Setting up Outlook email accounts

OK, first of all I am 55 and my computer is off to College.  I had a Blackberry Storm but just bought the Droid because I couldn't take more locked up.  I created the gmail account but I have 6 other e-mail accounts that I use at work that all come to my server in the office.  I could have that they be sent to my office and blackberry.  I want to do the same with the Droid.  I try to synchronize my outlook, contacts, the EYCS.  The best thing would be to have just a copy of my mail sent to my new gmail account?  Is there a better solution.  I receive PDFs etc so I bought the appbut 'documents to go', I don't know the size of the document on gmail.  I love this new phone!

Ted

It should be relatively simple.  You need to get the settings for each account: POP or IMAP, incoming and outgoing, the security information servers and ports.  You should be able to see all this in Our information on your Outlook program to work.  All of the accounts on the e-mail program on your droid.  I'm sure that you will just need a server outgoing, but all incoming for each account server.   I could start with one account and see how it goes. You can use the standard e-mail program or try K-9, who has a little more flexibility.  I like K - 9, but some have reported problems seting upward.  Good luck.

  • I tried several times to set up an email account with Thunderbird, but the next time I start the computer and start Thunderbird, no account is displayed.

I bought a new desktop PC with Win 8.1 and installed Firefox and Thunderbird.
Then, I tried to set up the e-mail account manually (in IMAP) following the instructions here: https://support-en.upc-cablecom.ch/app/answers/detail/a_id/22 , but can't set the mail server outgoing smtp correctly (I could receive mail but not send them). Subsequently, I deleted this account. Then, I started the automatic mail with UPC Cablecom under the http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/content/dam/www-upc-cablecom-ch/Support/executables/upc-cablecom-email-assistant.exe link tool and he did successfully set up the account, however, because a POP3 server account. As I was not happy with it, I deleted the server of incoming POP3 mail (and lost the e-mails received, of course...) and retried a manual installation. In doing so, I got an e-mail account IMAP incoming more two outgoing SMTP server (comparing them, I also understand the configuration error that I had done the first time). I then deleted the manual as SMTP server the automatically the installation server worked correctly.
In this context, accepting them and sending E-mail worked OK. However, the next time I started the computer, the e-mail account disappeared and Thunderbird was asked to set up a new account again. I have successfully set up manually once more, but the same problem resurfaced at the next startup, the e-mail account was gone...!

  • What is POP, POP3 and IMAP, when I set up my email account in the HP ePrint App?

I did as much research as I can do regarding the implementation of the HP ePrint App e-mail accounts.  If you do not see your e-mail information listed here, feel free to post below or contact your internet service company provider, by phone or e-mail, or to anyone else who might know this. I am sure there are many others that could be added, but this is a pretty comprehensive list.  I hope you find what you need to complete the setup of your e-mail applications.

I noticed information differs from site to site, but as I've learned over time, masking the area and companies buying other companies, I just studied all the information that I could find and also if one of the names of hosts or ports does not work, then you can continue see below on this page to see if this information is the same. At that point, if you do not find what you need here, I would say that you have done all you can do before contacting appropriate for your information by email support team.

Most of the links is active and those listed below should send you directly the pages I pulled this information since then, but only a few of them came from the real support of the sites themselves (Apple support was vague, as well as Microsoft, Macintosh and commonly used Internet services providers). Save you time by searching here first.  I hope that you will find what you need in this one-stop-shop and if you get an email that is not listed here, please report it below and I'll add it to this original document.

Finally, as this information comes to the forum and other non-official sites, I want to add that it is a document of copy/paste/edit-for-easy-read I created in my spare time. It is a very long document, so I do is recommended to use the search and find keys to find the email that you need, but the upper part of this definition has as to what the servers, ports and are host names and the basic setup in case you need to know what are these options and their meanings.

Here are the most common settings needed to implement most of the Clients POP3/IMAP e-mail or devices:

The following information below can be found at http://www.swestcom.com/Support/q4.htm

    "What is POP3?

Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) is a standard messaging protocol used to receive e-mail from a remote server to a local e-mail client. POP3 allows you to download e-mail messages to your local computer and read them even when you're offline. »

    "What does IMAP mean?

The Message IMAP (Internet Access) protocol is a messaging protocol that is used to access e-mail on a remote web server from a local client. IMAP and POP3 are the two most common of messaging Internet protocols to retrieve emails. The two protocols are supported by all e-mail clients modern and web servers.

"Main difference between IMAP and POP3:

The POP3 protocol assumes that there is only one client connected to the mailbox. On the other hand, the IMAP protocol allows simultaneous access by multiple clients. IMAP is suitable for you if your mailbox is about to be managed by several users. »

    "What is SMTP?

SMTP simple Mail Transfer Protocol () is the standard protocol for sending emails across the Internet. SMTP uses TCP port 25 or 2525 and sometimes you may have problems to send your messages in case your ISP has closed port 25 (How to check if port 25 is open?). To determine the SMTP server for a given domain name, the MX (Mail eXchange) should have more information."

    "When you set up:

    • POP - choose that POP-UP and the port entering the default server to 110
    • IMAP - choose IMAP and the port entering the server by default to 143
    • All other parameters are the same.
    • Username = [email protected]
    • Password = the password you set up when you set up your mailbox
    • = Incoming mail server mail.yourdomain.com
    • = Mail server outgoingsmtp.yourdomain.com
      • Outgoing requires the authentication of the server (typically found in the settings or advanced options)
      • Do NOT select "Log on using Secure Password Authentication".
      • Use the same username and password as incoming or select "use same settings as incoming.
      • Outgoing server port= 2525 or 587
        • It is subject to change according to individual preferences of your ISP.

Note - Replace with your domain name for "yourdomain.com" and replace the first part of your e-mail address for "user".

    Email ports
For networks, a port means endpoint to a logical connection. The port number identifies what type of port it is. Here's the e-mail ports by default for:

    • POP3 - port 110
    • IMAP - port 143
    • SMTP - port 25
    • HTTP - port 80
    • (SSMTP) - port 465 secure SMTP Protocol
    • Secure IMAP (SSL IMAP4) - port 585
    • IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS) - port 993
    • Secure POP3 (POP) SSL - port 995.

It is just to recap, a series of ports for people who need this information when you configure the HP ePrint app so that they could see their email from the app, I've collected over time.  I am sure that other applications also need this information.  Although long, I couldn't find a more complete place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information or other associates subject below that it is simply a collection of data and it would be virtually impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

Ah, you have installed on your PC, not an Outlook web portal. Just put a shortcut to Outlook in the taskbar and open it. You can do that in Firefox.

  • Can I change a POP3 account existing IMAP account without setting up a new account requiring a new e-mail address?

The instructions in Thunderbird help advise that it is necessary to get a new e-mail address to set up the new IMAP accouint. I would use the existing e-mail address.

It is simply not true. I have Setup several times the same duplicate in Thunderbird, a POP and an IMAP account.

There are ambiguities about what means 'email account '. In this context, it will be the same email account, but using a different connection to negotiate with the server.

Once you have set up, your email account exists, whether you use it or not. The default value of 'existence' is likely to be in your email provider's website. You have an email address and there is that a supplied server somewhere who is willing to accept messages for you. If this account is added to Thunderbird does not affect its basic existence.

In Thunderbird, we talk about setting up e-mail accounts, but here you make an entry to allow Thunderbird to access your account. So tell you him about your e-mail account and where to connect to the server to use. Thunderbird can make this connection using POP, IMAP, or even both at the same time.

The 'final paragraph' is intended, in my opinion, for those who have had an e-mail account with a single supplier and I now turn to another provider and a new account e-mail (address). This is a warning that if they just delete the old account in Thunderbird, its content will fade. You must keep the content by copying them elsewhere before deleting the account. In fact you don't need to remove the old account , but you will be regularly harassed by Thunderbird complaining about his inability to connect to the server.

Go to file | New | Existing e-mail account, add your account again but let Thunderbird select "IMAP".

Now copy (select, drag-and-drop or use the right-click |) Move to) the content from your old account POP-connected to the new. I'm assuming that you change in IMAP because you want to access your messages from more than one device, so want some, if not all of your accumulated messages visible.

If for some reason you are not able to set up IMAP-connected version until you have deleted or closed the older POP login account, then you can instead store messages from the account based on POPS in Thunderbird local folders, delete the old account POP, then add your account to e-mail again but this time it allows to select an IMAP connection. Then you can move your messages to local folders into folders to the new account.

I believe that exact same workaround causes/solutions apply also to Gmail.

    dabair62 wrote:

IMAP is a method (well sort of, it is very simplified) to deal with your email account to the Internet. Another is POP. Another is OWA. The method uses your server must correspond to the method your device is capable of, and the unit must be set correctly for the method. Yahoo uses IMAP protocol (if I remember), while GMail allows you to choose the POP, IMAP or both... do you it via the web interface of Gmail. I recommend IMAP for both because it offers the best capabilities of reconciliation (IMHO) between the appliance and the mail server.

As a general rule, if you enable IMAP on Gmail, then use the wizard to configure on the device, it will work correctly. Unless, of course, all of these previous questions (linked above KB) apply. The password is the same password you use in each interface you use (for example,. webmail) to access this email account. Therefore, I suspect that one of these above issues is at stake here...

    Good luck!

  • I'm unable to download my Gmail email on my Outlook Express account.

I have two gmail accounts on my Outlook Express.  They have worked very well for the last three years

One of the accounts suddenly began to give a problem.  It won't let me download my email to OE - even if the gmail account is good if I go in through Google.

    The error I get is

"There was a problem connecting to your e-mail server. Your password was rejected. "Account: 'pop.gmail.com', server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR [AUTH] username and password not accepted.', Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC92.

Now - I managed to fix this error by deleting my account gmail to OE and then put it back.  I then works fine - until I got disabling my computor.

When I reboot my computor I have the same problem.

The other gmail address / account on the works of OE 100% - with the same settings (POP, etc.)

    Help, please

If Diane fix does not help, try the problem Gmail account into a new identity in OE. File | Identities | Add the new identity. If it works there, set up another Gmail account as well and import all of your messages. Use this new identity.

Outlook Express v 6.0.  without doubt, 2000-2003. Windows XP operating system

My ISP is the post office. I have 3 email accounts of separate post office that work very well.  I have also 2 e-mail addresses of tiscali set up in Outlook Express accounts, as well as 3 my post office accounts.  I can receive emails in addresses tiscali but my problem is that I can't send email on the part of Auditors 2, tiscali. I get various error messages, for the most part No. 0X800CCC79 error. I tried literally everything change and change the details and parameters in the 'Accounts' menus, but whether, I can't send emails for 2 accounts tiscali. Any suggestions?

If you are not connected to a service, then often you cannot send through the service to block spam.  Othertimes, it depends on appropriate settings.  So you should contact the provider tiscali (or check their website for the OE settings) and tell them, you are connected via a different provider and try to send and they have an alternative setting that you can use.  It depends on the provider.

  • I can't delete the emails of one of my Outlook Express email accounts.

    Outlook Express for email

Hi all. I am running Microsoft Windows XP on my computer. I use Outlook Express for e-mail. Currently, I'm unable to delete the emails of one of my Outlook Express email accounts. Everyone knows about this problem? All proposed solutions?

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
