Settings (network settings)

I have a ps3 and I am trying to connect to the internet with and cable plugged into the side of my computer. When I do to connect to the internet is tells me I have to go to settings, then network settings and my settings. How to get to my network settings first and then how do I configure a ethernet cable?

I will assume you are trying to use ICS (Internet connection sharing) with your PS3.  To make this work, you will need to have 2 ethernet ports/locations on your PC.  It would be connected to the router/modem and the other from the PC to the PS3 from your PC.  Then, you should probably have the PS3 powered when you go to network and sharing Center in Vista.  From there, you want to ICS.  for directions with pictures, you can type ICS in aid for a guide. and open the wizard. I have a simple philosophy: just assume everyone is a piece of _ and then be pleasantly surprised if you find someone who is not.

  • How can I change the network settings and air play setting up the itunes which is running on my laptop (windows 10)

A few weeks ago, I was streaming of photos to my TV using my apple TV. Now, whenever I try to play music in my laptop itunes I get the error message "the airplay APPLETV device is not available," he goes on to say "Please check your airtime... configuration and network settings. "I searched for days for these parameters.

Now the itunes on my laptop has no audio data.

The only way I can hear the track I'm playing, is to select the option at the foot of the error message that says "use this computer for now" - this gets quite annoying after awhile!

    any suggestions?

    Thank you.

    Hello [email protected],

I understand that you encounter some problems with the sound settings on your PC after using a home since iTunes for Windows sharing.   The resources below has some basic for home sharing troubleshooting. Specifically, I would say the software updates, cycling the power to the modem/router and check the sound settings in Control Panel to do the internal speakers are of course selected.

    Where is the control panel?

  • Add DNS - network settings, the parameters of the airport or both?

I didn't know there are 2 places for that - and I'm not sure that works best.

Recently added 6.6.6.6 and 8.8.8.8 to try to speed up Web sites that have been loading slowly, as suggested these tips very. I have added in the network settings, but then recently realized that my extreme settings of the airport have a place for dns as well.

I do not understand the difference.

Your Mac setting only controls your Mac.

The parameter to your Airport Extreme allows to set any device on your network.

If you have only one device, there is no difference.

But suppose that your family has 9 network devices: two Mac, a PC, a smart TV connected to Netflix, four smartphones for parents and children and an iPad. If you enter the DNS settings on your Mac, this is the only device that will use the DNS settings. But if you enter the DNS of your network (Airport Extreme) router settings, which becomes the default DNS for any device on the network that does not have its own DNS settings entered. You have only to change DNS setting once, not 9 times for all these devices.

For all my devices that stay at home, I get the DNS on the router addresses, and the devices are all set to look at the IP address of the router to get the DNS so that all devices follow the DNS from the router configuration. For all devices that leave the House, I get the DNS preferred settings on those so that they will continue to look at my favorite, DNS settings even when they are connected to the network of another.

  • Not reflected in the network system preferences utility airport settings

    Airport Express model A1264

    Airport Utility 5.6.1

    Firmware 7.6.7

    MacBook OS 10.6.8

Hello, I am trying to sort out why the Airport utility settings are not the same as the settings in system preferences > network > airport.  If I make a change in Airport utility, it does not change the settings in advance under network options in system preferences and vice versa.  Network names are the same and all other parameters, except the IP numbers are different. (Note: when asked to "Join other network" one and only network name I entered comes up.) All this occurred as a result of a new service by satellite being installed in our premises (I'm in Australia and we have a 'NBN Satellite' service).  IP address in system preferences > network seems to be the IP number, I received when the new system has been activated and the computer that is directly connected by ethernet cable to the modem.   The IP address of the Airport utility is the Airport Express IP number.  I guess that the first IP address is correct as I can connect the MacBook to the internet via Airport. To complicate things, it is that I have the additional problem of not being able to join the network using my MacBook Pro (OS utility 10.10.5, Airport 6.3.5). I get a message telling me to another computer is using IP number again xxxxxxxx test this last (or something similar).  I did originally a default zero value through the Airport utility menu using the MacBook (actually several times), but no change in system preferences > network settings. I think I should add the MacBook Pro Airport utility on the MacBook (which I have) to join the network created on the MacBook.   I use the MacBook for the e-mail and the spread of the internet, and the MacBook Pro should be able to join the network for software and other upgrades. The Airport Express has worked without problem for at least 4 years on our old satellite service. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I'm trying to sort out why the Airport utility settings are not the same as the settings in system preferences > network > airport.

Setting affects only the Airport express airport utility. They do not change anything on the computer.

Setting in the preferences of the computer only affect the computer... They do not change anything on the express.

IP address in system preferences > network seems to be the IP number, I received when the new system has been activated and the computer that is directly connected by ethernet cable to the modem.

Are you a public IP address on the computer? In the old system, you most likely have a private IP address.

The computer really should NOT directly connect a modem... only a modem which has several ethernet ie is actually a router.

That will tend to make it more difficult to set up the express. The express should plug a pure modem... and then the computer plug in the express. In this case, the express would be the main router. (I don't like this setup but because the Express is not powerful enough for this job). As far as your express is the old N a wireless with a single ethernet port.

Honestly, do you a favor and buy another router from apple... the extreme... If you can't afford a new Gen6 then buy a Gen5 on ebay... around $60... immensely better.

The express can then extend the wireless... or just simply do serve airplay etc. as part of the network.

Tell us what model is the modem (+ router?) provided to you by your ISP?

And if you get a public IP address or private on the computer directly connected to it. We can work out the rest from there.

I'm in Melbourne... you can email me direct if you need to. Email is on my website.

  • Fast internet, slow Web pages, is that network settings or router apple

I have not changed the settings from anywhere in quite some time, but I suddenly loads of slow Web page. It was suggested to add some dns (8.8.8.8, 6.6.6.6) to my network settings, but that did not help - can made things slower.

But I'm having the same problem on my ipad WiFi, blu - ray via wifi - so can I assume that I need to change the settings in my extreme? Are there settings DNS from the router as opposed to simply a device? If so, what are the differences.

Once again, my wifi seems strong, my bandwidth speed look ok, but I just recently in the past few days affected by the slowdown on Web pages (in safari and firefox and chrome)

I stumble upon a page from apple for the "optimal settings for routers", but honestly, few things on their page seemed to jibe with extreme settings I have (and Yes, I have all the updates on the firmware of the router about a month ago)

'Internet Fast, slow Web pages' usually indicate DNS problems. You use the Google DNS servers, may or may not, help depending on where you are.

To get a better idea on what DNS servers are going to provide the best performance, I suggest that you try an app like namebench. This application will literally be hundreds of test servers and report their respective performance. You can then decide to use one of their suggestions to see if that will help.

  • Why reset network settings affect networks WiFi on my Mac?

To try to solve issues with AT & T carrier update 24.2 IOS 9.3.2,and reset my network settings by suggestion from Apple If you can not connect to a cellular or cell - data Apple Support Network . As soon as I did, I looked at the WiFi signal on my MacBook Pro of retina disappear; and OS X then prompted me to reenter the information of my WiFi (no known network was available). I then checked my stored WiFi networks, and only attwifi and my work's current access point were (among many others who were already there).

I enjoyed the convenience of synchronization of my WiFi network on my iPhone and MacBook in recent versions of their operating systems. However, there was no warning that resetting the network settings on my iPhone would eliminate all networks on my MacBook Pro. There is also no warning on the page of the Apple website above of the present.

Is this a bug I should report? Since there is no mention of this side effect on the Apple documentation, I am inclined to think that it was not intentional.

  • Even though I have my iPad WiFi connects to the internet even after that I have reset the network settings

Having never had a problem with my iPad since buying about 3 years ago, suddenly I can't access the internet use it & none of the applications that need the internet have access either. (since the last update for IOS 9.3) I have reset the settings of the internet and the WiFi signal at the top is visible. Airport app told me that I have access to the internet, but I did not!  Does anyone else have this problem? I would really appreciate a quick solution, because it's so annoying when things sync and I need them to-such as the events of diary, photos email etc. not to mention the SMS!  Any help gratefully received!

General suggestions for Wi - Fi problems, maybe one of them will help you...

    (1) perform a forced reboot: hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Leave the device to reboot.

    (2) resetting the network settings: settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Join the network again.

    (3) reboot router/Modem: unplug power for 2 minutes and reconnect. Update the Firmware on the router (support Web site of the manufacturer for a new FW check). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (recommended for 2.4 to 20 MHz bandwidth).

    (4) change of Google DNS: settings > Wi - Fi > click the network, delete all the numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or otherwise 8.8.4.4

    (5) disable the prioritization of device on the router if this feature is available.

    (6) determine if other wireless network devices work well (other iOS devices, Mac, PC).

    (7) try the device on another network, i.e., neighbors, the public coffee house, etc.

    (8) to restore the device (ask for more details if you wish).

    (9) go to the Apple Store for the evaluation of the material.

  • External DNS & IP network settings?

    OS X 10.10.5

    Server 5.0.15

I have several problems with my services, and, while I thought I put in place correctly, all signs point to DNS problems.

For reference, here's my simple setup with IPs (my external IP is obviously false):

Modem > router (Apple TC) > Server (Mac Mini)

    1.2.3.4 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.100 *.

In the DNS of Server.app Panel, the State says:

Status: (8) the value your network 1.2.3.4 DNS settings to use this server

    That doesn't seem fair.

In the airport settings, the DNS server is 192.168.1.100.

In my server network settings, it is set to 127.0.0.1.

Everything * looks * right, but I'll have questions left and right with (WebDAV) file sharing, user and management group (with and without Open Directory), etc. etc. etc.

Fortunately the websites is working very well.

    Can you make suggestions?

Are you sure that you have configured the Apple Time Capsule to be in router mode? You want the WAN port, i.e. the lower hole of the Capsule of time connected to the modem and the time Capsule set on ' router Mode: DHCP and NAT'.

The server will probably be on Ethernet and must be connected to one of the LAN ports on the Time Capsule or via a switch connected to one of the ports LAN on the Time Capsule.

You must configure the DHCP server in ad time Capsule the 192.168.1.100 your server as DNS server address.

Maybe you have not configured the DHCP server on the Time Capsule, so it may still be using the default settings and therefore advertising address of the modem.
