Security and Update Notification pop ups
With the recent very mischievous scam email which is supposed to contain a link for Barack Obama's acceptance speech, many people were concerned with their Flash Player and it is updating process. As you know, the link of the scam will lead them to a page, but he warns that they can not play the movie without an update of Flash Player. Of course, most people click on the link and instead of a Flash Player update, they install a recorder Trojan horse of strike (one report is a rootkit).Since we informed people of this attack, they said that they recently got the pop-up Flash Player on their computer with the notice they need to update their Flash Player to the latest version. My Help Desk said that they have never seen that before, so they are concerned, it is another method of attack.
Adobe Flash Player are looking for updates and notify the user that an update is necessary?
We told our clients to go to adobe.com and download directly from there to make sure there is not a security risk. However, we know that many of them will probably click on the links in a pop-up window or e-mail.
Thanks for any insight of this.
We have an automatic update mechanism that would do this...
If you have access to the machines you can control it:

Cannot display profile pictures of friends and me, instead, Firefox displays only the names, fewer photos. I need to have the images released so that they can appear on my page. Kindly help. bold text
Is he missing pictures then make sure you are not block images from certain domains (sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net).
- Check the permissions for the domain in the active tab in "tools > Page Info > Permissions.
- Check that the images are enabled: Tools > Options > content: [X] loading images automatically
- Check exceptions in "tools > Options > content: Load Images > Exceptions.
- See the tab "tools > Page Info > media ' for blocked images (scroll all the images with the cursor key).
If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.
There are also extensions (Tools > Modules > Extensions) and security software (firewall, antivirus) that can block images.

Pop - ups of WebHelp and blocker of the end-user
Hi all, I searched the forums and help online, but can't find any info on this. I have the following questions regarding security and pop-up blocker my end user:
If the user has the blocker enabled, it blocks Webhelp pop ups?
If so, the blocker will block also see the button pop ups?
In addition, if the pop-up Blocker is enabled and it blocks pop-ups of Webhelp, having the user to add my Web site to the trusted list would allow pop-ups?
Can you think of any other "security question" of the end user I need to study that I see my help?
Thank you!
want2bewiserWelcome to the forum.
Blockers cannot block webhelp popups because they are user initiated when they click on a link. My understanding is that blockers are designed to prevent the unwanted popup windows.
I think that the other main issue is to ensure webhelp is the type of assistance, it will be run from a server rather than be installed on PC users.

As mentioned in my question that just started happening recently. I click on a link in the email or on a website and I have pop-ups. They leave looking like firefox popups - but they are not. Some are for games - others give a list of web sites to search for the object that I clicked on. It is extremely annoying! What should I do to stop this?
It seems that your computer may be infected by some kind of virus / Malware.
I suggest the following resources:
My Firefox problem a result of Malware is an article from the Mozilla Support with some good advice to avoid and fight against malware.
To verify that your system is clean, perform the following steps (no official Mozilla tips, just good practices of personal experience)
Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.Malwarebytes.org/
Download and launch TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363
Download, install and run Microsoft Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials (no not official approval, but I personally recommend MSE as a great permanent anti-virus)
Check all Windows updates.

I have the latest Firefox (18.0.2) on Mac 10.7.5. A few days ago I have updated with the latest Java (7_13) because we use software in my company that requires it.
Before the update, Firefox blocked two pop-up ads on the web site of my company (www.lawtechnologynews.com).
After the update, the pop - ups are is more blocked. I made sure that the blocker is always enabled and that our areas are not excluded.
Any ideas?
I realized that during my Java updates and Firefox, I somehow lost the Windows ad blocker extension. Reinstalled, and now it works fine.

We went just at RH10 (upgrade came with the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 4 upgrade). We have successfully converted four projects that had come from RH9 to RH10. I think my only problem is that all my popups that have been configured to open it in the topic as "display in the sizing Auto popup" are open as if they were under "default page" (see image map screen below):
We run IE9 and Windows 7 ops system browser. These pop-up windows worked well and is size so that we can click out of them and go back to the main topic before we converted the project. ANY IDEAS?
P.S. I tried already to remove the option of automatic resizing of popup display, then by saving the topic, then change back and nothing happened. I do not change my css or the master page that popups were assigned and that worked before the conversion.
Thank you!! I wonder if I'll have to redo any mapping of the image to each of the popups in order to get the autosizing popups to work. Please notify.
Post edited by: DNCopeland I discovered another employee who has already climbed to the RH10 could open the same project and see the pop-ups that open as automatically resized for her, not as a page by default the entire window because they are for me.
Sorry to barge here, but I wanted to pass along my experience with this bug.
I found this automatic resizing (or custom also) pop-ups in image maps have been works well in Rh9 and broken in Rh10 in the Topic Previewer (glasses icon) BUT NOT in the real WebHelp output.
Yes, DHCopeland, are statement that you see in the viewer section, or have tried to generate and display in actual production?
I always test if there is no improvement after installing 10.0.1 HR patch. So far, it seems that the patch does not address this bug. I'll try another machine.

The pop ups were not on the old system and seems attached to some site I open, opening multi-site. I might have to stop usingFfirefox, if this is not fixed.
Hello jgibbs99, you could get deceived by a malicious Web site by downloading a fake update - a true firefox update will contain never this kind of noise you describe! Furthermore updates are managed in-house by firefox if you are asked to download and run a .exe file to update to firefox, it will be false (you can manually check the updates in firefox by going to firefox > help > about firefox).
Please, try the following steps:
- Reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
- then go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or of potentially unwanted software there (sort the programs installed for their installation date to see what he got recently installed).
- Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

Today, I opened Firefox 36 and I saw that there are updated. I've updated to version 37.0.1. After the browser is restarted, I realized that it works very slowly and opens a pop-up advertising to this address:

It's really annoying. I didn't install add-ons that are unreliable and my Firefox always updates to Mozilla.
Help, please. I really need.
Thank you.Hello, sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:
- Microsoft safety scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more information, see this other AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one. Windows 8 already has integrated antivirus.
More information can be found in the article troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware .
In addition, delete the file User.js in your profile folder you have.
The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget it, if you do not create the file, and then remove the User.js file, to see if the problem goes away (some programs create and write to the file also).
Thank you

I have the Windows Vista operating system. Whenever I connect my computer, I get two pop ups on the taskbar. One is jucheck.exec and another is updates of Java.
I have no way to uncheck the premiera. I have only two options, restore or close. With java, I opened the properties and click to remove the check mark from updates, you click on apply and then clicked on ok, but he still continues to appear you have tips on how can stop these pop ups?
Hello
I would like to inform you that Jucheck.exe is the process that runs automatically when the Java Update tool is activated. Jucheck.exe usually checks the Internet for the software updates available and invite you to install them to keep your updated program. If you prefer to search and download the Java updates manually whenever you want, disable Java Update automatic tool disables and removes Jucheck.exe
It will be useful. For any other corresponding Windows help, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you.

I get so irritated by Firefox update notifications interrupting my work process and autmatic on MY computer. So although I consider it an invasion of my privacy and safety. If necessary I will set up a web site to mount a campaign against this disgraceful practice, which in reading some posts available that I can see are also a source of concern for other users.
Even in the best of cases where I could tolerate the choices of a response to "Ask later" which does not carteblanche Firefox ask me in 5 minutes.
It's particularly irritating for me because I have my computer configured to perform automatic operations that then get sabotaged by these notification settings appearing frequently. I really don't want to have to change the browser because I don't know if others are better.
I need a clear answer personal Mozilla thse on how I can kill these settings using my computer within 24 hours or I reserve the right to implement a campaign site to highlight this unacceptable behavior on the part of mozilla.I also recommend Mozilla only IF they are interested in getting community support to streamline their web site so that users can more easily find how to become members able to ask questions, but uncomfortable for Mozillla.
Very sincerely
