Security information requested, how will I know if it is safe to disclose?

Today I received an email allegedly from Windows Live, saying someone had tried several times to enter my account with incorrect password.   He asked me several pieces of personal information.  (date of birth, password, when the account was opened, the contact number etc.).  They also say that my account would be blocked if this information has not been received within 24 hours.  How will I know that it is safe to use or disclose this information?  I don't want to risk my blocked account nor do I want to distribute personal data.  Help, please.

  • How will I know if a site is secure for transactions by credit card? I don't see any symbol lock.

I have Windows 7. My old version of windows has always shown a lock when a Web site has been encrypted and secure. I don't see that now. How will I know that it is safe to give personal information such as credit card numbers, on a web page?

Padlock is therefore more part of Firefox; It has been removed from Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection, but does not provide any additional information. You could make a typographical error, and have always been connected to a secure connection. The lock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site identity button. Familiarize yourself with the Site identity button at the left end of the address bar:

You can install this module if you want:

How will I know if a connection site is secure? In Safari or Explorer there is a locking visual icon in the web browser window, but not in Firefox. Is there an add-on that meets this need?

The padlock shows only that there is a secure connection and does not guarantee that you are connected to the right server. So you could always be connected to the wrong server if you make a typing mistake in the URL and someone said that mistyped the URL. The lock feature has been replaced by the identity button of the Site on the left end of the address bar (address).

  • My computer has been infected recently with Sirefef (AB and W variants). How will I know if I do a backup/clean install of the operating system or not?

As says the question: my computer has been infected recently with Sirefef (AB and W variants).  How will I know if I do a backup/clean install of the operating system or not?

I'm running a full system scan in ESM right now, and it has detected multiple instances of sirefef.   I have remove as they pop up, but I'm afraid that when I run another scan they all will always be there.  Is there a way to know if MSE is actually remove them and he cleaning?  If not, should I do a back up and reinstall the OS?

Thank you.  I can choose to try this, however, I would like an answer to my other questions first.

Sirefef is a rootkit and yes he can hide in your system.  This is why it has been suggested that you may need to reformat/reinstall.  In fact, it's the only way to eliminate malware.  Multiple scans with several scanners and no conclusion malware probably indicate he disappeared, but the key word is "probably".  Malwarebytes is good and what he finds now may be traces of the infection, but what he finds perhaps not active more - it is always good to run the scans so.

What spare drive did you run?  What scanners did you use?  See again you and follow the guide "Malwaretips"?

Uninstall/reinstall of MSE is how?  All the problems?  Have you tested MSE with eicar to be sure it's working?

Assume that you have not had an opportunity to review the MSE Installation Checklist or you would have noted that MSE and Windows Defender cannot be used on the same computer.  So if WD works in fact it means MSE has been disabled/not not work correctly or not installed.

  • How will I know where all the reports of users has access

    Hi gurus,

We use the Hyperion Financial Reporting 9.3.1 & we have 80 reports & 750 users. How will I know where all the reports of users has access. Where can I find this information. I checked the SSP, it only shows the provisioing details, but not the name of the report. I also checked the Essbase.sec but no use. Where can I get the info. Kindly help me.

    Kind regards
    Kris...

There is no tool of Hyperion to display easily groups and security filters.

But it really depends on how you set up your security model.

Normally, you add users into groups and assign these groups to essbase and reports (via the BEEP groups) cubes, so you can check reports have access to correct group and the users are in a good group.

There is a security tool to export available here, hosted by Applied Olap, and underground work Olap-based:
