Service Pack 3 - issues after installation fails

Hello

Today, I tried to install the Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 3 (SP3) - and unfortunately, it doesn't work, it says that the process "failed." Now, after I restarted the PC and started the update of Windows, he said again there is an important update waiting to be installed, but it does not show it so that I can't try to do it again. He had a warning when loading the update for the first time, that there was not enough space on my PC, could this be the cause? But if that were the case, I've solved - but how do I now 'get' the important update?

    I installed Service Pack 3 on my Windows XP Home Edition and once the computer restarted I had a black and white screen saying that there is a power failure or something else and I could either start my computer in safe mode, normal, or the last known configuration.  Well, the only way that I even get to the login screen is choosing safe mode. The other choices keep simply by restarting the computer and I to return to the black and white screen.  What can I do?

    Hi hound3101,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

    a. you are able to install some other updates?
    b. do you receive error messages when you start Microsoft Office Outlook?

    If you have a problem only in the Office Update installation, then I suggest you to report your problem in the Office Discussion groups. If not, try download office update from the link below and install it in clean boot mode.

    Link to the Group Discussion Board: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

    To enter the mode of clean boot of your computer, follow these steps.
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after starting the computer, install the update.

    Hope this information is useful.
    Let me know if it worked.

    Thank you, and in what concerns:

Thanks for anyone who can help me. PS. Keep the answers in simple terms please.

    Hi BSRC$, in stock

    1. You have security software installed on the computer?
    2. You receive an error message when you restart the computer?

    Reinstalling Windows XP to the factory setting would not be the first option.

    It is possible that some third-party programs or the services installed on the computer interfere with the installation of service pack 3.

    I suggest that you try to uninstall service pack 3 from the computer by using the recovery console and subsequently ask the article below for what to do before installing the service pack 3on the computer.

  • Associated with "service pack is a complete installation.

    Hello

    In Metalink if patch mentioned this line in the Readme doc 'service pack is a complete installation' (for essbase client, server, Essbase, EAS and Aps)

    Can I go and install without installation and configuration of earlier version?

    I mean should I install new patch directly without an earlier version of the similar component of Hyperion to save my time.

    Version 9.3.1

    If it's a complete installation and there is no mention of having to install the previous version then you should be fine just to install this version.

    If someone please tell me the solution?

    Hi Berto5097,

    Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

    The following are possible causes of this problem:

    ·         A program on your computer interfered with the installation of the service pack.

    ·         There is an inconsistency in the store of Windows services. The store Windows maintenance is a required component to install service packs.

    Take a look at the article, follow the steps from there to solve this problem

  • Window XP service pack won't complete installation

    My computer did an automatic update during the night and got stuck there, so I turned it off, when I restarted I got was the initial start-up and Windows XP is still trying to load the program.  When I went to the F2 option, I did a defaul restore and the computer flashes a blue screen for about 2 seconds and then go back to the Windows loading screen. How can I fix?

    Closing manually a computer, though sometimes necessary, is never recommended. This is especially true when Windows updates are installed and/or configured after installation.

    Follow the instructions below. If you don't have a disk of Windows Xp download the Recovery Console Windows Xp from HERE.  Then, follow the instructions HERE to burn the iso file to the Recovery Console Windows Xp you just download (although the article deals with the Windows 7 repair disc, the burn process is identical).

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. If you are prompted to press any key to boot from a cd do;

    2. when the "Welcome" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console;

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the installation that you must Access from the Recovery Console.

    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER;

    5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k). Let the scan until the end. It may take some time to complete.

    Post back after you complete these steps.
