SFP - 10 G - LRM compatible?

I want to perform upgrades piece by piece and would like to know if I

Can I connect a G - LRM SFP - 10 to a GLC-LH-SM 1 GB interface on OM1 fiber at least until what I update the central part of the network and the under ground fiber?

Unfortunately, optical transceiver modules auto negotiate the speed.  Therefore, you cannot connect a 10 Gbps interface to an interface of 1 Gbps.  You need to upgrade both ends that the circuit can be executed.

If you need material to support the intermediate step in the upgrade cycle, you can watch the purchase of Refurbished Cisco's products.

    Peter,

When you use other fibers that the type as the transceiver is deigned to work more, your results may vary widely. The single mode fiber physical cores cannot match perfectly or even well in light of the LED and VCSEL transceiver. Which can cause a significant loss and no established link (or a very "delicate" link which tends to lose the signal of very small disturbances like someone or a piece of equipment, even touch the rider of fiber).

As we see your output, the non-working link is to see a Rx-34 dBm to access optical power to pass despite a strong signal sent by the transmitter/receiver of base Nexus.

Pouvez be able to establish the connection through the cable connection and cleaning and the relocation of their

However, your bet would be using the type of (more expensive) transceivers which are designed for single-mode fiber. In your case, that would be the SFP - 10 G-LR-S.

  • Connection of 10 x SFP - 10 G-SR-S to an Interface of 1 G

    Hello

I have a router ISR4451-X, which comes with 4 x 1GE interfaces, and I want to connect it to a switch C4500-X, which comes with 16 x 10 G interfaces. I use SFP - 10 G-SR-S on the C4500 and want to know what SFP module, I need to use on the ISR4451 to plug these devices together.

It is even possible to connect a router that has a 1GE to a switch that has a SFP 10 G-SR-S?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best, ~ zK

No - you must use a facility such as either:

1 GLC - T (copper 1 Gbps transceiver) to 4500-X end in the regular cat 5 copper interface on the router, or

    2. something like the GLC-SX-MM (transceiver Gbps fiber multimode 1) at both ends.

A SFP 10 G-SR-S cannot connect to any or 1 Gbps transceiver interface. 4500-X SFP ports are backward compatible and accommodates 1 Gbps SFP transceivers.

  • PowerConnect 6224: Dell SFP + port supports combine Dell SFP?

I have a Dell Powerconnect 6224 switch and I installed a Dual Port SFP + Module of adaptation for PowerConnect
6200 series at bay2 at the rear of the switch. I inserted a transceiver, SFP 1000BASE-LX, wavelength 1310nm 10km Reach in the SFP slot + and the other end is connected to a connector SFP 1gbe. I don't have any link. My question is if Dell SFP ports + supports SFP transceivers or it only supports SFP transceivers +?

I checked the ports to help an SFP + SFP +, 10GbE, copper Direct Attach cable Twinaxial, and link LEDs are lighting up.

I believe that the SFP ports + back work with SFP transceivers. Ports before combo will work with SFP transceivers. Another thing to look at is the cable being used. Don't forget that there are specifications that are compatible with transceivers FPS are you wanting to use. A SFP + SFP connection would require that the SFP transceiver + supports a connection of 1 GB.

    Hope this info helps.

  • Is this correct SFP for EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU?

    Hi guys,.

I intend to upgrade the internet for primary circuit and the circuit of shade with 2 sets of public IPs allocated from my ISP. I use modules EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU in 2901 routers. Can I use GLC-SX-MM = FPS as I see in the link below cisco docs: the ISP will end with LC connector multi-mode fiber. And the speed would be 100 Megs with scalable up to 1 Gigabit/s

The SFP is compatible but the router will NOT be able to push 1 Gbps... more like 220 Mbps to 300 Mbps.

  • Fundamental issues of SFP for Small Business Switches

    Hi all

Just for fun, I would switch to fiber, running the trunk ports between my two Cisco SG300 lab switches but I'm new to the media.

In looking at the options, I thought that MM (MGBSX1) is the way to go, but the cost of the 'Official' FPS an arm and a leg. (don't forget, he is my laboratory, not a production environment).

I have a few newbie questions and forgive if this has been answered a hundred times, but I was not able to find in the search.

    1. What I really need to use Cisco brand trancievers? I've seen other than Cisco 1000BASE-SX SFP on ebay for a tenth of the cost. Given that, Yes, the quality may or may not be the same.
    2. Is MGBSX1 way to go? Switches are in different rooms, so distance is not a problem, my choice was based on cost trancievers and media.
    3. SFP ports are valued only Gigabit, but I saw a higher number variety quoted. Is this a limitation of the switch itself, the protocol used, or the transmission media?

Again sorry if these are questions of newb and thanks in advance!

    Lee

    1. should I really use Cisco brand trancievers? I've seen other than Cisco 1000BASE-SX SFP on ebay for a tenth of the cost. Given that, Yes, the quality may or may not be the same.

According to the Quick Start Guide SG300 ' SFP ports are compatible with Cisco modules MGBT1, MGBSX1, MGBLH1, MGBLX1, MGBBX1, MFELX1, MFELX1, and MFEBX1, in addition to the modules from other brands. "

    2. is MGBSX1 way to go? Switches are in different rooms, so distance is not a problem, my choice was based on cost trancievers and media.

Choose a type of SFP based on the length of the links and the type of available fiber.  Small Business card SFP provides the information you need.  The MGBSX1 is probably a good choice, low-cost, up to length of 550 meters over multimode fiber link.

3 ports SFP are valued only Gigabit, but I saw a higher number variety quoted. Is this a limitation of the switch itself, the protocol used, or the transmission media?

Each switch is designed to support specific port speeds, based on the application of switches designed into the network.  Optical transceiver modules do not support different speeds (like many electric ports).  Instead, the switch port is compatible, the transmitter/receiver module can be swapped to change speeds.  Style SFP modules are available at 100 Mbps and 1Gpbs; Modules of SFP + for 10 Gbit/s; higher speeds have new form factors.  You can see a lot of styles of optical Modules on the page Web Cisco transceiver.

    Good luck!

  • For Fast Ethernet SFP modules

    Hello

We are looking for fiber-to-ethernet converter.

Is there any SFP module that plugs directly into the Fast Ethernet to a switch port.

Please visit the following link: -.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/ps6578/product_data_sheet0900aecd801f931c.html

He said "the Cisco100BASE-X Form Factor Pluggable SFP (Small) (Figure 1) is a hot output device that plugs into the Fast Ethernet ports, dual rate Fast/Gigabit Ethernet ports or Gigabit Ethernet from a Cisco switch ports or a router, which connects the port with the fiber cabling network.".

If this module can be plugged into any port of FE, is it compatible with Cisco switches only?...

    Please reply,

    Thank you

    Amit

The SFP port is just a place where the optical SFP is sitting in the switch (connect internally to power, data bus, etc.). SFP offers you the possibility to install a plug-in to adapt to the requirement of the network; If short-range fiber, fiber long reach or same RJ45 without changing an entire line card or switch.  SFP ports are integrated in the switch by a manufacturer, not bolted on after.  The specification for the connector module and SFP interface is detailed in an SFP MSA (multi-source agreement); designed to offer a platform in the industry to build.

If your switch has a fixed electric port and you do not have access to power (for a converter to media or other), then the terminal switch will be replaced by a device with a fiber interface option. That, or you'll find a power on fiber system with enough power to drive a Media Converter (which I don't think that there are still).

    I hope this helps!

  • Can I change the speed on a GB SFP?

We have an ASR1002 edge router I need to connect a 100 LH SM Fiber (1310). I have a GLC-LH-SM and a SFP SFP-GE-L. I need to set the speed to the ASR for the interface of the FPS to 100/full. The IOS does not "speed" controls at the interface level. Can I set the speed to 100 for one of them and, if so, how?

Cannot change the speed for SFP module.

However, for the 100 M SFP Transceiver compatibility Document (link below), the ASR1002 supports the module of GLC-GE-100FX of 100 MB interconnects (split into a compatible slot in GE).

  • Cisco asr 1001 compatible fiber modules

    Hello

We recently purchased a cisco asr 1001 router and I have a number of interface units. I want to fill these with fiber modules.

Can you tell me what fiber modules are compatible Please? SFP regular ok to use or is there a special series of asr of FPS to use?

    Thank you very much

    Paul

    Paul,

You reason that GLC - T & GLC - SX - MM is not supported with the ASR1000 platform.

    The following link confirms that:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6981.html#wp131775

More FPS are supported with ASR1000 platform:

    SFP-GE-T

    SFP-GE-S
    SFP-GE-L
    SFP-GE-Z
    CWDM SFP
    DWDM SFP

    GLC-BX-D
    GLC-BX-U

I handled a similar case yesterday where GLC - T wouldn t aith ASR1k & I confirmed that it would be not be funded in the future as well.

  • Can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Hi all

Please can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have only a single glass fiber then the GLC-LH-SMD = is NOT good

because it is for double connection to a pair of fiber.

You would like more information by your ISP, you will most likely need a GLC-BX-D (RX-TX/1310 nm, 1490 nm) or a GLC-BX-U(1310-nm TX/1490-nm RX)

    See below

1000Base-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U SFP for bidirectional single fiber Applications

SFP 1000BASE-BX-D and 1000BASE-BX-U, compatible with the IEEE 802.3Ah standard 1000BASE-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U, carried on in a single strand of SMF standard.

A 1000BASE-BX10-D device is always connected to a device of 1000BASE-BX10-U with one strand of SMF standard with functioning of the chain of transmission, up to 10 km.

The communication on a single strand of fiber is achieved by separating the wavelength of transmission of both devices, as shown in Figure 2: 1000BASE-BX10-D transmits a channel 1490 nm and receives a signal of 1310 nm, while 1000BASE-BX10-U transmits at 1310 nm wavelength and a signal of 1490 nm. As shown, the presence of a separator of multiplexing (WDM) length of wave-division integrated with SFP to split the 1310 nm, 1490 nm light railways.

Figure 4.      Two-way transmission of a single strand of SMF

GLC-BX-D and SFP GLC-BX-U supports also digital Optics (DOM) of the functions of surveillance in accordance with approval of the standard of the industry (MSA) multisource SFF-8472. This feature gives the end user the ability to analyze parameters in real time of the FPS, such as the optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
