While trying to install an anti-virus program, all of a sudden I started having several programs on my laptop. I just kept closing the windows one by one but seems the programs like my hospitality and decide to stay. The original program that I tried to install I think was own speed. After trying to close this program, to the conclusion that it was not free as advertised, clean speed (?) wouldn't let me. He kept from running a scan that I had cancelled several times, to a window asking that I have buy the program. I would like to click on refuse without result. I closed the window to move forward and backward between the 2 panes (scan or buy). I found this is true for at least 2 programs. Finally, I turned off the laptop and open safe mode then restarted. He stopped scanning, the icons were on my desk, so I knew that programs were always there. I went to the control panel and began to remove any program installed on this date. There were more than a dozen that I have the names of the 6 and 7:

    1 advanced System Protector

    2. continue to install VuuPC

    3 reg clean Pro

    4. VLC media player

    5. any Protect

    6 PC speed

7 reg file (?) Nothing in the folder.

Sorry that I don't have all the names as I uninstalled them.  Also as I was uninstalling them, some would give me fits this doing. They would ask if I was sure that I wanted to uninstall and whatever my answer at least 2 programs asking if I wanted to buy. NO! If I did I wouldn't be you uninstall.

  • Can not uninstall program called tv.addons.ag, and I get an error-NSIS error message?

    Separated from this thread.

Can not uninstall program called tv.addons.ag, and I get an error-NSIS error message?

(Moved to install, upgrade, and activate)

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The NSIS error message box (Null soft Scriptable Install System) basically means that the executable user or a Setup installer tries to run is damaged or incomplete.

NSIS error can occur for the following reasons:
    (1) software files downloaded from the Internet are not complete.
    (2) downloaded the software, the files have been changed since the original version.
    (3) your PC is infected with a virus.
    (4) physical media used to install the program is damaged.
    (5) materials required (for example, CD/DVD player) is defective.

I suggest the following tasks and check to see if it helps:

Note: Try to install your software, after the execution of each task.

    (1) clear the cache and cookies in your Web browser.

I suggest you follow the link on how to remove the cache of Internet Explorer below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Internet-Explorer/delete-manage-cookies#IE=ie-11

    (2) if the name of the downloaded installer files composed of several words, rename it to have only one word. (Example: SoftwareNameInstaller.exe)

    (3) if it is available, download the file for installing software from another source approved.

    4) update your antivirus/security software.

    (5) disable your antivirus and any tool on your computer download accelerator, before to perform the download.

    (6) I suggest you try to download and run the Microsoft Security Scanner that allows to remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. Check out the link below to download Microsoft safety scanner http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Hi ginger,

It's Jason with Mindspark Interactive Network technical support.

We want to assure you that, contrary to what you may have read or heard, My Web Search® and its related products is not and has never been malware, spyware or adware. In fact, the My Web Search toolbar has been tested by the editors of security software and has been shown repeatedly to be free of any threat.

The toolbar can be removed by using the standard Add/Remove feature of your Windows operating system.

Important: It is not advisable to manually remove any files or registry entries, or to use the 3rd party software that can leave artifacts behind.

Please note that you will continue to see the My Web Search toolbar until you close and reopen all instances of your Web browser. A reboot will complete the uninstall.

We hope this helps, and that in the future, you will take a second look at the My Web Search toolbar.
