Security Essentials does not prevent FakeAlert Trojan - HELP

Microsoft Security Essentials has received FakeAlert Trojan in and not found. I have been informed by BT Security to run McAfee stinger which found the Trojan horse is unable to remove it. All ideas, because I'm going to change password on my email whenever I try to open a session and that the Trojan is changing all my security question answers must come back to BT help each around one hour or more on the phone at least time to.

Hi aresee,

Please see article with a link to malwarebytes who claims to be able to eliminate this infection: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=5033.

If this does not resolve the problem, here is a more aggressive approach to PA bear MS MVP compliments:

1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN. EXE before running it.

2 Vista or Win7 => this scanner instead: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm

3. now post the logs required in a forum appropriate for support by an expert in the field. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!

I can recommend the assistance of experts available in these forums: http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?board=10.0 ,

and

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

See if this will fix the problem... (no guarantee)

After you have configured the security to explore 9 beta essintials program says that somethings not allowing this procedure which would cause this im running windows 7 home premiumEmail removed privacy

    My personal opinion...
Any Beta program is expected to have bugs. That is why the label "beta".
If you are a computer user accomplished and ready to test a beta program, continue to do.
If you are just a normal daily computer user, you can stick to IE8 at the moment until the SP is set to release 'officially' the product to the general public.

For your information only, you can uninstall IE9. The system automatically returns itself back to IE8.
To uninstall IE9: go to programs and features > left column, install the update > scroll to find Windows Internet Explrer 9 > right click > uninstall.
Realizing that you use Win7. The above procedure should work for Win7 machine.

  • Security Center does not recognize the Windows Security Essentials

Windows Security Essentials does not seem to register with Security Center.  Security Center reports that no Virus protection is enabled.

    1. I installed Windows XP 32 - bit WGA, activated the product and updated to SP3.

2 security Center starts giving Windows security alerts for Virus protection, because none has been installed.

    3. I installed McAffee VirusScan.

4 security Center stopped giving Windows security alerts for Virus protection.

    5. I uninstalled McAffee VirusScan.

6 security Center has resumed giving Windows security alerts for protection against the viruses as before.

    7. I installed Windows Windows Security Essentials and rebooted.

    8. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Windows Security Essentials with no joy.

Windows Security Essentials installation did not prevent Windows security alerts.  No Windows Security Essentials registry entry will appear in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Security Center and monitoring.  If Microsoft consider essential security to be an antivirus product, then how to Windows Security Essentials register with Security Center?

I understand that this is an information and alert issue only.  I understand that Windows Security Essentials works actually ok.  I am particularly concerned by the reports.  It conditions my deployment of Windows Home Server.  Deactivation of surveillance or the alert is not a solution, just a poor quality work around.

In a previous thread, the author of this question even abandoned and has not requested additional assistance.  An explanation was given (relevant for Windows 7), but no solution has been offered.  Windows XP has not been addressed.   http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-security/the-Security-Center-has-not-recorded-an-anti-virus/15ae2383-7ced-4850-A863-f7eb8cc90ee5

I had the same problem for a while now (I'm on xp) and have searched the Internet for a solution but found nothing at the moment.

  • I can't tp perform actions on email or some Web sites because the pointer does not change from a helping hand on all orders at the top of a page - any more down works fine

In Hotmail, for example, I can open any message in the Inbox except the top one, but then I am unable to answer or to take further action because the symbol of the pointer does not change from a helping hand and clicking on has no effect.

If I try to open the top message from the page by clicking on the command "Open" is gray.

If I open the type of web page that has a number of menu items at the top of the page, I can't open anything either for the same reason - something more to the bottom of a page is fine. The type of Web site with menus on the sides can be used for all items except the top menu!

Make sure you write down the description and model double click top - tab drivers - write version. Now
