Service Pack 3, over current, or reformat and reinstall everything?
I usually reformat / reinstall everything on my bench office every 2 years. I did this last box. I see now that there only on XP Pro Service Pack 2. I have the SP 3 Micro drive. Is it better to install SP3 on top of current news, or do a reformat and clean install of everything? I have a lot of graphics Adobe software, no games, 2 scanners etc. Nothing too major. All the boxes get cluttered junk over two years, as we all know. Thanks for any advice. Rotab

It is not that it is bad to do. It's just very tedious and unnecessary.
Yes, true for most, but it can also be bad. See below.
In addition, a number of people have performed a clean installation
without the first backup of their data (so in this case, it is bad).
Yes, and also note that you have to install all the necessary
drivers for your system, you must recustomize Windows and all your
Apps to work the way you are comfortable with.
In addition to all these things being long and painful, you can
have trouble with some of them: you will find all your CDs application?
You will find all the necessary installation codes? Do you have any data
backups to restore? Do you remember yet all customizations and
tweaks can be installed to make everything work the way that you
as?
If you can't find something you need, or do not remember something from you
made, it can be very bad.

Original title: Windows Vista SP1 64 bit (KB936330) 1.5 MB update.
I just reformat my computer and am trying to do the update process. I use Microsoft Vista 64 bit and got most of the SP1 is installed. TI completed most of it restarted, full of a few other updates and is now stuck on 1 part of the update.
He keeps asking to install "Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for x 64-based Systems (KB936330) which is a 1.5 MB file.» I go through the process. He told me that I downloaded and installed successfully, and then when I hit the button to Windows Update, there is still wanting to be installed.
I'm sure that this issue has arisen before but most of what I saw refers to the two error codes or problems with the installation of SP1 together. Help, please!
I had the same problem, I must have downloaded and installed sp1 about 10 times and there is no way that he was only 1.9 MB.
I finished downloading it manually from the main site of Microsoft.http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=30Once you are done installing the update and Windows update tent always updated sp1, simply click on "check for updates" at the top left of the window, and who should confirm that sp1 has been updated and it should not try sp1 update more.It took about 1-2 hours in total, but it worked for me, hope this helped. -

I'm setting up a VMWare View deployment and I need to configure Performance Manager in Virtual Center Customization Tools. Use the deployment tools XP Service Pack 2 for my model pack 3 XP service or do I have to download SP 3 tools? Documentation on the internet points to SP 2 tools, but I can't find a definitive answer for XP SP 3 machines.
I don't think anything changed in Sysprep between XP SP2 and SP3 of XP. I use Sysprep in an XP SP2 CD deploy.cab file to customize my XP SP3 image with no problems. You should be able to use Sysprep tools on the CD for SP2 for your model.
