Service Pack 3 does not completely load on Windows XP despite trying Mr. Fixit and clean boot.

Windows Update says that our computer requires Service Pack 3.  However, after about 70-80 MB or more very slow laborious effort he stops and tells me that download has failed.  The same thing happens when you try to load the update Garmin map that need Net Framework 4 - it's just too hard for her.  I tried mutual aid run Mr Fixit solutions [who proudly says he fixed three different things and installed Powershell for me] and also do a clean boot manually.  They have produced no benefit at all.  Any advice would be welcome.

First of all, make sure that you have enough free space on your hard drive: http://www.winhelp.us/index.php/windows/enhancing-windows-performance/free-up-disk-space-in-windows.html

Can download SP3 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24 and run it.

    Hello hedubang,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I suggest to try the safe mode and see if you can install it in safe mode or if there is a conflict.

Start the program in safe mode

    1. reboot your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu.

    2. when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

3 log on to Windows by using the administrator account or any account of a user with administrator privileges.

Note: In Safe Mode, your display system and the Bureau will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return the system to Normal mode, we can simply restart the computer.

To determine if the problem that occurs with the program is caused by another program that is running in the background, we recommend that you restart the computer in safe mode and then test the program. If the program runs correctly in safe mode, but does not properly run in normal mode, it probably is another program that is conflicting with the program in question.

To determine which program is causing a conflict with the program in question, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem.

For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

929135 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/) how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

service pack 3 does not due to kbdhid.sys in use, I was updating after a repair windows, service pack 2 is installed, but the service pack 3 will not get spent about 1/2 in point because it says the kbdhid.sys open or currently in use, and there is no way to remove or stop in sys.32 drivers as it says it is used and there seems to be no way of knowing What to use.

  • Recovery CD does not completely load.

I just replaced the hard drive and the recovery CD does not completely load. After having ejected the second CD, the file loading process stops at 12%. There is no error message and I welcomed as much as 5 hours for the load file to complete, but it remains at 12% after the first 30 minutes. HP Pavilion dv7-4165dx, Windows 7

Well - here I answer to my own problem in case someone else has the same problem.  The second disk files recovery finally finished loading after 20 hours of waiting!  I spoke to two different technicians to support HP on the phone and neither one of them told me that it could take a long time to load the files!  One of them had me arrested and again after about 40 minutes of waiting.  I found it totally by accident after having frustrated and leaving it just stay there all night. Amazing!  The rest of the restore procedure went well after that - I think.  I'm always load all other software, files and updates, 2 days later.  The hard drive on this dog only lasted a year.

They are only updated office or all updates?

For Office updates, usually to pick up the item at the: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

then manually download and install the same.

If all updates, perhaps consider the following general tips-

Option: File of Windows Update agent wups2.dll is incorrectly registered and the registry associated with the Wups2.dll file files are missing.

Method 1: Save the Windows Update files

    1. Click Start and type notepad in the box start the search.
    2. click on Notepad in the list programs.
    3. copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened Notepad window:
    REGSVR32 WUPS2. DLL/S
    REGSVR32 STINKS. DLL/S
    REGSVR32 WUAUENG. DLL/S
    REGSVR32 WUAPI. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 MSXML3. DLL/S
    4. in Notepad, on the file menu, click Save as.
    5. in the file type list, click all files.
    6. in the file name box, type register.bat.
    7. save the Register.bat file to your desktop.
8 right-click the Register.bat file, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or click on continue.
    9. try to reinstall updates.

Click Start, click run, click Browse, navigate to the file you saved and click Open.

Add the switch /wuforce at the end of the command run and then click OK. For example, the command run might look like this: "C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce

    Click run.

Follow the steps to complete the wizard.

    Important

To reinstall Windows Update Agent - download the relevant file from one of the links provided above and save it to a drive where Vista is not loaded because the file cannot be launched directly from the root directory of the system.

Click Start, run, type: "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce" (without the quotes) and press ENTER to install the Windows Update engine.

Note: There is a space between "D:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and "/ wuforce.

  • WRT54GS V7 Web UI does not completely load

I already talked to Linksys support and they had to do a hard reset to my router but it does not solve the problem. What is happening is that I'm constantly having to plug and unplug my router to access the Web user interface. I go to the default address 192.168.1.1 and my computer sees the router, but the page does not fully load and shows in the lower right corner, there is an error any (yellow triangle) and it is constantly "waiting for 192.168.1.1 of." Its a system XP with IE8, but I also tried Firefox. Now, if I have access to the router with my laptop, connected wireless, it loads but it takes forever to load up, minutes to load, but it will load.

If I unplug the router wait 30 seconds or so, plug again, the office gets access again. I don't know what to do at this point. I have another router that I could use, but it never seemed properly open ports and this one seems to do.

Otherwise, the router works fine. Internet connects, the network looks good... of ideas please?

Try to update the router to the latest firmware... This might help...

WinXP SP3 was released almost 2 years ago. Why are you only get to install now?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP3?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Windows XP 2002 service pack 2 does not have internet explorer 7 or 8.

Recently, I took out my old laptop. Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2. I was using internet just fine, then when I went to a Web page (don't remember now).

He said that my computer needed update to IE 7 to the support page. I tried to load this (update) over and over again with
no luck. Then I lost internet all together. He said it was impossible to load it and said to go to www.//go.microsoft/fwlink/?LinkID=106440. This address has not yet been loaded.
I did extensive research on the question/answer of windows page.
What can I do to make it work again? I still have a lot of memory etc left on the computer.
The biggest problem is that I have NO internet now on this old PC, to do something about it. I use my laptop more recent to ask
    This question.
Thank you for your help :)

  • Installation of Service Pack 1 does not not on Visa? Guard's fault. So frustrated.

Well, then I begin to learn more and more programs want upgrade you all the way to service pack 2. WELL, I HAVE EVEN 1 YET. Because it won't work on my computer! I've tried everything. I get the error Code: 800736B 3. I have Windows Visa family premium, it came WITH my computer and I had a few years back so I do not remember if a CD came even with it. Well, you're really between the proverbial rock and hard place here, my friend.

Norton 360 v5.x (AKA Norton 360 2012) will not install unless & until the Vista SP2 is installed - and you can't even get installed SP1 (because the free trial period of Norton had expired because you have never run the removal tools when appropriate or because of your misguided use of registry cleaners).

All that being said, your best bet now is to format the hard drive and then do a clean install of Vista. [Note: a repair installation will not fix this!]

See the poster in this thread and follow the instructions of (my) WHOLE (to-the-letter and in order! ) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional: http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/c44429fb-3f7c-4646-8529-5a97bb3cd0eb

If you need assistance with the clean install, please start your own, new topic in this forum & advice: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system

If the procedure is outside your technique "comfort zone" - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take a local, the good reputation of the computer and independent computer (that is, not "BigBoxStoreUSA" or Geek Squad) repair shop & let them do the work.

Note: The computer must NOT be connected to the internet or local area network (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

Wish I had better news for you.  Good luck!

I have windows vista and the computer starts up and goes to my homescreen but finish loading so I can't really do anything. I tried to restore but made sure he will not load even that much more. What should I try now?

    Hello

    1. you receive a specific error message?

    2. have you made any changes to the computer prior to this problem?

    Method 1:

You can try to start the computer in safe mode and check if the computer starts correctly.

You can see the following link.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

You can follow the steps mentioned in the link.

What to do if Windows does not start correctly

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-to-do-if-Windows-wont-start-correctly

Note: when you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Note: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.
