It will start and battery without problem_ _run, but if you plug the AC while it is in place and running on machine battery will normally DESACT instantly and restart to the message "Windows has been shut down properly."

The adapter _AC works fine_ reading a 19.19 to 19.20 stable volts with a volt meter. He also _charges battery very well when the computer is ignored. I have two Toshiba brand batteries, and both work very well.

An interesting thing is that the _computer works well on AC if safe mode_.

I _did a restore_ of reformat/factory of Vista to ensure it was not software and drivers and still had the same problem before external devices had been plugged.

It has the latest version of the BIOS and I tried to reset the values by default where something had changed. It made no difference.

This is _not an issue_ of heating because _while it works on battery I can watch long videos_ without it cutting. I ran the air through the vents in order to ensure, but it makes no difference in behavior. Usually with overheating stop, the computer cannot be started until it has cooled some, but these cases are accompanied by Instant reboot.

I saw on a few discussions that this type of problem, you can work around by disabling one of the processors in the Device Manager, but I don't think it is a big part of a sustainable solution or for the computer.

Has anyone seen this problem before and you come up with a complete diagnosis of the problem and a real solution?

I have the Satellite A300 and so far everything works OK.

I would like to know what happens when you remove the battery and use the laptop with power supply only. Done laptop stops again.

If this is not the case, leave the BONES run and put the battery.
The battery is correctly recognized? Laptop turned off again?

To be honest, I can't imagine that this question has something with the software or background process. Recovery image, that you got with your laptop is designed for this specific laptop mode. Recovery image has been tested and I don t think preinstalled OS has nothing to do with it.

    Complete diagnosis?
And how to proceed? You know very well that the diagnosis can only be done with diagnostic tools, and these tools have only services. I hope that you find some answers but I m 99% there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe you should communicate with the service, explain the situation and ask for help.

    Hello!
I have my Satellite L300D since April last year, and suddenly my laptop does not start when the network adapter is not connected. Says battery 100% (full charge), when I am connected and started the system.

Anyone any idea why my laptop no start on battery alone?

I've already updated the BIOS to version 1.50, but it does not change a thing!

(My warranty until April, so should I send in for service?)

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello!

In your case I go for a local ASP (authorized service provider) and allow to check your laptop computer of these technicians.
I think that it s a hardware problem, maybe the battery is defective and if you can just start the laptop with AC/DC adapter.

  • My computer keep beep, sayplug in battery adapt, it is plugged. What can I do?

I can't stop my computer from a sound signal. He says to plug the battery, but it is connected to the computer. Its ruin my computer each time that it beep. WHA I can do? My battery does not charge.

    Hi AW-7,

Something similar just happened to me.  The first time they fixed it, they have replaced the adapter and the problem is solved.  5 months later it started to happen again and this time they replaced the battery, the motherboard and the milling table (thanks to heaven, it is still under warranty).  Fortunately, thanks to the new adapters, battery started to load and the experience does not seem to damage it in any way (but you should keep your eyes on it anyway just in case).

How they were able to say on my laptop - a Dell E1705 (other than just experience and common sense) was to go into the BIOS (starts, it should be a brief Flash on the screen telling you how to enter the BIOS setup or menu of the BIOS (usually F2) and check the battery information.  He showed that the power adapter 'unidentified' instead "90W" list which should be when it is working properly and that the battery was not complete and not charging well plugged.  They changed the motherboard and the roll the second time because it could also cause the adapter is not being recognized by the battery (or battery not the adapter to recognize the AC).

The beep is caused by power and its configured settings to warn you of a low and critical battery condition.  In a normal situation, the computer will work right next to the power adapter and does not the battery (it is a way to help maintain the battery life is to run periodically and refill if we leave normally plugged in most of the time).  If you remove the batttery entirely, the laptop will power?  If this isn't the case, it is certainly at least the adapter or the motherboard.  Eventually the battery will get if low, that he's going to sleep or hibernation, or the system stops (you should shut down normally before him to cold shutdown like that).  If If, then I expect the tone to go further because it will detect is no longer a low battery charge, because there is no battery - but then you'll want to be sure to use either a battery backup UPS, or at least a surge protector otherwise already in place because if you lose the laptop battery will crash hard and this is not good for her.

I'm using 32 bit Vista Business SP2 and in Control Panel / sounds / Sounds there is an option for low battery alert. The default to have this. In this situation, you can turn off to avoid the beep (even though I'm at a loss for which is why "it messes up your computer" when it does like all he must do is beep). In addition, you can go into Control Panel / Power Options, click the plan settings and click on battery.  It will provide you with levels of low battery and critical battery and you provide measures to be taken in such a case.  If you are unable to operate the system without battery and it is so weak that the alerts began, you probably fell to 11-5% remaining.  You can adjust actions to nothing for bass and stop to criticism that 5% is about as close as you want to get to the point where you can hang.  Then, you just need to wait until it is repaired and the appropriate parts are replaced.

Even if you have still some life in it, it is best to contact the manufacturer (they the some have the right parts) or a computer of reputable workshop to get a good diagnosis (perhaps by phone at first), a determination of what must be fixed, the applicable fees, schedule, if it is still under any kind of warranty , and what needs to be done in which order of repair.  They can find the adapter is OK and it is just the battery (or vice-versa or two or more).  But that's essentially where you need start.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Laptop won't turn on with dead battery/adapter plugged

Hello! Recently, the battery is dead on my Dell Studio 1558 but the adapter still works fine. It the Green LED lights up and it does on the laptop as well. So, I'm sure that it is powered. I even bought a new one of my local Best Buy today and that did not work.

My question is, how can I get the laptop to power more than a few seconds before his stop on me? There is no reason that I should have the battery working for it to turn on.

    Hi ghost712,

Disconnect the battery from the computer and turn on the computer only with the AC adapter / CC. Check if he computer turned on for a long time.

If so, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate the problem:

    1. Unplug the static (as appropriate) of the computer.
    2. To eliminate static electricity, unplug the AC adapter and the battery from the computer, and then press the power button for 10-15 seconds.
    3. Turn on the computer with only an adapter connected to the computer F2 key and tap several times to the Dell logo to access the BIOS.
    4. Under the main tab please check the type of AC adapter (i.e. If it says 65W/90W or something else).
    5. Then electric power the computer off and unplug the AC adapter from the wall and the laptop, for five to ten seconds.
    6. Make sure that the power adapter is disconnected long enough so that the LED on the power adapter to get out altogether.
    7. Connect the adapter and the battery in the computer, then turn on the computer.

    Please post the results.

  • Battery / adapter problems

Hello, my father bought me a HP pavilion g6 since more than a year. Recently, I had a problem. At first I thought that the battery was bad because it would only last 30 minutes maybe an hour at least, we bought another battery. It was working fine when I put the new battery! but now that I'm it loads a second time, she would charge then they would arrest and it says "plugged in, load. Also usually when it loads the light becomes red and now its flashing white... What's wrong?

    Hey beccak,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the battery not charging properly. One of the first steps you should try is to make sure that you have the latest version of the BIOS.

BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System/Service. It is the language that all the hardware components of your computer use to communicate with each other. There are updates coming out from time to time for this and it would be better to have the latest version. The following steps have been taken from here.

    1. Windows 7 : click Start , type msinfo32 in the search field, and then select msinfo32.exe in the list of results.

    Hi there everyone,

I hope you are all good, I kindly need to know what is the best way by which we can extend the battery from our PC, I had a friend who apparently frustrated because his laptop battery is almost dead then that PC disconnected electricity; It gives him only five minutes and the beep starts.

I think she always used his laptop plugged into the electricity, not frequent unloading / loading the battery and yet, I really appreciate it if you guys out there (blessed) could help me maintain my and his of (she bought a new battery lol) batteries.

Note: My Satellite A200 - 1 M 5 gives me 2.45 minutes after 4 months and I'm happy with that, I turn on my laptop disconnected to power (releases) often, but I feel that I can't explain or help others to look after your laptop battery.

Why we can not find the information seen on the Toshiba site maintenance?
    Maybe we didn't get!

    Hello

I think you're right research you didn t on the Toshiba page quite long ;)

I have consulted the European Toshiba support page and selected in the troubleshooting category option-> Solutions to common problems.

There I found the battery category, and then I found this article:

    * + How to configure my computer for optimal use of battery? + *
    http://www.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD5400Z60005R01.htm

It looks like an old FAQ document in any case the fact is that all batteries lose own performance after several times several years ago, it is advisable to remove the battery from the laptop to extend the battery life. This is not necessary with the new battery and generation of laptops.

However, many people remove the battery if the laptop works on sector (power adapter connected) This prevents the battery of standing of the charge and discharge.

  • Leakage current? Battery indicator?

My new Ideapad Y530 feel that there is a leakage current very low activity or subtle vibration when I touch the front of the keyboard Panel (the metal surface on each side of the key touch, in front of the keyboard). Is this normal? Is it a danger? It can be corrected?
