  I have tried turning Windows Firewall on my Vista laptop and an alert pops up saying, "Due to a problem not identified, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings." Also in the Firewall menu, it says "Windows Firewall does not use recommended settings to help protect your computer". I clicked Update settings now that led to the alert "firewall Windows was unable to make the requested updates." I went to Windows Update and tried to turn on automatically find and install the updates did not work (don't remember what was now the error message). I downloaded a Microsoft Fixit Troubleshooter to try to fix the problem. Well, the problem appeared to be fixed, but when I went to install the updates that he found, all updates could not be installed. The error code was 80246008.   I am so at a loss to know what to do now. Recently, I did a complete with Malwarebytes and Avast scan and a scan of boot with the latter. Malwarebytes didn't find anything, and I found and quarantined a bunch of virus with Avast. I have not noticed other symptoms (that I recognized, in any case). I hope there is a way to solve this problem without having to reinstall the entire operating system or anything. They gave me this computer, so I don't have the installation CD.

  Follow these instructions to fix the Windows Firewall:
  Download and install repair Windows:

  When the repair of Windows opens, click start repair , click Start. Unselect all the boxes except for the following:
  -Reset the registry permissions
  -WMI repair
  -Repair Windows Firewall
  Then click on start. Once it is finished, restart your computer. Let me know if this helps you.

• No option to save the file, type of content/file missing in the list of Applications

  I want to be able to click on a link to a file and have the option to open the file with a specified application.

  When you click on the file I want to open with a specified application, I get a save or cancel the option.
  When I look in Preferences > Applications, the file type is missing from the list.

  What types of files you want to download?
  Have you checked how servers send the files?

  You can rename (or delete) the file mimeTypes.rdf in the profile folder of Firefox to reset all the actions file.

  The entries you see in the list of services are service installed to work with the Internet Services of Norton. They are not in the program.

  Have you tried looking in Autoruns?

  To identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).

  With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.

  Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

  Hi, thank you for responding. I could solve my problem simply by uninstalling and reinstalling the webroot program. After you reinstall and reboot, windows security center see and recognize the antivirus, firewall and antispyware components

  If you do not see your content grouped as expected on your iPhone after the import and syncing your iPhone, may not be grouped properly in iTunes. The article link below details how to to fix this in iTunes. Once fixed in iTunes, check your settings for synchronization and re - sync your iPhone to affect changes to your device.

  If everything is shown well more then everything should be OK.

• Security Center does not recognize the Windows Security Essentials

  Windows Security Essentials does not seem to register with Security Center.  Security Center reports that no Virus protection is enabled.

  1. I installed Windows XP 32 - bit WGA, activated the product and updated to SP3.

  2 security Center starts giving Windows security alerts for Virus protection, because none has been installed.

  3. I installed McAffee VirusScan.

  Windows Security Essentials installation did not prevent Windows security alerts.  No Windows Security Essentials registry entry will appear in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Security Center and monitoring.  If Microsoft consider essential security to be an antivirus product, then how to Windows Security Essentials register with Security Center?

  I understand that this is an information and alert issue only.  I understand that Windows Security Essentials works actually ok.  I am particularly concerned by the reports.  It conditions my deployment of Windows Home Server.  Deactivation of surveillance or the alert is not a solution, just a poor quality work around.

  Are you logged on as administrator? See the links I posted above that tell you how to fix that.

  BTW do not have more than one antivirus on the system at once, even if not used as they
  always will interfere with each other. Be sure to use the removal of the machine tools and/or special
  instructions or a lot let problem causing remains.

  The way I see it, not providing the function of key in W7 WMC guide is motivation upgrading to W10, assuming that WMC is available.

  Hopefully Microsoft will give us the fix for WMC in W7.
