  Good afternoon

  I'm having some trouble from a virtual computer inside my 2012 R2 VM server. I search around the internet for a while find several articles and forums on how to configure nested visualization including the official document on these forums but I still have a problem.

  My configuration:

  Physical server running - ESXI 5.5 1623387

  Physical machine - dell R720 (2 x e5-2690 - supports the VT - X and the EPT and it is enabled in the BIOS, esxcfg confirms with '3')

  New VM - Server R2 2012, VM version 9 installation (created by the web console vmx-09)

  I added / tried every configuration option I found:

  -J' created the virtual machine console web and checked "expose hardware virtualization assisted for the guest OS.

  -I made that vhv.enable = "TRUE" in the vmx configuration

  -J' tried to add hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = 'FALSE' to the vmx configuration

  -J' tried to add vhv.allow and more vhv.enable in the/etc/vmware/config, but neither makes a difference (discovered he was not necessary later thanks to a post on this forum)

  -J' tried to set the name of guestOS to "winhyperv" in the .vmx file

  -J' tried the type parameter of "ESXi 5.x" guestOS in the thick client

  -J' set the cpu/mmu virtualiztion tick at the last

  -J' tried to set the registry values level 1 as seen here ecx

  -J' have ensured that monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".

  -J' uninstalled the hyper-v role and reinstalled after you make these changes without result

  -J' tried an another 5.5 ESXi 1331820 host with these settings and it does not work (VT - X confirmed as well)

  -J' tried 2016 instead of 2012 R2 server and it does not work

  I think it's all the things I tried. I'm sure I've probably missed something very obvious, but any help would be appreciated.

  This specific virtual machine has not generated a vmware.log file but still one of my virtual machines to test (with the same exact questions on the second physical host) has generated a couple and I enclose you one of them, and more can be provided if necessary.

  It seems that the latest Hyper-V does not like hardware virtual version 10.  However, it seems not be satisfied with version 11 of virtual equipment.

• spool server says error signature does not work, can't restart, can't reload printers, missing icon

  Personal computer running Windows XP with two printers, HP Laser jet 1020 and Lexmark X 2250 works very well yesterday. Today, print jobs are back with the error signature telling me that my spool server does not work.  I went and tried to restart my spooler, no go.  Icons for missing print/fax printers program and I can not reinstall the printers.  Same message arrives, spool server does not.  How can I fix it.  I ran the difficulty it program, produced works and still nothing.  Help please!

  It comes down at the end of the previous instructoins, so it of nothing to do but to remove and reinstall the printer, then follow these instructions to do this:

  We will try to uninstall then reinstall the printer in a specific way:

  1. remove the printer from the PC.

  2 uninstall the printer from the PC driver.

  3 reinstall the printer driver with the latest version of the Brother's Web site.

  4 reinstall the printer.

• Vmware server Web Access 2 does not work

  Dear vmware community:

  First of all thank you for taking the time to read this.

  I have a problem that looks like this isn't the first time that this happens, Yes, I was still unable to find an adequate solution.

  We have vmware server 2 is installed on a Debian 5 machine. Until yesterday, it was working fine.

  Today, when I tried to access to via web browser as usual, the page not load (the browser would say 'done, but the name of the page says "Loading").

  We have one of the virtual machines that are configured to start automatically, and it does not work as expected. The other I can't handle because I can't have the vmrun run perhaps (related?). So far, the only things that doesn't seem to work is web access only.

  There is one thing to note: after a restart of the computer, or restart the vmware mgmt, the service called "VMware Virtual Infrastructure Web Access" would show anything (while other services say "done" at the end of each line).

  I saw other people with similar problems here, and generally the solution was to reinstall the vmware server all on this machine. I would avoid this of course.

  Did someone already experienced this? Where I can look for more information on the VMware VI Web Access service won't start not (I do not know where are stored the logs of this service, maybe that can help).

  Please let me know if I should add any information, such as newspapers, etc.

• Vmware Server 2 has expired, comments not working

  Hi people,

  I tested vmware these past two months to install it in the future to our customer base servers. I installed Vmware Server 2 in a Debian 4.0 to run Debian 4.0 guests, and my experience is good even a few crash problem cpu 2 (but this is another war...). I love the web administration and options are nice and soft.

  But, today, I have a problem and I feel scared to think what might happen if the server has been installed on client servers: I removed a snapshot and after he hung my VM 20 minutes I stop the server. Now, when I run the virtual machine, I get an expired product error (but I have vmware server 2-0?, see photo to fix on the foot message). I get an expired error if I create a new virtual machine too. At first, I suspected that the problem is a file locking or some accident of VM file, but I'm not sure, after I created the new virtual machine that does not work.

  Date and time are running OK, and I don't remember to change these last months. What should I do? I have losted information in my VM? These are the files in my server:

  How many logins and passwords you have Setup.
  If try to password protect a directory, you do not need to use DW server behaviors. Connect to your host control panel and see if you have an option to password protect a directory. If you do not, contact your host and ask them.

  3. has changed the port 3389... nothing happened.

  4. check for any firewall issue... Order the Windows Firewall... Still nothing...

  Checked port 3389 with telnet... its not going is not to...

• New download of vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 does not work?

  I have a client with a small two servers ESX environment into a cluster HA (5.1.0, 799733).  Recently, the 5.1 device they used for management began to have problems and rather than try to solve this problem the plan was to download the new device of 5.5 and just migrate to this.

  A few months ago, I downloaded the device (5.5.0.5100 - 1312297) and deployed.  The deployment takes place without incident, and he fired an IP address from the DHCP server.  However attempts to connect to this device via the web client or the vSphere client failed.  I could connect to the console and it showed started lighttpd but I couldn't always connect.  Play with it, I finally got the web connection works however SSL wouldn't connect to the machine.  After a lot of hacking on I disabled the SSL requirement and could not enter the web management, but by this point I had broken a number of things and was not confident in this system.

  Other questions came, and it has put on hold for a while.  Now, I try again.  I downloaded and deployed a clean machine (5.5.0.5101 - 1398493).  I have deployed it no problem and he pulled a DHCP address, but even when I can't connect to the web server on port 5480.  A glance at the lighttpd configuration file says it's the right port.  Before you start to play and probably break things again once someone has ideas what I might be missing that a device out-of-the-box does not load?

  If the hosts file, I think you are incorrectly implemented. In all environments, that I use, only one line will be used by IP address. If the first line (localhost) is probably ignored.

  Also, in general, it is preferable to leave localhost 127.0.0.1 as a bunch of other things tend to assume that the resolution.

  I'm having the same problem. It seems the guys from windows to generate a cert that it must be exportable, which offers also private key file. I tried the following without success document.   I also tried to have the ACS to generate a certificate self-signed, that works. But on the client, you must uncheck the box validate the server certificate because GBA is not a trusted certificate servers. • How to fix VMware View Server certificate revocation check connection error?

  Dear community,

  For about 2 weeks, I feel a revocation of the certificate check error in our environment Horizon see 6.2. The strange thing is that, within 12 hours about two (replication) connection servers and the vCenter Server / server of composer (on the same machine) are considered as having invalid certificates, even if, in fact, they are valid (CA certificates). We use no security servers.

  The view admin console shows the following for servers connection:

  The server certificate is not approved.

  The server certificate cannot be verified.

  For the vCenter, he said (that I have validated manually the certificate):

  No problems found.

  Certificate is not approved, but the thumbprint of the certificate is accepted.

  With the connection series on 'full', States that the login server logs for the vCenter server:

  At the moment I am under the environment with composer and vCenter certificates manually valid and invalid connection (red) server certificates (as view clients and browsers are not disabled).

  I already checked that I am able to do everything 'green' again via setting the registry key 'CertificateRevocationCheckType'2 (as described here Configure the server certificates certificate revocation check). This brings me to the conclusion that one of the intermediate certificates cannot be validated. So, I had the information a "version" of an intermediate (intermediate certification authority) certificate has been revoked. There seems to be no coincidence - like the time point is as well, but this particular version does not appear to be used in the servers of my connection.

  However, even with full logging enabled, I can't information which (intermediate) certificate cannot be validated and why. I expected to see something like 'OCSP verification' or 'check the CRL' but I can't find it in the newspapers. However, I noticed that one of the intermediate certificates lacked the OCSP URL (even if the field "Authority Information Access" existed). Of course I updated the certificate with a version that contains the OCSP URL, but it has not changed anything.

  In addition, I checked manually all of the certificates in the chain with openssl (for OCSP) and CRLs as well, but everything seems to be OK (all URLS are accessible and no opportunity of certificate has been revoked). Actually, I do not interpret the error as "that the connection to the server is an invalid certificate because it has been revoked", but "it cannot check if it has been revoked. The servers do not need a proxy and nothing configured, so (I checked the proxy settings system context, also).

  For now, the problem is not critical, such as 'red' status connection server has no effect on our customers and so I could turn off certificate revocation check (or switch to check that the certificate of the server (2)). But of course, I would really solve the problem.

  Is there someone who can give me a hint on what to check, for example, how do I know which certificate cannot be controlled and why? Someone had the same or a similar problem? Support VMware is working on the problem as well, but they seem don't know is not the problem, either.

  Dear community,

  During this time, I was able to correct the error described at the beginning of this thread. Jump to the end to see what could probably help you...

  1. At first, I installed an additional standalone VMware View Server connection in order to check the following related certificates:
     1. VMware support always told me to renew my certificates because they "were not valid" etc. - even if in fact they were (like external URL calls and attested manual verification and tests).
     2. That's why I created new additional certificates for the login server and configured to include the vCenter even as my production environment - only difference was I didn't inlcude the composer who runs the server vCenter himself.
     3. The result was that the server was "green" including both the vCenter Server certificate which could be 'not reliable' by the environment of production - strange, huh?
  2. After I reset the additional server to a turned wink where connection to the server was not yet installed (before that, I uninstalled the connection to the server in case there is information in vCenter thereon) and reinstalled as a replica of the production environment server. Somehow I expected this, but still quite strange the vCenter Server (and composer) now again was considered "invalid", even if the certificate of the server connection itself considered still valid and green. For test purposes, so I put certifice revocation checking on '2' (only one server certificate check) - but only on the 'old' production servers' and 'magical' everything has been considered valid. So as I see it, there seems to be some sort of information stored on the 'old' connection servers that makes them believe that invalid certificates and that the information is replicated on the third server unless I lower the revocation of the certificate controls on these servers. Altervative explanation could be that VMware View does not accept certificates with aliases that do not include the 'real' server name - that is / was in fact certificates the old servers connection. The new server certificate connection included the real name and the alias. I understand if this is the case, but then I expect that it be documented somewhere (I have not found this information) and also wouldn't understand why it worked without problem for several years before.
  3. After finding that out, I created new certificates for the 'old' connection servers, including aliases and real names and replaced the certificate on one of the servers (and restarted the login server) - only a few successfully. Once I put the revocation checking on '4' again on this server, the login server certificate was still considered valid, but not the vCenter and certificate of composer.
  4. Now, I've uninstalled the old login server (removed from the view) and reinstalled completely (including an update of the 2008 R2 2012 R2 OS) and after I have it reintegrated into the environment, everything remained green - as long I have will activate revocation checking on the second login server "old." This is why I did the same with this (completely reinstalled and reinstated it) and now everything is green with the revocation checking enabled on all replicas of server connection.
  5. The next step I uninstall the additional replica because I created only for troubleshooting purposes.

  So what will no doubt help in similar cases:

  • Reinstall the servers of connection one by one, including:
  • Uninstalling html access (if used), uninstall the login server to view, uninstall 'VMware' AD LDS Instance.
  • Removal of the connection to the server of replication group: run "s - r s uninstalled_ vdmadmin.exeservername" on one of the servers connection remaining.
  • Reinstall/Update OS (may not be necessary, but I did not test that)
  • Reininstall, return to the login server replica. If you used the certificates which included only the alias of the server I recommend you to create new ones, including the name of the server as well, but maybe it's not necessary as well. If you want to keep the certificates which only inlcude the alias it will be necessary to install this certificate after the first replication of the servers (see below).

  My question for technicians of VMware/developers: It is supported to use certificates include only the server alias. Otherwise why it worked before and where is it documented? Where are certificate cached information so that simply replace the certificate was only some, and not a complete success (see above). FYI - when I paired initially replicas that I had to install the CA (including only the pseudonym) after the first replication - now with certificates (including the server name and the alias), I could install the certificate before you replicate (= the login server installation).

• Gzip encoding does not work

  For some reason, there are a few problems with the encoding of internet files which does not not specific files.

  some research more told me there is a problem with gzip encoding (I'm not sure that all deflate). Decompression doesn't seem to work.

  Looks like a problem of specific site. I use many sites like vagrantcloud and vagabond as sysadmin. It seems that the server (or CMS-system) does not work well with the application of pipeline. For this reason, the generated files (CSS or JS) are not completely generated when the HTML is sent through. This could be the reason why I had the problem that with the CSS which was not able to load (JS is almost never generated by a server)

  @jscher2000 I think the sign of mixed content is also resolved by turning off the pipeline processing.

  I'm trying to set up serial on a RD650 running Server 2012 R2 Standard and receive this error during data collection:

  The API could not be invoked in the node. (IP address = 10.0.0.247, cause love ERROR = select * from Msvm_ComputerSystem:HRESULT = 0 x 80041010)

  I found some indications that EasyManage maybe not yet compatible with Server R2 2012 but am not sure. Is it an official solution for this?

• MS win Server R2 2012 and Hyper-V issue licenses

  My company has 60 employees (and 60 desktops / laptops) and currently have an old principle that server solution of Microsoft Basic with element a cloud as Office 365 for email only. We seek to reduce the estate of server to Server (2 CPU - Dell PowerEdge T610), it currently runs on two old but not sterilized systems running Windows Server 2003 R2 (Dell PowerEdge 2900) and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Dell PowerEdge T610).

  In the short term, we want to create a brand new installation of MS Windows Server R2 Standard edition 2012 who will manage our advertising (and DC) and support businesses main accounting IRIS software that requires a MS SQL DB. This cloud all must be configured to allow integration with MS Azure Site recovery to allow us to turn up in the azure of the VM disaster. In my view, this means that the configuration of the OS as a Hyper-V virtual machine instance.

  The new server Win 2012 R2 has not really be a VM as its only one instance that I need, but from what I can make out, I need to make a virtual of Hyper-V machine to join the recovery Site of France. I can't determine exactly what license I need to achieve however. Any help would be appreciated.
