Serial port, the ethernet and ethernet default management

Hi all

I try to install properly the DC200. I am trying to connect in the port of serial console, but with some problems...

Please, see the image as an attachment:

(1) that is the difference between the 6 and 7 ports? Both are management interfaces...

(2) and then, which is the right way to set up the initial steps? The Cisco Guide is not very clear to me... Firstly I can connect to the serial port or before that I need to plug to VGA with a monitor and keyboard to redirect the output to the serial port?

Does this mean that I need to run sudo /usr/local/sf/bin/configure_console.sh series , then sudo reboot to work correctly the console port series?

(3) then, of which interface I can take the managed devices?

Thanks in advance
Kind regards

Lor

If you try to console in, just a monitor to the VGA connector, a USB keyboard will suffice.

  • Tecra A8: external keyboard connected to the serial port: the necessary specific configurations?

    Hello
I want to share a monitor and an external keyboard with Tecra A8 and a desktop computer. To do this, I bought a switch 2-port Linksys where I plugged the external monitor and a keyboard. With the monitor without problem because there is a specific port for this. However my Tecra has only 3 USB ports and a serial port 6-pin where I connected (with a 6-pin Mini DIN adapter) on the keyboard. When I turn on the screen it's ok, but the keyboard (I also tried a mouse) does not work. Do I need a specific configuration on the serial port to accept the external keyboard? If so, what commands do I need on the XP operating system?

  • analyze serial port hex data and graph time real conspiracy

    Hello guys,.

am a newbie to labview and am currently working on my final project of the student, but I met a problem extracting the values of currents and voltage of hexadecimal string read to read the VISA stamp. I also want to throw the string header every time so that I can only process only the voltage and current hexadecimal string. My rope of the read data is attached. 0023-0034 0045 0132 AA55 AA55 AA55... Where AA55 is header I want to throw. The following 2 after the header bytes represent the tension, while the 2 bytes represent the current. After 6-byte header (AA55) appears again.

So far, I read the data read as attached VI visa, and I would be recognizing all assistance to extract successfully, only the voltage and current values every time the (AA55) header is read to raw data. I have read several forums observation about the covers this topic but none seem still a click. Thank you once more!

The VI am working on is attached and some failures in the print screens.

A framing error means that something is wrong with your string of bits 1 and 0 s, coming from your equipment.  The start and stop bits are not where they are supposed to be.  Check all your configuration settings set to ensure that they match the device.  Baud rate (230 400 seems quite high), stop bits, data bits, parity.  Something is probably wrong in there.  That or if you have bad cables or electrical noise interfere with transmission.

Why is it you are emptying the receive buffer?  Which is almost never necessary and could actually cause you to lose data or start the synchronization of your data once you've established.

I don't know what you're trying to do in this while loop inside.  That looks nothing like what I was describing.

See the attached VI.  I have not fully tested (after all, I do not have material sending me data).  But it should give you the idea.

  • DVD ROM disappeared from the computer and VISTA Device Manager

    Hello

I know there are a lot of discussions on the same topic, but I read everything and still my problem persists.

I'm pretty sure that the problem occurred after installing iTunes. The DVD ROM is no longer accessible on my laptop. The light flashes and the attempts to start a disk, but then nothing.

I was in the high register looking for filters and bass to remove (such as published in the number of threads). I found only UpperFilters which I deleted but still nothing. I also tried Microsoft FixIt but does not have the ROM either.

What to do next? Can anyone help? He began to depress me now.

Well, I have solved my problem. After trying everything I read and was advised to try.

I simply unplugged the laptop and handed. Then, I reviewed the reader noticing only so slightly, I could see the silver housing of the reader. So I applied a bit of pressure, pushing the player to the laptop so that I could see is no longer the silver case.

I have not for a minute think that might be the problem. Once the laptop is started, Windows immediately installed the driver and open computer it was. DVD ROM restored.

Not sure if this may help someone of you guys, but if I post my "fix" :-)

  • Change Windows 7 default serial port settings

I need help how do I change the way Windows 7 control a default serial port COM1.  I use a serial cable very easy to control the special with external hardware.  The serial cable only use the RTS and DTR, GND pin of the cable and does not require special hardware drivers.  I used the camera on several versions of Windows 95 to XP without any problem at all with serial ports.  With Windows 95 - XP serial COM1 port's RTS and DTR lines defined 'stop' by default.  I just upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7 and now have a problem with the serial port.

For my problem, I need to have the serial port to be 'stop' default until load control software and specifically opens the serial port to turn on the external device.  Using a serial port data Tester (a lot of green and Red led) I see that as soon as Windows 7 starts, it automatically sets the lines DTR, RTS and TD to serial port as "HOT" (high voltage).  This is not acceptable because it activates the external hardware until the control software is loaded!  Similarly when the control software is closed and the serial port is released in Windows 7, the serial port DB, RTS and TD lines are again defined as "HOT" (high voltage) by Windows.

    Dave,

I can't believe that you have not answered this question.  I had the same problem as you trying to control my radio interface.  I just came by for a Dell Optiplex over the weekend and noticed the same problem.  I was searching the Web for an answer when I found this post.  I am happy to say that I found the solution to my Optiplex and how it works for you.  I went into the BIOS and set the UART protection on.  Makes no sense to me because I'm a software guy, only an amateur on the hardware side.  I left the BIOS and the serial port works as it should like in XP.

  • setting the parameters of serial port VISA does not persist

When I set the baud rate using the VISA's Interactive Control Panel for a serial port specific (ASRL) and then close the window for ASRL, baud rate goes back to the default value.  Why doesn't baud rate?

Also when I change the port settings for a particular serial port (COM) on the side of Windows, why can't I see these same port settings when I look at them from the interactive panel of VISA?

Also, when I set by programming the output baud rate for a particular ASRL (code C), why is it reset by default when I re - run my program and do a get on baud rate?

    Some information:

My C program works on an industrial PC which has a PXI MXI connected to it expansion chassis.  Series 3 cards in the expansion chassis.

When you close the VISA session and/or close your application, port settings in the system default values.  It is a very normal behavior.  As long as you keep your open VISA session, the port will behave how you already told (set Baud Rate, etc.).

  • How to periodically send various types of data via the Serial Port?

    Hello! Everyone

I have to send data to LabVIEW to my device on the Serial Port.

I know how to send data on serial port in LABVIEW, I already have this part.

Now the problem is that I have several types of data I need to question my embedded device, if I want to send the query periodically command.

So lets say that my four Op Codes are the following, which will send four different types of query command to my device on the serial port.

(To be honest only OP_LED and OP_SENSOR is used now)

    0, OP_SYNC

    1, OP_LED

    2, OP_SENSOR

    3, OP_FUTURE

Structure of basic package is as follows:

Header (0x2C), Checksum, length of the data (n bytes), Op_Code (1 byte), length (length of Code + data Op)

For OP_LED, I need to send the package as follows:

0x2c 0x02 0x01 0 x 00 0x2F (0x2F being the XOR checksum) (calculation of Checksum part is done and SUB Vi form)

Length of the package this is 0x02

0x01 is Op Code for OP_LED

    In the same way

For OP_SENSORi need to send the package as follows:

0x2c 0x03 0x02 0x00 0 x 00 0x2D (0x2D being the XOR checksum) (calculation of Checksum part is done and SUB Vi form)

0x03 is length of packet here

0x02 is Op Code for OP_SENSOR

So, how can I do this periodically in labview, in such sort that period can be adjusted whenever necessary.

Is there something in LabVIEW to do.

I had done the reception and decoding part and working properly.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/store-data-coming-from-serial-port-in-buffer-and-then-take/m-p/32722...

So I must implement read and write the part of same while loop?

Do not insert in the table if you put data in an array at index 0.  Just use array to build.

No need to have Visa to write don't be a part of wire to the wire of reference and error VISA go in the upper part.  These wires should go THROUGH the entry VISA.

Don't your checksum requires all the bytes up through data?  Righ now, you only put the checksum on data bytes and forget the opcode and length bytes.

Your sending is not the opcode for Opsync or Opfuture.  You just send the empty tables.  At the same time for the other two, you put the opcode in the data table.  All your original opcode in the table build thread.  Get the data out of these structures in case item which is supposed to represent the opcode.

    xpress_embedo wrote:

Now it works but I have now two problems.

    (1) OP_SYNC and OP_FUTURE do not data, but still receive its data on serial port, can I do something here as I have nothing when the table is empty in the structure of the case.

I do not understand this statement.  Perhaps my answer above will fix any issue you have here.

    (2) how can selection operation Code to be send is done using control façade but real application, this task should be automated to a certain frequency, like OP_LED package must go out to the serial port to 100msec and packet OP_SENSOR must go out to 1000msec, I do this.

Now you agree a little more architecture.  I would encapsulate the code that is in the while loop as a Subvi.  Then with the hand of your program while loop, use two time Express VI, a game for 100 msec, the other for 1000 msec.  When an express VI is true, run the Subvi with a command set waiting for the answer.  When the other VI Express is true, have it run the Subvi with the other set of commands.

The device responds with anything when you send these commands?  You only send data.  I see no VISA Read to be able to recover all the data.

  • Visa read write on port series independently and at the same time!

    Hi all!

I need to read and write data to and from a serial port (rs232) independently and simultaneously .

I'm sorry that I can not put a picture of that, but it's very simple:

I used "set up the serial port" and forwarded to two while loops, the resource reference.

a loop is reading data and the other loop is writing data to the port.

the problem is when the playback loop (function serial reading) waiting for data - it blocks the other loop to run (writing of the serial function is blocked).

I searched the forum and find this visa open function has 'duplicate session' option - that's what I need?

If true, can someone explain exactly how to wire and use it in the right direction?

    Thank you very much.

    Guy.

OK, I found an example that solved my problem: a VI called   serialduplicatesessions.

    The file is associated.

  • Beginner: how to manage the pipes and the semicolon with UNIX commands?

    Good afternoon
I'm writing a Java class that allows to run UNIX commands.
Launch of the simple commands (to date, ps - ef) works fine, but when I start using of pipes and the semicolon, it won't:
    Java (e.g. hoses) code:
            String command = "ps -ef | grep config";
            Process child = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
    Result:
    usage: ps [ -aAdeflcjLPy ] [ -o format ] [ -t termlist ]
            [ -u userlist ] [ -U userlist ] [ -G grouplist ]
            [ -p proclist ] [ -g pgrplist ] [ -s sidlist ]
'format' is one or more of:
user ruser group rgroup uid ruid gid rgid pid ppid pgid sid taskid
pri opri pcpu pmem vsz rss osz nice class time etime stime
f s c lwp nlwp psr tty addr wchan fname comm args projid project
    Code Java (example of semicolon):
            String command = "date;ps -ef";
            Process child = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
    Result:
    date;ps: not found
Clearly the pipes and semicolons are managed by the UNIX shell and can be put in the Java source code as such.
Does anyone know a way around this?
    Thank you
    Dominique

Pipes and semicolons are interpreted by a shell (bash, csh, etc.) and when we execute as you do without shell is involved. It is easy to solve by using the alternative version of exec() which takes an array as an argument and use your shell of choice. For example: -.

    String[] command = {"bash", "-c", "date;ps -ef"};

Note that the third argument is the entire order to be interpreted.

Two points to consider. First you need to read, Digest and apply all the recommendations in http://www.javaworld.com/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html; otherwise will be at some point lead to a significant loss of hair. Secondly, you should probably use ProcessBuilder rather than Runtime.exec (). Behind the scenes, Runtime.exec () uses ProcessBuilder but ProcessBuilder provides a better interface with more features.

  • Lack of Z - 400 serial port

    Hello

    I have a number of product Z-400 SG637UC #ABA

Just updated to the latest version of the BIOS, was 1.17, I think.

Manual maintenance and each user's guide I can find a reference to the serial port header (15-pin) construction which

    My motherboard has.

However, I can't understand how to turn it on.  The security settings of the Bios do not list the serial port, and the Advanced Settings tab lists only the floppy drive and not the serial port.

Are the parties other than the header not installed on the motherboard on this particular product number?

Do not connect the pins of the rider 2 header and tell the BIOS the material is there?

PIN 12 of the 15-pin header is labeled 'detect the com' on page 168 of the Z-400 maintenance manual.  I do not think it is a standard pins for communications series name.  Is it being stretched up or down to activate the port?

I don't particularly want to spend money for the "2nd serial" material, when the first serial port is not working.

    Thanks for any help.

    PM

    AP_M,

The Z400 has a 2 x 8 serial port header, you have found.  To access the serial port, one needs the HP, the PA716A Option kit serial port adapter.  This kit, described here, has a small PCB attached to a PCI card and cable to the PCB of the card mother Z400.  This PCB contains the RS232 serial port transceiver integrated circuit, so it is necessary to make the serial port work - a straight through cable from the motherboard to a will of connector serial port not working, to not try.

Option kit that pa716a can be ordered as an option Z420.  The kit is not listed for the Z400, but the Z400 (and many other HP computers) use the same kit.

    To answer your technical questions:

-IIRC, Windows requires masking devices that are not accessible.  That's why the serial port does not appear in the device without this option installed kit Manager.

-12 axis, as you can imagine, is a "detect the com' which tells the system that the serial port kit is installed.  He is shot down (the Earth) when the cable attached to the motherboard.

-If you want to experiment and see if the serial port becomes active, turn off the Z400, then put a jumper between the P52 12 serial port connector pin and ground.  Soil is on pins 8 and 7.  (The pins are numbered with strange pins on one side (row) and evens on the other kind of pin 2 pin 1 opposite.)  To determine which line is even or odd, pin 16 is the last pin and the missing key on the 'same' line).

Then turn on the system.  After the Earth axis 12, the serial port should appear in the BIOS settings and certainly in the windows.

    * I think this is how it works, I have tried for a long time. **

    Does that answer your questions?
