Setup can't find any hard drives installed on your system

Hi all. I got this laptop from a friend, but it had a bios password and nobody knew what it was. I try to install windows xp professional on this topic. Its a HP Compaq NC 6400, which apparently worked, but someone has changed the password in the bios and after MANY attempts of trial and error, I finally got one to begin but hard disk dive was insane. I tried to load a new copy of windows, but just to the time it gets to where you press ENTER to install windows, it says that the installation program is not all hard drives installed on your system.

When I there remove the hard disk and it slave on my desctop pc it shows his works very well. Please can someone help because I don't know what to do next!

Thanks in advance

Hi Paul. Thanks a lot for your quick response! I did what you said and now windows installs beautifully. I had somehow sorted bios password history by reading the Internet, and after MUCH advice to try all of a sudden. I'm if happy there are smart people like you out there!

Thanks again for your help.

  • Qosmio G30 - Setup can't find any HARD drive

I can't change windows MSE for vista on my G30 set up can not find any hard disk installed on it, but with toshiba drive reanimator it works! can anyone help?

If I understand you right you use a disc of Microsoft to install Vista.

Have you heard of driver SATA? You will need this driver otherwise that your HARD drive will not be recognized.
Download drivers (as far as I know the Intel Storage Manager) and load it after booting from the CD or use you nLite.

In the forum are already a lot of thread on this Yes please read a little.

    Hello

It is perhaps that the hard drive is not connected properly. Make a person qualified to check the connections of the hard drive to make sure they are solid, you need to maybe disconnect and reconnect both ends of the cable.

I suggest you return the article mentioned below to learn how to fix ntoskrnl.exe.

  • Install XP: Setup did not find any hard disk installed

I have this old computer. When I try to install Windows Xp, it says that Setup did not find any hard disk. I have readers of diskette and cd on the computer. A source told me that I need a SATA RAID driver until I do.

    Windows XP
    AMIBIOS
    MSI

Correct, you will need to download the appropriate TXTmode drivers and put them on a floppy disk. If you have a MSI motherboard in your system, you will get these drivers from MSI.

It would be also possible to get Windows to load with a change in your BIOS settings, but I recommend that get you the correct drivers.

  • Cannot install windows XP it said hard drives are not connected & windows can not find the hard drives

I got an asus computer notebook windows vista, upgrade from vista to windows 7, now I'm not able to do a clean install of windows xp, when I try to install XP, it says that hard drives are not connected & windows cannot find not the hard drives, so once again installed windows 7, is there a way to overcome this problem Why do I get the message windows xp does not detect hard drives? I even formatted the hard drive & tried to install Xp, but still, I get the same message.

    The answers will be appreciated...

    Thank you

Because the Windows XP installation CD does not have the necessary disk controller drivers.  You will need a floppy drive to provide the drivers of controller for the installation program, or you will need to burn a CD of Windows XP with the controller drivers slipstreamed into the installation.  A CD of Windows XP with SP2 included may have the necessary drivers.

I try with different distribution of Linux, but nothing.

    Hello

This device was equipped with a SATA HDD. This might be a reason why it of not possible to install Linux. It takes the drivers before you continue to the installation of the OS.
Unfortunately Toshiba doesn't support Linux and you will not be able to find the Linux drivers on the Toshiba site.

  • How can I find the hard drive in my Acer Aspire 10.1 switch keyboard docking station?

My Acer Aspire 10.1 switch was sold with an additional 500 GB HDD in the keyboard. But the drive only extra hard (except C :) I can find in Explorer's "recovery (D :) ", but this is ony 32 GB, but it goes away when I remove the keyboard, so it is in the keyboard. At the start of the computer there is certainly a hard drive of sound from the keyboard, so there is something in there. OS is Win 8.1.

the 500 GB HARD drive is on the keyboard, so if you disconnect Switch10, you lose the remote storage.

You can check it in disk management:

Logo of the Windows key + x

    Click on disk management

It will be all avilable storage the list, in order to check if the HDD 500 GB is there and if it is listed as unallocated space.

  • Dell Vostro 430 sometimes breaks down and does not find the hard drive in the bios

So I have this old - ish Dell Vostro 430, intel cpu, windows 7 hard disk sata 250 GB, 4 GB of ram.

Update BIOS to the latest version 2.4.0

In certain exceptional circumstances, this PC sometimes crashes in windows, it is restarted, and then when he comes back it does not find the hard drive as a gift. He is not seen in the bios and does not start.

To fix, I have to unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds, plug in, reboot the computer and it starts normally, load windows and everything.

So far, I have tried to paginate on another hard disk, reinstall the Windows operating system from scratch, and same thing happens from time to time.

It is difficult to find the cause of the problem, because this happens very rarely.

Sometimes, when the pc is turned on for the first time in the morning, the hard drive is not found by the bios and we reappear at the same trick (disconnect the power cable) to take him back.

When it crashes when using inside Windows, it seems that the reason is the computer can't find the hard drive.

Such computer is out of warranty.

It would be nice to just throw this computer because it is still fine for the work it has to do, + I have Windows and Office OEM license on it, as well as many other software that I have to reinstall etc.etc.

No idea what I could troubleshoot?

Maybe change the motherboard? How can I buy a new motherboard for an out of warranty Dell?

While possibly keeping all the OEM licenses (Windows 7 and Office 2007).

That will make hard to resolve this situation.

    • Have you tried to replace the battery in the motherboard, if nothing else than to exclude it? CR2032, 3-volt lithium-ion, ~ $2 at discount stores. Do not forget to open the BIOS Setup and copy down all current settings first because remove battery BIOS resets the default values, which is maybe not correct for your specific system.
    • Have you tried another SATA data cable, or reinstall the existing at both ends?

If it is a motherboard defective and you replace it with another jury of Vostro 430, you shouldn't have any problems with Windows or Office licenses. Assuming you are using Windows Dell reinstall for exact same version of Windows drive that was installed at the factory, it should not even ask the product key, if you must reinstall Windows on the HARD drive. But even if she asks, there should be a sticker somewhere on the PC with your unique product key so you can enter if the installer made the request.

and make sure you have the Office product key too...

  • The installation of XP Pro cannot find the hard drive

The machine is running XP Pro 32-bit, and I am "upgrading" to 64-bit to work with AutoCAD.  When I boot on the 64-bit Setup installation CD can not find the hard drive and the demolitions.  The drive is already formatted to NTFS.

You try to install on a SATA drive or your disks are on an add-in controller card and the Windows XP Installer x 64 doesn't have the required driver for the controller so it can't detect the drive.

    You have three options:

1 - Use the F6 method to provide the installer for Windows XP x 64 mass storage drivers.  Drivers MUST be provided on a floppy disk, the Setup program will not accept the drivers from other media sources.

2 - enter your CD of Windows XP x 64 drivers.  Note you will find reference to SP3 slipstreaming your Windows CD which you can install Windows on a SATA drive, but please note that Windows XP x 64 doesn't have a SP3, SP2 is the latest service pack for Windows XP x 64.

3 (for the integrated SATA controllers) go into the BIOS and put the controller in IDE, most motherboard with SATA controllers mode on Board have an option to do this.  When mode IDE Windows XP Setup will see the drive and you will be able to install Windows.  Once Windows is installed, you will be able to install the SATA drivers from the installation of Windows XP operational.  You install the SATA drivers before changing the SATA mode controller in the BIOS, or when the Windows boot up upward a BSOD with a 0x7b error.
