set up the 8600 fax

Just bought a Officejet Pro 8600.  Problems to set up the fax.  Have an answering machine in another part of the House but Home Office machine.  Telephone cable provided is not long enough to reach the machine.  Have you tried another (older) cord - (are there differences between the telephone cords?).  Can I configure the fax even though we have an answering machine in another part of the House?  How do we set number of rings so the answering machine will always pick up (currently at 4 rings) and fax works as well?  Appreciate all the help - thanks in advance.

Sorry, but if you have an answering machine on the same line as the fax machine, they will need to be connected.

Your answering machine must be directly connected with the LINE 2 of the fax. Your phone line (outlet) will go straight into the LINE 1 of the fax.

Your phone will be connected to the answering machine. That's how your fax, answering machine, and phone all would work. If you have configured this way, you need to define your RINGS to ANSWER (fax - TWO RINGS THAN the answering machine). So if your answering machine is 4, make your fax (6).

It is important, on the telephone cord. You will need a 2-wire cord. You can determine this by looking at the end of the rope and count the wire.

Let me know if this so useful.

  • Set up the scan to E-mail for Officejet Pro 8600

I'm trying to set up the scan to E-mail for an Officejet Pro 8600. In SAP, I configured the mail server correctly (received confirmation by e-mail). In other posts I found that I need to put in place the profile of outgoing e-mail through the tab on the built-in Web server, but it is not option, nor is it a deposit Email section.

Also, when I use the HP (on Mac OS Lion) utility and click on the Scan to e-mail setting, I get the Scan start setting Email button. This brings me to the SAP, but the page does not load correctly: there is no instruction whatsoever.

Someone at - it no clues?

Ignore that - I realized that the 8600 Pro does not support this feature... only the 8600 ProPlus made.

  • More HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Fax answering incoming calls instead of answering machine

I set up the fax on my new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus & the fax at the end past all test report & yes I used the good cable for the phone (the one that came with the fax) However when someone calls, the fax picks up the call rather than the answering machine.

Can someone tell me how to fix this please?

If you get only fax from time to time, I suggest to turn off the auto answer on the 8600, and when you hear the fax tone, * #123 to tell the fax machine to pick up. In this way, you can leave your answering machine like that and do not miss faxes.

Hello I have a printer N911n/all-in-one Officejet Pro 8600 Premium, number of product CN577A, OS Win 8, 64 bit, Error Message: you cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact your network admin Director or the person who set up the printer. No changes were made to the system other than the s/w updates.

First of all, please explain what the EWS/Webscan tries to do. Is it possible for me to fix this error message and scan from Webscan somewhere on my computer? Thank you.

    Hello

You can scan through the Webscan interface once you activate it.

In the SAP, on the settings tab.

Under the administrator settings, check the box enable Webscan and press on apply to save the changes.

The Webscan feature should now active and accessible.

  • 8600 fax HP offiejet says no answer on don't send

HP Officejet Pro 8600 won't send a fax - reception fax # is operational and rings when I call on my phone, but the 8600 returns 'no response' which is not correct.

I tried to fax to many other fax number and the same problem, so I suspect that it is a problem with the 8600, not with the receiver fax #.

The 8600 is capable of receiving faxes, but will not send them.

    Advice?

    Hi Eagleville,

I understand that you have an Officejet 8600 who is able to receive but not able to send faxes. I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll certainly do my best to help!

I know that you can receive faxes, but I will still propose to follow through this document cannot send or receive faxes the steps should always be useful.

I suggest that allows you to remove any CLSIDS listed under location:

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. • HP Office Jet 8600 Fax (not fax)

Recently, I asked my web company to change my modem in order to include a telephone line so that I can use my fax on the HP Office Jet function and I have such a misery the fax to work. When I plug the cable from the printer (line 1/2) to the modem (phone line) and I run the fax test, it tells me that there is no dial tone.  Can anyone help!

It is because this isn't the preferred method for the transmission of faxes. You will probably need a digital filter on the line to improve your chances of send/receive. However, even with this it is not a guarantee for fax technology is designed for a telephone line analog, not who is associated with an internet service.

This is a documentation on the best ways to set up the fax machine: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/buu50333

I would certainly try the digital filter on the first line. And if that does not work, or the quality, I would say either using an analog fax line or a digital fax service (both cost about the same amount).

I hope this information is useful and have a great day!

  • M1217: Can I pass a HP 8600 fax contacts to a HP M1217?

Is there a way to pass my contact HP 8600 fax list to the phonebook on a M1217.  Manual user supported software lists program directories, but products HP are not listed.  I think there will be a way to move the contacts between the HP products.  Thank you.

If they are stored in a directory on the PC, then you should be able to leave them in the folder and they must convert from one printer to another. I would backup all files associated first of all, just to be sure.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610: Unclear Instructions online, using the phone fax configuration, how to print envelopes

Terminology used in the instructions I'm not familiar with.

    Hi @chazz85,

I'd be more than happy to help you with your configuration envelopes and printing of fax.

Are there specific terminology that you want me to explain?

Let's start with the implementation of the fax machine.

The best market-well because it is in this document to set up a new Fax.

For me to simplify this configuration for you, I would need to learn more about the installation of your home Tel/fax line.

    • Is he a dedicated phone line? Only used for faxing.
    • Or is it a shared phone line? Phone and Fax.
    • Is your analog phone provider (typical telephone lines) or digital? (Cable connection)

    If the row is shared;

    • You have the distinctive ring service? 2 numbers, same phone line that present different ringtone profiles to indicate the type of incoming call
    • You have an answering machine? An answering voice calls in the same phone number you use for fax calls.
    • You have voicemail? A subscription to voicemail service using the same phone number as the fax.

    The (Simplified) recommended configuration would be;

    1. Telephone jack in the wall (RJ11) connected to line 1 on the printer using the cable provided in the box with the printer

      Then, if any;

    2. Port 2 - EXT on the back of the printer connected to the answering machine (using a phone cable)
    3. Your phone will then connect on the answering machine (once again using any phone cable)

Once I have more information about your setup I can help you further.

    Now for printing the envelope.

    I recommend the user to the 8610 Guide to show you how to correctly load an envelope. I copied the steps here for you;

NOTE: If your printer has a second tray (tray 2), do not insert the envelopes for printing in this slot.

    1. remove the main input tray. Remove all existing paper from the tray.

    2. Insert the envelopes facing print down and charge according to the chart. Make sure that the stack of envelopes does not exceed the lower line of the marking in the status bar. For more information, see the diagram engraved in the status bar.

NOTE: Do not load envelopes while the printer prints.

    3. slide the paper width guides in the tray until they touch the edge of the stack of envelopes, then re-insert the tray.

    4. remove the output tray extension until the planned paper size is reached.

I need to know what program you are trying to print from. If it's Microsoft Word, I find this document print an envelope very useful.

If it's another program, you can try the manual suggests.

1 load the envelopes face to print down in the status bar.

    2. in the menu file in your software, click print.

    3. make sure that your printer is selected.

    4. click on the button that opens the Properties dialog box. Depending on your software application, this button can be called properties, Options, configure the printer, printer, printer or preferences.

    5. Select the appropriate options.

    • Under the layout tab, select Portrait orientation or landscape .
    • On the paper/quality tab, select the paper type appropriate media drop-down list in the area of selection of the status bar, and then select the appropriate, print quality in the quality settings area.
    • Click on the Advanced button in the paper/output box, select the size of paper in the paper size drop-down list.

    6. click OKand then click print or OK in the print dialog box.

Please let me know if these steps solved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 - FAX with ATT Ringmaster Service number

I have a phone line with two numbers, the number of the House and with a distinctive ring fax number.  Send/receive works fine and the machine goes to sleep as you wish.

When the house number rings, the machine out of sleep.  Is this supposed to be like this?  Whenever the phone rings of House, the machine out of sleep.

After 5 minutes it falls asleep, as it is supposed to.  I find it odd that she would detect a ring on the home phone number.

    Thank you.

PS - HP Support had me change the fax settings even though I don't think they understood what I was explaining to them.  After that I hung on to the top of the support, the machine responded as well the house number and the fax number.  I went back to the settings that I had done, but the machine still pop sleep whenever the House telephone number sounds.

Also, when I turn off the PC, the display on the printer stay on all night.

Someone at - it help with this (these) issues?

    Hi LeeSoFL,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

From what I understand, when you receive an incoming call, the 8600 fate of "sleep" mode and no matter if it's just a voice call or a fax. This is perfectly normal. As long as the 8600 is not attempt to return to the call voice then everything works without any problem. For the display remaining throughout the night, you may notice that it darkens. If you are worried about remaining on, try plugging the power cable directly to a wall outlet, if it isn't already. HP printers have built in surge protector and if you have connected it to a strip bar, the printer will not get all the power it needs to function properly and cela might be the reason why the screen stays on all night after the computer is turned off. Here is a document that explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Thanks for your time.
