• Satellite P200-1IE: battery goes down even if connected power outlet

  Hope someone can give me some good advice here as an urgent decision to make about my P200-2 - week old 1IE, under Vista Home Premium, I bought the Portugal where I live. I was told that I have 15 days to return the machine to the store if I am not satisfied, then I must act quickly.

  Background info: I have not yet downloaded SP1 updates or drivers or bios on the Toshiba site. That once the machine has been run on battery (accidentally when the power was off) - he ran down, beep and a time that I realized and turned on the power, is it charged normally. The machine works very well, and then last night a strange problem occurred.

  The machine was left unattended and ends by closes. When it has been restarted the battery alert was a sound signal. My husband na? A´t realize that it was, and close again the machine. When I got to watch it I noticed that even though the power light was there was no light to the battery, or orange or blue, nothing.

  -unplugged and re plugged the power supply at the end of the machine and then no lights came, not even the power sector led.
  -is turned off and turned back on the power at the end of the plug and the sector and battery (orange) lights came on.
  -battery charge indicator is out after 10 minutes.
  -unplugged and reconnected the power to the machine again and this time the sector and battery lights came on - even once, they came out after about 10 minutes.
  -power the computer on. The power icon showed about 25% power. Not powered down the new machine - no lights at all.
  -entretienavec and re-connected turns on power to the machine again and this time and battery charging sector came and stayed on.
  -After about 2 hours, the battery light showed charged (turns blue) and so I unplugged the power socket and left for this morning.

  As I suspected, this morning the battery power was 100%. Everything seems normal (except the battery light is released briefly on starting the machine, which is maybe normal and I just never paid attention to the front). I unplugged the power supply and let it run on the battery for about 10 minutes (this is plan is Equilibrado which I believe is balanced). I then reconnected power and loaded back up to 100% as you can imagine.

  Sorry for the long description, but even if all is well, now strange problems yesterday let me feel that there is a potentially serious problem within the machine. Has anyone encountered anything like this before and what do you think I should please?

I ask because I see where there could be Add-ons, but I can't find.

  Apple has taken a serious decision by turning his back to iPhoto and tens of millions of loyal users.

• Satellite P10 infrared device question

  I'm trying to connect a mobile phone via an infrared connection and use it as a modem GPRS under Windows XP Home SP2 on a Satellite P10 874. When the phone is in range, the laptop detects via the infrared port and I can upload files to the phone.

  In order to use it as a modem, I need to install a modem with the phone driver. But there is no infrared COM serial port in the list of ports (like the P10 has no serial port COM, there are not), so I can't create a new modem.

  Is it possible somehow to create a standart (for Windows) com port via the infrared port of the P10 (I think it's the way work the drivers of some infrared USB cards - create a virtual com port) so that I can create a modem for the mobile phone.

  I sometimes use my mobile phone as a modem, but I use it via Bluetooth. In my opinion, is that infrared is good for data transfer but is not fast enough for the Internet (speed limit of 4 Mbps) connection. Data transfer rate is too low and the connection can be interrupted. As far as I know that it is not possible to choose any COM port in your case.

  For small data transfer with the mobile phone's infrared adequate, but for the internet connection where you transfer speed to build a page it will be not enough quickly.

  My suggestion to you: pick up some information about Bluetooth technology and it will be ideal for you. I use my Bluetooth phone and it works perfectly. Setup was very easy.

• The MBP 13 "with an SSD upgrade

  I want to upgrade my Macbook Pro 13 "(fin 2011)." I want to remove the optical drive and replace it with the SSD. The problem is that my hard drive is almost 400 GB occupied out of 500 GB. The budget SSD will be the 250 GB. How should I proceed in this case, I want the OS can be completely copied into the SSD and the rest of the things in the hard drive. Have I not clone entire hard drive SSD or copy only the operating system work? Applications work if they are in the hard drive and operating system is in SSD.

  Usually in the facilities of double disc such as you plan, the DSS should have the OSX installed on it and find where the current HARD drive.  The HARD drive is then placed in the location of the DVD player.  But the final choice is always yours.

  Back up your data on an external HARD drive.

  Because the SSD will not have the capacity to hold all of your data, I recommend that you format the SSD drive, install the OSX and install it in the MBP.

  Then you have some decisions to make.  What data do you want on the SSD and what data to remain on the HARD disk in the location of DVD?  From inside connectivity is much faster than USB (unless you have a connection available Thunderbolt), I would setup the backup disk in the DVD drive and data location 'drag & drop' for the SSD.

  Depending on the capacity/performance of the HARD drive and HARD drive backup, you can keep them where they are or trade.  If keep you them where they are, clear the outboard/back up in the car and the two internal drives to backup.  If change you disks, clone the drive that now is outboard to the internal HARD drive (it has all of your data and the top OSX) and then erase the drive HARD outside and safeguarding the two internal drives for it.

  Life would be simpler if you can afford a 500 GB SSD.

  Hi all

  I've been thinking that a new office for some time now and just finally pulled the trigger on the HPE Phoenix h9t with i7 2600 processor.  I enjoyed to see and read other posts on this new system, as it has been very informative (it is not just a bunch of good info out there still on the Phoenix).  I have a really nice HP laptop already, so I'm not completely new to this company, but I've never owned an HP desktop computer before, especially one that it costs a lot.  It has been a difficult decision to make and I almost bought a Dell/Alienware with a similar setup, but I feel good about what I've ordered here.  I just don't have the time to build my own, and there was just something about this platform that has attracted my attention and peaked my interest.

  Also, I noticed many of you comment on the heatsink of heat/cooling.  I went with the liquid cooler myself, if for no other reason that I read the stock Intel CPU cooler was not so great and my office is warm during the summer - and I didn't want the system overheating.  Can someone tell me how the liquid cooling is done for them?  I heard a review mentions that the liquid autonomous units are carried out by Asetek, a company with a lot of experience, which makes them.

  What about anyone who has overall experience with the Phoenix bench so far here, comments or opinions?  I would be very happy of them while I look more forward to my system to arrive.   Thank you.

  No problem in adding a video card. Won't be a problem for you either. Before that you ordered one you get. HP was offering a GTX 580 1.5 you could buy. But they aren't now. Probably since the GTX 680 comes out and they who will soon offer. Temp. Wise with the cpu. I saw that he hit 72 c while playing BF3. My room is usually still a bit warm. Yet. It's good with, use safe operating and not even close to the limit. Not sure why you would want to install a different PSU. It is a k + 1 computer. It should work fine. I just no luck with mine. • Satellite M45-S165 new battery does not charge from 25%

  It is of a Satellite M45-S165 running Windows XP SP2.

  I just put in a new battery of Technuity sold at Circuit City. Followed the instructions and let it charge for 10 hours before you use it. The laptop turned off while charging.

  On the laptop Toshiba Power Saver says that the battery has been charged only 25%. He just won't let it load more than that.

  I close GST since the the Task Manager and open the gauge on the control panel Windows. After you run just the battery for a while I tried to recharge it. But the windows power meter is showing that the battery is charging, but who is stuck at 3%.

  The battery is new, so no idea on what it prevents to load completely?

  All valid questions and points you present!  iCloud is not designed as a platform for storage on traditional cloud for backups.  If you are looking at that, and I highly recommend do you, after some preliminary research, then you should consider these options for third party such as Dropbox, Flickr and my personal favorite Google Photos.

  iCloud is designed so that all your pictures/videos are synchronized and accessible on all your devices.

  Before you do anything, remember that you have a set of HP recovery disks in case you would have to withdraw.  Back up your data on an external support. An external USB hard drive would be my choice.

  Run these two utilities. .    Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.   Test for 64-bit hardware  Look at the results of the analysis of 64-bit with Upgrade Advisor.

  Update your memory on VISTA.  Then, run this utility to make sure that the memory is good.  Download memtest86 iso file and burn it to disk using the Imgburn.

  If you upgrade the memory beyond 4 GB, then you need Windows 7 64 bit to take advantage of the extra memory. None of the HP added value will be offered under Windows 7 64-bit you will need to do a clean install.

  Now, do a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit. Apply all updates including service pack 1.  You may need to restart and run the update of Windows process several times to get everything updated.

  Now, install all the programs you need and updates for them.

  Look over the size of the C partition to perhaps determine the size of the SSD to buy it. I would consider an SSD that is greater than the space used on the C 20 GB partition, but it's your decision to make on the amount of free space to store for updates and future expansion.  Depending on your needs, a 60-80 GB SSD may be enough.

  Looking for an SSD that meets your needs of space and comes with a migration kit (software plus one sata cable USB). If you have an empty hard drive Bay so your will need a 2.5 "to 3.5" disk media adapters and sata data cable. If you do not have a Bay hard drive empty then use an empty optical Bay. In this case, you will need a 2.5 "to 5.25" Bay adapter brackets and a sata data cable.

  Open your PC and inspect cables power the hard drive Bay. Do you see a spare power connector?  If you do not have a hard drive Bay empty then use and empty optical drive Bay.  Looking for a replacement power adapter. If a sata power connector is not available but a molex adapter 4 pin is then you will need to purchase a power adapter to manage the molex connector to a sata power connector.

  Before mounting the SSD inside your PC, use the migration kit and the process to the image of your hard drive Windows 7 overall of the SSD. You need only to images in the mbr record, SYSTEM and C partitions.  If this process is successful then mount the SSD inside your PC and connect the power and sata data cables.  Start now and make sure that Windows recognizes the new sata SSD. If it's good then boot into the bios and change the boot order to reflect the SSD as the first device to boot from the hard drive and save the settings.

  If your PC starts now with the SSD then smile. You must disable defragmentation for the C partition because it is not necessary.  Your original hard drive is still intact, so you can use it to store the data a possibly an emergency boot disk if something goes wrong with the SSD or Windows 7 on SSD.

  • Microsoft seems to be ready to everyone they can grow to 10 Windows. With a cycle of publication of two years for the CVI, my fear is that Win 10 ICB support can come in Q3 2017. (Note that Windows 8 found were from Sept 2011 and RTM was August 1, 2012. CVI necessary accompaniment, the next version: CVI 2013 was released in August 2013. Where my 'next release' forecast of 2017.)
  
  
  • Distribution packages are passed from 5 to 12 25-75 MB in the last several releases. The minimum size for 2013 CVI is a deal breaker for us - I get complaints about 25 MB.

  I don't want to be too negative - ICB done great things for us, but these two complex (and difficult to master!) questions are really two points pain I want to see progress.

  Regarding your question Windows 10, we conducted tests with versions of Windows 10 and we do not expect our products to work with this operating system. However, we cannot claim official support until our products have been tested with the official version of Windows 10.

  The KB is not entirely explain why we have chosen to make this decision but makes us think of this feature a good amount and in the end we had to make compromises. The key points we considered where:

  • It is much more difficult to scale the installation programs using merge modules, as compared to the msi files
  
  
  • MSI files using allows NO place easier fixes to customers
  
  
  • It's easier to implement additional deployment capabilities on top of MSI than the merge modules

  Not precisely.  I say that the Windows Firewall is perfectly adequate, and I don't know any others that provide better protection (but others may have more options of configuration or bells and whistles, some will offer essentially equivalent protection, and some are not as good as Windows Firewall).  Of course, some will say that there are some firewalls that are better than the Windows Firewall, but is no longer a subject of debate and discussion than anything I saw firmly and convincingly demonstrated.  And we know that the Windows Firewall works properly with Windows and other Microsoft products and has great support.  And I never heard of software conflicting with the Windows Firewall, I heard things regarding 3rd party brands - involving mainly browsers, e-mail programs and security as well as configurations of network programs (not just internet, but internal intranet, you can have in your home using cables (, wireless routers/modems, infrared devices, bluetooth, remote deskop (internal or external) devices if used parental controls, interfaces with the security at home and/or surveillance systems wireless devices such as printers or scanners or fax machines and other similar things).

  Remember, without a firewall your computer give to anyone trying to access the system through any network or remote connection via the ports.  There are several ports, most average users never need.  The firewall blocks essentially all ports except those that are specifically excluded.  That's where you come in.  Each has a default list of excluded ports.  You must go through this list and remove all exclusions that you know you don't need (and be sure you KNOW what you have blocked before deleting the exclusion).  Each exclusion represent a hole in your security that an attacker could have access.  The less the better.  When I came through the list, I probably cut just a little less than 50% of registrants - but I cut some I used but rarely I would have rather the firewall blocks and make the extra effort to unblock port temporarily the few times that I need to leave open at all times.  Although for Vista, this article will help you understand the basic concepts of http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Firewall-frequently-asked-questions.   Attention to the last on the list because it provides links to other articles where you can get better and more information that can help you to choose and decide.

  I'm not going to argue here, since you have already the product and more.  This isn't what I would have chosen, but it is probably one of the best on the market suites and much, much better than some other choice, you could have done.  According to me, that it will probably do the job.  Quite simply, I don't know how good it is the Firewall works because I've never used this before then.  It may in fact be just as good and offer more features, or may not provide the same level of protection or cause any problems or conflicts with other programs or with your network (depending on how you setup).  I do not know.  You bought the suite because you wanted more features than just anti-virus protection.

  I think you can guess what I personally would do, but I can't advise you on what to do here - it's your software, your computer and your decision to make.  Don't forget that you can always disable the firewall in KIS and activate Windows Firewall (or the reverse), once you choose.  This comment in my post was directed at all the recipients and I didn't change it to you specifically - I mean not that it appear as more accurately you invites to spend now that you have already bought another product.  I was trying to say to people in general, he was no need to spend money on a separate firewall when the Windows Firewall has been excellent and would do the job perfectly well.  However, Windows Defender does NOT provide adequate and afflicted an antivirus program protection must be added (that may or may not turn off defender during the installation) to be sure.

  I would try with Internet Explorer (and upgrade to IE9 in the process either as current as possible) rather than I have no problem whatsoever on Facebook, but it's your decision to make.

  In fact, your question is on Chrome and must aim instead of their support group as they know more about their products that we do here.   For general help, start here: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/?hl=en.  As they seem to be contact live support except through their forums, try: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/request.py?contact_type=contact_policy to join the forums and post your questions there.

  You can also try researching the issue with the help of Facebook: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/request.py?contact_type=contact_policy, but I think you will have more success with Chrome (like Facebook seems even more difficult to get a real support, but it's worth a try if Chrome does not help or waiting for a response from Chrome).  And Yes, to do this, you may need to use IE instead of Chrome to at least get in touch with Facebook (unless the issue is only limited access to your account and you can access their support pages).
