sfc/scannow detected some files corrupted... unable to fix... What do I do?

I use a windows 32-bit Home Basic, it was preinstalled on my PC so I don't have the CD of it but it has a recovery of files on my PC.

Can you please help me solve this problem? If re - install the vista, can I install fresh or repair only... Remember I don't HAVE THE CD, IT WAS PREINSTALLE.

Hello kwamectc,

To determine which files can be repaired by the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
findstr/c: "[SR] cannot repair the military file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > sfcdetails.txt

Note The Sfcdetails.txt file contains details of every time that the System File Checker tool has been run on the computer. The file contains information about the files that are not repaired by the System File Checker tool. Check the date and time entries to determine the problem files that were found last time that you ran the System File Checker tool.

  3. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    Edit sfcdetails.txt

The Sfcdetails.txt file uses the following format:

    The date/time SFC detail

    Repair/replace, follow the steps below:

  1. At a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    takeown /f Path_And_File_Name

For example, type takeown /f E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.

  2. Type the following command and press ENTER to grant administrators full access to the file:
    ICACLS Path_And_File_Name/grant ADMINISTRATORS: F

For example, type icacls E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll/grant administrators: F.

  3. Type the following command to replace the file with a known good copy of the file:
    Copy Path_And_File_Name_Of_Source_File Path_And_File_Name_Of_Destination

For example, type copy E:\temp\jscript.dll E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.

Since you already have a scan to find the file manually and replace it with the correct filter. You can copy and send your diary here also. Let us know if you need help. Make it a great day!

    Hello

I had problems with my new HP laptop dv7 and I followed the steps recommended by the people of hp and after analysis of all the readers and the search for viruses etc. I ran sfc/scannow utility.  This analysis showed the corrupted files that could not be repaired.  So I did a full system recovery disk restore and once again had the same message of corrupted files.  Then I formatted the hard drive and installed the operating system from disk and once again had the same message of corrupted files of sfc/scannow.

Then... hp sent me a new laptop better with the same operating system (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 - 64-bit) and so I just got my new computer by mail and the first thing I did was run sfc/scannow and of course once again, it showed corrupted files that could not be fixed!

    What is going on???

Combing the web, I noticed that this seems to be a widespread phenomenon.

    What should I do?

    Thank you

    Hi MistaRaw,
If you have corruption on your system, you can perform an in place upgarde or a repair install.
    The instructions are:
You can reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings and programs by performing a repair install or an upgrade on the spot with the following steps: (Note: this does not always solve all the problems, especially if the corruption was caused by a 3rd party program or service, you may need to do a clean install) If this is not successful)

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

Please make sure that you backup all the important data before you continue. Please see: methods for backing up your files.

Always make sure that you have the means to reinstall your programs, or by an installation disc or access to the installation files.

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.

    2. on the Install Windows page, click install now.

    3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.

    4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.

    5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license.

    6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.

    7 follow the instructions.

Note : If your installation disc doesn't include SP1, and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates, then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.

Note: Tit the following settings is reset by default:

    Its computer system

    Device drivers

    Visual effects

    Windows Mail

    Windows services

If you notice missing files after the upgrade, look in the following folders:

    C:\Windows.old

    C:\$INPLACE.~TR

    C:\$WINDOWS.~Q

These files can be eliminated with disk cleanup as "records destroyed by upgrade to Windows".

  • SFC/scannow detected files corrupt in Windows 7 64-bit it can not solve, and continues to deny me access to fix.

I ran SFC/scannow this evening and received an error message saying corrupted files had been found, but could not be fixed, and gave me this path to find the journal and view and/or correct the files.  I read a few articles in this community on how to access the logs as an administrator.  No instructions in all of the arrticles works, I denied access on any line to display the files and I can't have them, either.  My laptop Asus G74Sx actually works very well, these corrupt files are something that I should worry and spend hours and hours trying to coax my laptop to me as an administrator?  Can someone please tell me how to enter the newspaper and how to fix corrupted files?

First step, run DISM to correct errors.  Instructions located in the underside of wiki

Please run a check of system files (SFC) & DISM if you're on win 7 or higher

All instructions are in our Wiki article below... If you have any questions please ask us.

Second step.  Re run SFC.  If errors occur in the log upload them on a single disc and we give a link to it in your next post

  • Computer does not detect some files on my Sansa 2 GB Clip

When I search some songs on my Sansa 2 GB clip, the computer does not find them.  I KNOW they are there, because I played against them many times, but when I go to find the computer, they appear.  I ran looking for countless times, but without success.  Any ideas on why this might be happening?  Any help would be appreciated.

Songs transferred to the Clip in MSC USB mode is visible on your computer when you are connected to the computer in MSC mode. Similarly with regard to the MTP mode.  Change the settings for the USB on your Clip under it mode.

Note that Auto will try to connect in MTP mode and then falling back to the CSM.

One reason why many will be set to MSC mode: to be able to see all the files of all time.

Thanks for your information. I thought it was a waste of time and was upset to have to wait an hour and a half for it ends. I was under the impression that Check Disk would only verify that clusters are only valid as in they can keep information. But Check Disk resolved my sfc/scannow gap with files are corrupt.

In addition, the utility repairman to start ran a test after a missed start and I noticed, he said there is a corrupted driver. She did not mention that now after running the disk check.

All things look good now thanks to your information AirDump. My problem occurred after dust removal on my PC. I think that the plug for the power supply was the problem because he was a coward. Or maybe on the SSD cable was loose?

  • Major file Corruption problem...

Last week, I suddenly have a file corruption problem that's what I'm trying to destroy. He showed all first to the top when I converted a 16-bit file to 8-bit, but it's now the case if I add a layer and apply the high pass filter or add some details of shadow & Highlight, then the layers started almost "dissolve" and become more transparent... or they take on transparency of block type. I enclose some photos that show the sort of thing that happens...

It's a fairly simple picture with 5 layers of distinct images. When I added a layer and applied the high pass, he corrupted the background layer to give me this...

    corrupt.jpg

You can see that the icon in the Palace of layers shows clearly the corrupt background layer. There is also a little showing on the icon layer to Hi...

    ScreenShot_corrupt.png

Next is a much bigger (almost 2 GB) file with tons of layers that went well...

    ScreenShot_alllayers.png

.. but when the high pass layer is isolated you can discern the corruption...

    ScreenShot_highpass.png

Shortly after taking these screenshots, the rest of the layers that everything has been corrupted and all layer mask icons were checkered with rasterized transparency. Remove the affected layers and adding them back in did not help... they would just get corrupted again. Remove the damaged layers, saving the rest of file and quit smoking did not help... to open the file again and trying to add layers back would result in still more corruption. I found some success from scratch, do one or two things, save, and then quit Photoshop. Then I would duplicate the file, reopen Photoshop and do one or two things, save again, and then quit Photoshop again... repeat 100 times! Not exactly a workflow, I can live with...

And the really messed thing, is that this is happening with CS6 and the CC version. I'm working on a MacPro 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC, card ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 on OS X 10.8.5 MB

Any help will be welcomed with much praise!

    BT

We'll see if it's a problem of preferences. It is very common, yet easy to fix. Use you especially when Photoshop is upward and you know that you do not alter your installation or settings.

Hold cmd-opt-shift and run Photoshop. You will see a dialog box 'delete settings '. Answer 'Yes' and allow Photoshop to continue loading.

Let's see if that fix it.
