Settings of Touchpad Acer R7 lost at startup after Windows Update 8.1

I have an Acer Aspire R7-571. In mice, there is a tab for the momentum, which allows you to configure the touchpad, as follows:

Where you can do things like turn off the tapping, set up scrolling, etc.. In Windows 8, it worked out fine; Since the Windows 8.1 update I find that all these parameters are lost each time that I reboot. To solve this problem, I open Control Panel and open the mouse. I still have to hit tab momentum - just open the control panel mouse Panel is quite suddenly revive all my settings and get the Touchpad works the way it is configured.

I installed the latest drivers of momentum for drivers Acer site Win8.1:

http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/driver/touchpad/TouchPad_ELANTECH_11.6.27.201_W81x64_A.zip?a...

Which erased all my settings, but once I went and set them up again and back on, the problem has been resolved.

  • Black screen on startup after windows update 7 crashed

    Hello

    Hope you can help.

    I have windows 7 64 bit installed and everything was fine until last night.

    It seems a windows update has been downloaded and when I turned my PC it was installing the update - the projection of the usual blue installation screen updates etc.

    It took a long time and it seems to me he had crashed, has frozen I couldn't move the mouse.

    Yes I know it says that you should not turn the PC while the update was the installation, but for me, it seemed like it had crashed and frozen upward.

    So I decided turn off the pc and he left the next day to check the pc.

    I turn on the pc and select windows 7 in my list - I have Setup dual boot

    I get the message that windows did not start properly, so I select boot normally - I get the swirly logo appear and then just a black screen with the cursor that responds to moving the mouse.

    There's just the black screen with the cursor and pass to the next step of the login screen.

    I think because of the windows don't update not install correctly and turning the pc off this contributed to hang on the black screen.

    I tried to start in safe mode to see if the same problem which he passes, I can connect via the SafeMode very well and have the available login screen and entered fine windows via safe mode.

    I get ideas as to what I can do to solve this black screen?

    To confirm once again, this has happened after a windows update tries to install, but as I felt it had crashed I turned off the pc - no drivers graphics etc. have been installed for a long time - only this update of windows

    I hope you can help, thank you very much

    InnI

    EDIT: Just to add that I tried to do a restore point, but as I turned it off I don't have the option to do so.

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried something last night after going through loads of forums.

    I tried F8 for advanced startup options, and I'll give you good last thinking setting up a go, known guess what, it worked!

    I was able to return in Office windows as usual, I even installed the update that it crashed on the last time, well, I think that he reinstalled the last update, it crashed on... anyway, I think I'm back to normal, but will check it out tonight but if you are still having problem try what I did It can work for you.

  • My Equium A60 not startup after Windows update

    Hello.
    I have an Equium A60 (PSA67E) about 1 years. There has been many problems with this one recently. First, there was the problem of overheating. The machine would heat up and stops by itself without any warning. I tried many options by keeping the cooling ports clear but dint help not at all.

    I've recently updated my bios version 1.90 such suggested by Toshiba. I always see overheating so far after the bios update.

    The most annoying is the display driver which is in this case a lack of mobility radeon ATI 7000. This would cause the display to become oversized and the resolution is very low. It would go without saying when I restart the machine.

    Last month, I reformatted the machine using the Toshiba Recovery CD. Everything went well until I am passed on the automatic update of windows. The first update coming, and I install and reboot the machine to let it function. He's fine. Comes the second update is installed and I have proceed to restart to allow functional upgrades, it does not start. The machine keeps starting over and over again without loading the OS. The screen is the typical Toshiba boot screen with the yellow light (charger) on the screen and after some time a blue screen is delivered for a short time (I am unable to read this error message it is said) and the machine starts start again. What can be the problem?

    I need to install windows XP SP2, and for this I need to go through the Windows Update. What can be the remedy and on the update of the available display driver. I tried, but it makes the situation worse.
    I used the recovery CD at least 20 times that there is no alternative. I tried to start in safe mode but din't work.

    Hi, Germain,.

    According to your description of the problem it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with what you have done so far, but I just want to clarify a few points.

    1. After installing the recovery CD system you install/activate your anti-virus software?

    2. are you using Windows Update in automatic mode or you manually select the update process?

    I recommend you to turn off automatic error (Advanced tab in system properties) reboot so the system will not attempt to restart when you get your blue error screen. This will allow you to see what error.

    Kind regards

  • Problems with services of automatic startup after Windows Update problem

    These are probably related to many things I tried trying to solve the problem of Windows Update - until I found the answer to Fix It.  That fixed my Windows Update, but now I have these problems.

    I tried to run the bat file that Sohail suggested in this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/41f1d01e-e787-479b-83de-c66f40a23a37/
    He ran with errors, so I suspect he undid some things and then they don't get put back.

    Those that I know I need is:
    Windows Audio
    DHCP client

    These two begin very well once the system is in place, but I have to do it manually.  They still claim to be automatic when I view in the Services management tool.

    I also noticed that the following services are set to automatic but have not started either.  Is this a problem?
    Task Scheduler
    TCP/IP Net BIOS Helper
    Windows event log
    TPM Base Services

    So, how do you restart automatically?

    Problem posted in another thread to improved Performance.  Long story short - a repair settled with Vista DVD.   He fixed the problem of services, but the problem of Windows Update is back.

  • Satellite A200-10W: I lost dual-mode Touchpad after Windows update

    I got a satellite A200-10W. The touchpad worked well at the beginning. Then, an update of windows has been installed and I lost dual mode on my touchpad.

    It is for me a normal function as a touchpad, but the mode button does not work. It lights, it do give me the button options, volume control does not work it did not scroll even in normal mode either.
    I reinstalled the drivers both synaptics and alps, but nothing helped.

    How can I ever use dual-mode again?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello

    Very strange I didn't noticed any problem with the touchpad after the windows update.
    I have updated my windows and then lost the sound. After restarting again I ran the update and the Øresund back

    But if you, it seems that the MS updates could be a bad influence on the functions of touchpad.

    Have you chosen the touchpad drivers just for the PSAECE series?
    The Synaptics Touch Pad driver to set the properties and the touch pad control functions.
    And the Alps Electric Touch Pad Driver allows you to set the properties and functions of mouse control.

    Perhaps you need to configure the settings again after the new installation of drivers touchpad?  :|

    But have you tried to update to Windows Vista again? Sometimes, you have to restart the laptop to get all the necessary updates that will fix the problems.

    In a value of the case, recover the laptop and does not perform the updates of windows

  • Failure of laptop on startup after windows live update automatically rebooted the computer to install updates.

    Hello

    I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with Vista installed on it. It will now not load since the update live windows rebooted the computer last week.

    When the computer is turned on, it loads a page saying Windows Error Recovery. under the present is said: could not start windows. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to solve the problem: 1 insert the windows installation disc, and then restart the computer, 2. choose your language settings and then click on 'next', 3 click on "repair your computer".

    then he said, other options: If food was interuppted when booting, choose start windows normally. It then gives the other options such as safe mose and last known good configuration.

    I tried selecting start windows normally and safe mode, but it just goes to the windows boot manager with: cannot start windows. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to solve the problem: 1 insert the windows installation disc, and then restart the computer, 2. choose your language settings and then click on 'next', 3 click on "repair your computer".

    under the heading it says: If you do not have the disc to contact your computer manafacturer or the system administrator for assistance.

    and then there: file: ntoskrnl.exe, status: 0xc0000098, Info: windows failed to load because a required file is missing or damaged

    I hope that you will be able to give me a little help because I do not have the windows installation disc. I'm pretty much at my wits end now and start to pull on my hair!

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

  • Acer Aspire E15 hangs up during windows updates

    This is a brand new computer and whenever it tries to install windows updates, it crashes.  He says only: "installation of update 1 of 4, keep your pc.  It has been hours.  This is the 3rd time this has happened.  In order to use my computer again once I just turn it off and turn it back on.  When I do that sometimes it will say "working on updates, get 30% and restarts."  Other times, he doesn't say anything and starts normally.  I thought maybe it was my security software that prevents windows update so I disabled it, but this doesn't seem to be the problem.  I'm so frustrated that I'm about to the area it upward, and then send it back.  I don't even have that he paid for yet and already the problems.

    When you wrote "security software" you mean anti-virus?

    If not, please disable any antivirus and try again to update, if it still crashes, I would re - install the operating system using ALT + F10 at startup and subsequently on the instructions on the screen.

    If it hangs still, even after a BONE re - install, call your dealer or support from Acer for warranty check service.

  • his lost after windows update

    Windows Update ran on August 3 and August 4, 2010. After one of these updates, I lost sound. How will I know that update has been the cause of my loss of sound? I have to go remove each update one by one until I have to get sound or y at - it an easier way? I am running Windows XP as SP3 OS.

    Mike,
    You have several sound devices on your system? for example , is there an audio set (blue, pink and green 1/8 "female audio taken audio) on your motherboard, as well as a set on an expansion card?  If so, you may need to select the correct sound playback and recording device in the tab "sounds and Audio devices" control panel "Audio".

    Hi, I've just updated my Pavilionx2 N005TU for windows 10 yesterday. After update, tochpad is not working and keep turn off every time, even I allow him - he'll be disenabled after closing. And I have to activate whenever I turn on my laptop. You have a permanent solution for this? Thank you.

    PS. I already checked for the new update of device - but no update to touchpad so far.

    Hi Amm_S04, as you know windows 10 has just come out, so it will take time for all drivers (including touchpad drivers) to get the new updated version supporting this new windows. For now you can also check here http://support.hp.com/us-en drivers

    Although I would advice you to wait and update the driver through windows update as soon as it is available.

    Lately when I try to access my windows updates, I get a box saying that windows Explorer has stopped working, while windows Explorer restarts. Then disappears from the page and I'm back where I started. I tried restoring but I have been unsuccessful in the present. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Reggie1524,

    ·         Do you remember (KB) updates that have been installed that caused the problem?

    Follow the steps below for a possible solution:

    Method 1:

    Step 1: Start in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

    What is safe mode?

    See also

    Startup options (including safe mode)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

    Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2: Run a scan of auditor of file system (CFS)

    SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

    Shawn,

    I think this isn't the Windows update that caused this problem. It could be something else the cause. Windows Update never removes any of your files and folders stored in the computer.

    You can try a system restore to a previous point when the computer was working properly.

  • Problems with the PC at startup after installing update KB980248

    I'm not computer savvy very so I will try my best...

    A few weeks ago, I ran update KB980248 the next morning, when I turned on the pc it seemed to freeze on the startup screen displays the Dell logo and bottom right, he had the F2 and F12 options. Finally, he went to a black screen and says something to start from the cd or less, was the SATA a bunch of times.

    I was finally able to get the pc to boot, but it took a while... from some things in here, I saw how to uninstall the update and hide. I disabled automatic update settings and everything seems to be ok. However, my husband is updated and now it happens the same thing for another update... I had to boot into safe mode, but then I constantly get the boot to say cd black screen and then comes sometimes with a word on the hard disk and press F1 to continue and another option.

    I talked to a friend who is informed pc and it said to reinstall windows, that something is wrong with the pc because it shouldn't do it for all the updates. I have no problems until I installed the update in the title.

    Should I reinstall windows, or is there a solution?

    Hi Cape_g,

    Your friend has suggested that this should not happen with all updates. I would also recommend to run a re-install/repair of Windows.
    However, you can try to set up the machine in a clean boot state and check what is happening:
