Service Windows Installer seems to be missing

I am running Vista SP2.  There are a few reliable programs, I tried to install, and I get this error message: "the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly. "When I go to , , there are NO Windows install existing Service whatsoever.  I tried "scannow" from the command prompt, but he said everything was cool, I have all the updates for Vista, I tried no record then the reinstatement of the command prompt.  I'll try the automated tool "click-click-fix' of Microsoft, but I could not install either because of the error.  Tried to install Windows Installer 4.5, but apparently those who are for users of SP1.    Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

This happened to me a few weeks ago so I made a new installation and discovered yesterday it happened again. (Windows Installer lacked once again!), here is the link to the page that this is resolved for me.

  • SP2 error: "the Service pack installation cannot continue.

    Hello

Hope someone can help with this.

When I try to install SP2 I get this message "the Service pack installation cannot continue - is missing one or more components of the system which requires service pack."

My computer is a Dell Studio 1737 laptop came with Vista Premium 64 bit OS. Received 3 months ago.

Last week, I got a blue screen while making a rescue disk (I know, it's ironic), computer was slow, so I tried to do the system restore. System Restore does not work (I installed SP2 in fact at the moment, no problem). Looked for the solution, only thing I could find was to re - install OS repair mode (upgrade).

Found some info on VLite (knew, it has not been accepted by MS). Did the repair installation with VLite, added updates and drivers, took only some of the great language files. Load and run fine, ran all updates to windows. When I tried to install SP2, I got the "Service pack installation cannot continue - one or more components of the system that requires the service pack are missing. Looking for solutions, concluded the MS 'this may be due to the installation of VLite"only resolution is to re - install with OEM disc.

If that's what I did, re-installed, (repair - upgrade), once again. Load and run fine, ran all updates to windows. When I tried to install SP2 I got the "Service pack installation cannot continue - is missing one or more components of the system which requires service pack"-NEW.

    I have:

    -tried several times

    -uninstalled VLite (of fat)

    -Disabled antivirus, Norton 360

    -Downloaded the standalone KB948465 - X 64

-guarantees for KB955430 and all updates were installed

    -Ran "reset windows update components.

    -Re-installed "Windows updater.

-We searched MS forum and Web site for help, can't find anything on the message of"missing components".

    -Ran "System tool" KB947821

My windows installer has stopped working. I tried several 'fixed' found on the net, but nothing is done and would be grateful if someone could guide me through the solution.   Windows XP, SP3.

In 'Services', 'Windows Installer' has been designated 'disabled '.   I changed this "manual".

    msiexec /unreg works ok.

I use a 2005 Dell Precision 670 with OS Microsoft XP Professional x 64 Edition Version 2003, Service Pack 2.

I tried to update my version of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop v9.3 to v9.2, but in the process of uninstalling v9.2 there error/corruption (although at the time, I don't remember getting the error messages).

Symptoms were: program icon not slot "start > programs" or less "C; "" / Program Files "C:/Program Files (x 86) or ' but the icon still appeared in the list of installed programs in"Add or remove programs ".

    Suggestions to be by ESRI:

-Re-registration of the service Windows Installer - Ran fine, but the error still there.

-File system - fine Ran but error checker always run here.

-Downloaded Windows Installer cleanup - NO error found.

-Downloaded CCleaner - NO error found.

    -Manually deleted the program, manually remove the following program files: C:\program files\arcgis; C:\Program Files\Fichiers files\esri. C:\Documents and setting\%user name%\application data\ESRI

-Manually remove ESRI records in the registry: I did it by start > run REGEDIT [press ENTER], then navigate hkey_local_mahine/software and sailed to hkey_current_user/software.

-Tried to repair the program from the installation disc, but it always seems to grind to a hault about 50-75% through the configuration of the repair procedure.

-Tried to uninstall the program with the vision more recent ArcGIS Desktop but I still get the ERROR 1721.

I was once in contact with the package vendor (ESRI) UK support team and they sent this problem at their headquarters in the States.

I'm really at a lost as to how this can be fixed, because this program is what I use for my career! Help, please!

This may be a day late and a dollar short, but there is a question we've seen recently with ArcGIS facilities.  There is a registry change to ArcGIS that limits the size of the regestry and NOTHING prevents installation once this limit is reached.

Do the following reg key change:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\RegistrySizeLimit

    Update the value ffffffff

    Restart the computer.

  • Windows Installer service is missing from my Vista 32 bit. How to re-install Windows Installer?

Windows Installer service is missing from my Vista 32 bit SP2. How can I re - install Windows Installer? None of the 27 sets of update and Installer Cleanup solutions worked, a last resort option could work but it will not install without the Windows Installer Service.

I tried each FixIt option, says the problem is solved, but isn't.
I tried install Windows Installer 4.5, but it came back as not relevant to my system (because there is no previous installer to update).
Tried a number of recommended patches, but they are all geared toward fixing the problems of Windows Update not a lack of Windows Installer.
MicrosoftFixit50202.msi seems to have corrected Windows Update on my laptop but it won't install on Vista pc because there is no Windows Installer.
I ran the installation disc the option 'fix' with the original, it finished but has not replaced Installer and nothing was fixed.

How can I put the installer of Windows on my computer?  If there are files on the original drive that can be put into drive C what are they?
Someone suggested to uninstall Service Pack 2, and then reinstall, but if I have no installer of Windows that may not work. Others said they reformatted to correct same question, but it did not work.

These previous solutions have not helped:
Could not locate the installer of Windows on Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
Difficulty the installer of windows vista sp2
    code641/MSI
Failed installation error msg error 80070641 Windows update

After a month of butting heads with the refusal of Microsoft to actually help except to sell us all a new copy of Vista or Win7 at the normal price I solved the problem myself.

    1. I made a list of all my software purchased, including required registration keys, etc. and site URL for those who I don't have a disk for.
    2. Deleted registry back up on my external hard disk, reloading apparently one makes the backed up registry problems breed more.
    3. Inserted my drive from Dell to factory since 2007 and restarted. Press a key to boot from the CD. Chose "reformat hard drive' first, then when prompted hit"Reinstall"(slightly different wording on your computer).
    4. After you have reinstalled the factory disc 32-bit Vista, I spent hours 7 next installation of SP1, SP2 and hundreds of updates. Note that several times Windows Update said some updates to date has failed, but finally everything installed correctly by repeating the sequence of installation/reboot to update. There have been a few files that reported to turn off computer completely, I've shown... clicked with indicator shutdown (stop), let it do its thing until it turned off the computer and then the computer restarted manually later. After a total of 8 hours and 14 minutes as my Vista has been fully loaded, updated the installer is still intact, everything works very well and did not cost a penny.

It has been 2 days since the reformatting/reinstall. I reinstalled all my additional software without problem. System Mechanic is back in service without any prejudice to my installation Service. Seems that something is involved with .NET Framework 4 triggered a defense mechanism that caused the installer should be deleted, solved the problem of the .NET Framework from Microsoft, but it can be installed by the installer being removed to protect our computers. The question was not just with Dell computers, it is Dell support is just as incompetent that Microsoft support batch so more Dell owners were here to complain.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI: my mobile Samsung with Win7, the correction was easier because my installation Service has not been removed:

    1. Uninstalled all the software using .net Framework 4 (only 2)
    2. Uninstalled all .net Framework 4 bodies found on my list of programs (Client Profile and Essentials)
    3. A ran my System Mechanic to remove debris aka too much clutter and correct registry problems
    4. Laptop rebooted then ran Windows Update. All the updates installed with 3 requiring the judgment to install. .NET framework reinstalled with updates.
    5. Reinstalled my 2 pieces of software that use .NET Framework.

It has been 4 days without any problem at all. So, in my case, it's .NET Framework 4 that created and continued the problem, even if the specific audit FixIt kept saying all .NET Frameworks have been installed correctly.

  • Impossible to install KB2656374 - codes missing Windows Installer Error 80070641

original title: lack of Windows Installer

All of a sudden, seems missing Windows Installer. Certainly not in my list of Services. Thus, the last Microsoft Update K2656374 don't settle with error code 80070641 and 641. A few other updates has not as well. This is the first time Microsoft updates failed. I can't install Windows Installer 4.5 (or any other version) because I get an error message that says that it is not for my system. I think it's because he's not here to update. And I can not install software updates with the .msi extension. Can someone tell me how to extract or install Windows Installer?

I use Vista Home Basic SP2 32 bit and have been for several years. It is the first occurrence of this problem. Using Kaspersky Internet security, and in both years.

I'll tell you what has worked for me. Once you have the file "msiserver.reg" on the desktop, right-click. Now, I didn't have an option "Merge" but I got the option 'open '. Then I opened the file using "regedit.exe". You can find it in C:\Windows I think.

I received a confirmation window that my registry would be changed. I said okay Then I got a confirmation that the change was made. I rebooted my computer and looked in "Services" of Windows Installer. And here!
I also discovered that System Mechanic is the culprit in deleting a file in Windows Installer. SO I've excluded from analysis of System Mechanic. So far, I'm good.
  • Windows Installer is suddenly missing and cannot be changed.

Without warning, the program seems to have disappeared and nothing seems to be done for re - install.
Try to install Windows Installer 4.5 results in a message that the update does not apply to my version of Windows.
    I found this page:
Trying to make #1 (a registry repair) on the results page of support at the address above in the same error message (Setup is missing).
#2 seems to be a temporary solution.
#3 leads to search in the menu 'Services', where it is not in the list.
#4 regarding uninstall programs seems to be a solution, application by application, not something that looks like it will solve the underlying problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I need to get into Excel, and this error prevents me to do.  Thanks in advance.
