seem to be two versions of Firefox on my computer and I keep asking for help Firefox whenever I use Firefox

I have two versions of Firefox on my computer, and whenever I use Firefox, I continue to be asked to help Firefox in answering a question about the product.

Not sure I understand you. You want 2 versions of firefox running on your computer? Or it happened accidentally?

I uninstall firefox, make sure that both versions have disappeared and then install again. You will not lose your settings because the profile folder is not removed by default.

My new Firefox 8 is fine. But I use the Blackboard LMS online, which has not yet been upgraded for Firefox. I was told that Blackboard works very well with firefox 3.6. Therefore, I want to know if I can get two versions of firefox on my Windows 7 laptop. Or can I only have one version at a time.

  • I have two versions of firefox at the same time?

    Hello

Probably a stupid question but I have two versions of Firefox on my system at the same time?

The reason is add-ons that are not compatible with v4. I wish I could close v4 when I need to use an Add On v3.

    Thank you.

You can install both, but there are a few steps to take.

When you install Firefox 4, use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.

In order to use both versions, you must create a new profile for Firefox 4 (Firefox stores the user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile, you can copy some data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep synchronized profiles. Finally, you will need to implement shortcuts to launch the right profile for each version.

I had to use a vista boot disk to fix another problem with him and it worked but left me with two versions of vista on my computer. Now, I want to remove the redundant version.

    Hi Shanks23,

To change startup options in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows, use BCDEdit (BCDEdit.exe), a tool included in these versions of Windows. You may not use Bootcfg or NvrBoot to change boot options on Windows Vista and later versions of Windows, even if you can continue to use them to modify the options to start on earlier versions of Windows.

To use BCDEdit, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the computer.

Edit the start menu in Windows Vista and later versions

In Windows Vista and later versions of Windows, new boot loader entries are not added to the boot menu automatically. You can place the boot loader entries in any order.

You can use the displayorder option to set the order in which Boot Manager displays the boot entries in a multiboot menu. The command has the following syntax:

    bcdedit displayorder {ID} {identifier}...

The ID is the GUID of the boot entry or a reserved identifier, {Current}). Separate each ID with a space. Remember to include the curly braces ({}).

For example, to add boot DebugEntry entry to the start menu after the {current} entry, use the following command:

    bcdedit displayorder {current} {49916baf-0e08-11db-9af4-000bdbd316a0}

You can also use the options /addlast and/addfirst/Remove to order and to remove items from the menu. For example, the following command adds the start-up input DebugEntry as the last item in the menu:

    bcdedit displayorder {49916baf-0e08-11db-9af4-000bdbd316a0} /addlast

To verify that the display order is correct, use the following command:

    bcdedit

When you type bcdedit without additional parameters, BCDEdit displays the entry of Boot Manager and boot loader entries in the order in which they appear in the menu.

  • I get a Firefox error message that says, "something tries to trick Firefox by accepting a security update. Please contact your network provider and ask for help. »

I get a Firefox error message that says, "something tries to trick Firefox by accepting a security update. Please contact your network provider and ask for help. "Do you know what is happening here - what could be the problem? (I have the latest version of Firefox already installed. I previously got Firefox error messages indicating "Firefox update failed". However, I already have the latest version of Firefox installed when I got these error messages.)

I think that we must hope that the problem will be resolved at the present time. If you see the error message again post in this thread. Also, it would be unusual get this message while trying not to update, but if you get if you try to copy and paste the details of console error that they can be useful.

    Use

    • keyboard Ctrl + Shif + J
    • or button-> Web Developer Firefox-> Console errors

This kind of message is apparently the only normally expected when you try to update to Firefox. It seems strange that you get the message using a 'Œuvres' document, but others have reported this message seemingly random incidents.
(So normally, you must clear the error console, and then try to update knowing the error messages have been the result of this attempt to update)

If I had this problem my concern would be that some kind of malware may be involved, but the message can then indicate that all this malicious program is upset.

The warning came after connecting to the internet.
Something tries to trick firefox by accepting a nonsecure update. Please contact your network provider to ask for help.

This problem may be caused by the presence of remains files in the program folder Firefox (defaults\pref) as a file firefox.js which replaces the URL of update with a wrong link.

Do a clean reinstall and do not forget to remove the Firefox program folder to delete files that are the problem.

  • Can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop?

    Original title: windows 8.

Last year, I bought a new desktop computer Acer with windows 8 and installed my windows professional 8.1 on it!

My question is! can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop because it was purchased with this PC AND how I to get it back?

I am braking the rules by doing this? the original key was included with the purchase of my new Acer and I should be able to pick it up and install it on another device?

If I can't, I'll have to buy a new one to upgrade my old windows laptop 7. I'm trying to save money! That's why I ask this question.

    Roger

No, you cannot transfer the original license that is pre-installed on your Acer, it relates to it because it is an OEM license.

The OEM of Windows 8 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

    What is OEM software? :

  • How can I install two versions of firefox that run independently of each other?

I want to use an installation of firefox as a normal browser who remembers all the tabs I opened and a facility other than for viewing html files. I would like this second installation do not open all tabs from my previous session, do not load all plugins and the history of my main installation of firefox, but as the html file I want to open.

    Thank you

File associations are subject to operation of Windows and its "limits.

IMO, you need to have the profile that you want associated with the default profile HTML files. I'd do it by editing the profiles.ini file to change the default profile that is labeled as default = 1, , but someone else might have a method 'smooth'.
But then all you want to open in the default browser opens in Firefox with this 'profile HTML '. When you use Firefox as default browser in Windows, it will only use the profile marked in the profiles.ini file by default when the default browser is called to open.
If it seems absurd, don't blame me - I beat my head against the wall for nearly 10 years on this default browser / 'thing' default profile, every time I screw up a profile when the default browser opens the wrong profile, after, I was ' dicking with "several profiles. Of course, I brought that on myself by having too many versions of Firefox are installed and having too many profiles.

If it were me, I would use the 2nd, lightened profile and get used to using file > open file... and drilling through the file system of the Explorer to find the file I want to open and open the open a file dialog box.

If I close Firefox and open, it ask password when I send. Months ago, I changed my password to connect to Netzero.com (which made more secure). Since then, I had this annoying password request. Open the Password Manager. There is a search bar on top of the

What's the correct information? Note: maybe more then one entry there.

After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the folder of the program "Mozilla Firefox", located by default in one of the following locations:

    • (Windows 32-bit) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    • (On 64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
    1. Go to the Windows Start menu and click on 'computer '.
    2. In the Explorer window that opens, double-click on disk Local (c) to open the C:\ drive.
    3. Find the folder "Program Files (x 86)" or "Program Files".
      • On 32-bit Windows, double-click the Program Files folder to open it.
      • On 64-bit Windows, you'll see a folder "Program Files (x 86)" AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the Program Files (x 86) folder.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:

    1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
