SG100D-08 vs SG200-08

I need a switch 8 ports to eat 6 web servers and while I was not able to decide whether or not I need a switch, I got contradictory responses with respect their construction sales reps.

In a 24/7 environment, SG100D-08 is different than a SG200D-08 switch regarding the components of the product?

The managed version of SG200D is the more reliable/reliable for the use of 24/7?

Thank you

Glen

Hi Glen, the more simplistic answer is that the switch will be more reliable at the end of the day. The reason being, there is no software. Hardware wise, it is technically not much if any difference. But like all things, no matter what with a brain, sometimes they fail or need maintenance.

  • SG200 or SG100 switches of the series?

    Hello

I am helping a company data selection switch and VoIP for a small company of about 40 users who is penetrating new spaces and adding VoIP.

The subnets of voice and data will be routed to the other.  No VLAN or QoS are necessary according to the VoIP provider.

They need ports gigabit PoE 22 for phones and no PoE ports of 40 +.

The part-time computer scientist on the spot has no experience in the management of the switches.  So, they think about the use of six switches of SG100D - 08 p unmanaged for the PoE ports with all what SG100 switch to non PoE ports.  However, it seems that both switches of series SG200 (SG200 - 50 p and SG-200-50 or SG200-26), would be easy to set up for this purpose and require little management.  They have most of the equipment rack mounting.  It seems that SG200 switches would solve what could be a mess of this and son with six SG100D - 08 p of

I understand that little, if any requirements for a non - PoE switch SG200-xx. Is this correct?

Can someone please comment on how the SG200-xxP switches are easy to use and advice or suggestions?

    Thank you

    Caseranch

Hi Caseranch, please consider that SG200 switches are not POE on each port only 1/2 of the ports. At a switch 48 Port POE 24 ports. I know this should meet your requirement, but for the future expansion of POE, another POE switch.

You're right, in this sense, the SG200 needs very little to zero configuration. The only thing I recommend is if you buy a switch to manage, upgrade to the new firmware, factory reset the device and then install and connect things for her. This should be sufficient based on the way you describe things.

  • LACP hash between N3048 and CISCO SG300/SG200 + question Twinax attach direct cable

    Hello

In my network I have deployed two new N3048 with 2 transceivers SPF + and SPF module back + as core switches are connected to other 3 switches from edge of N2048 using optical fiber and I reused my previous CISCO SG300 and SG200 goes to serve the other two boxes of my campus via the spine in copper.

I have 4 copper cable which starts from the hub of the SG300 network and 2 the SG200 brass. I set up to have a redundant connection using 2 + 2 with SG300 and 1 + 1 with SG200 RSTP.

So for the SG300 I re LAG + LACP to have two channels of the N3048s port, but now that a single cable is connected because I don't know what kind of LACP hash mode should I put on N3048 to have a compatible hash between Dell and Cisco switches.

My N3048 have mode 7 (Advanced hash) as default but I guess that cisco models do not understand... so, what mode is the best for LACP work perfectly with small business cisco switches?

I also received my twinax cables to connect my two N3048 via SPF + back modules... conhot can I plug the cables into the slots SPF + (already mounted) without turning off my basic switches?

    Thank you!

    See you soon

Cables can be connected/disconnected, but I don't know if the real module SFP + for the rear of the N3000 is hot plug.

  • SG200 to VLAN SG300

    Hi all

I have a client with of several SG300 for VLAN1 for data and voice VLAN10. PCs are piggy is interrupting the phones and showing in the fine SG300:

A Department has recently employed more people, so we have a SG200 switch to connect the computers and phones. I don't seem to be able to get all the connectivity between the new switch and the SG300 it should connect. I have installation VLAN1 and 10 according to the images below:

(Most likely) I'm missing something obvious here?

    Thanks in advance.

If all ports are 1u, 10 t between the two switches, there is a different problem.

I guess it's possible that the new switch SX200 can act only wobbly. Pass you any firmware prior to installation?

I probably load the latest software and the switch to make sure it isn't being weird with you.

  • Can't get WAP121 to work with the switch SG100D - 08 p... why?

If I connect my WAP121 directly to my router, it works fine.  But when I connect it to my SG100D switch - 08 p I can see, but when I log in, I get "limited connectivity" and he can't "identify."  The switch is PoE and everything seems to work well, but I have tried PoE and steady through the switch; nothing works.  Does not understand why if I connect it cat-cable goes into the switch it works fine, but when I coonect it through the switch, I have problems.  I thought that this switch was unmanaged, but something is happening.  Any ideas?

Nathan, the default state should be fine. Try to upgrade/flash the firmware and reset the device and try again.

  • Firmware upgrade SG200 - 26 older version.

    Hello!

    I have Switch SG200 - 26.

    Firmware version: 1.1.2.0

    Starting version: 1.1.0.6

It is possible do upgrade to the latest version of the firmware 1.4.0.88 directly or should I do the intermediate updates?

Do I have to upgrade the Boot Loader and if so, where I can find it because I have seen that the Firmware for download?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I'm sorry but I read the answer and I don't think that is correct.

On the SX200, SX300 and SX500 switches, you will need to upgrade boot code once you arrive to 1.3.5, otherwise you will not be able to upgrade to the latest firmware, later.

The reason is that the boot code will modify the on-camera flash memory and prepare you for higher versions of firmware.

    Here's the 1.3.5 release notes:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/TD/docs/switches/LAN/csbss/sf20x_sg20x/...

In this document, you will find the following information:

Before the upgrade to version 1.3.5 the bootloader must also be updated. If 1.3.5 version using the initial boot loader, file system is not being upgraded, and in the future the user will not be able upgrade to 1.3.5 above versions.

I will recommend to accelerate the upgrade as follows:

1.3.0.6.2, the 1.3.5.58 (and boot via TFTP code), then 1.4.0.88.

I hope this information is useful.

  • Update of Firmware SG200-08/ssl

Hello, I recently bought the SG200-08 and I was wondering if/when there is another update of firmware coming for the switch that I bought.  I noticed there is no SSL protocol which I can't understand why Cisco has decided to not include the switch.  I would also like to be able to configure SNMP on the switch, but from what I can tell, it cannot connect to a server which is what I need.  I would like to know if these are features coming to SG200-08 or if I just need to buy a new switch that I prefer not to have to do.

    Thanks for your time,

    karlribble

    Hello

SG200-08 is the little brother of the 200 series of switches and as such it has all of the features contained on everything on the other series. This device is not supported on a SSL server or an external SNMP server, but through any other model on the series.

The administration guide for the switches of the SG200 series which shows the configuration of the Server SNMP and SSL are:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/TD/docs/switches/LAN/csbss/sf20x_sg20x/...

Also, here is a link to an emulator for an another SG200 online so that you can see all the features:

    http://www.Cisco.com/assets/Sol/SB/SG200_Emulators/SG200_Emulator_v1-2-9...

At present, there is no information indicating that this characteristics must be included in a new version of the firmware.

Please do not forget to mark a response as correct if it was useful for you, so that other members can benefit from.

  • Page setting for the Port SG200-26 1.4.0.88 corrupt firmware / Firmware Bug?

    Hello

After the upgrade to 2 switches SG200-26 version 1.4.0.88 firmware, I am unable to set up the CONFIGURATION of the PORT page.

    See the attached images.

Must be a bug in the firmware.

    Please notify for the solution!

    Hello Dimitris,

According to the instructions mentioned in the release notes, the downgrade is possible. Please you have the boot updated as well (it is a part of the firmware package)? (answer to this question does not depend on possibility of downgrade).

What about other browsers, don't know you the same problem with Firefox or Chrome?

  • Problem with DHCP SG200-26

Hello, I have a switch SG200-26 for a small business network that gives me some irregular deadlines.  We have a wired broadband to Internet services, (cable Modem), which is plugged into a port on the switch Gig.  In our office space, we have a wireless router for PCs connected to SG200-26, and connected by Ethernet to SG200-26 IP phones.  In the PC desktop access via Wireless-> SG200 - 26-> cable Modem.

DHCP is provided by cable modem for the devices connected to the SG200-26, devices on the wireless get an IP address of the wireless AP.

I have an IP phone and a laptop that won't get a DHCP address when it is connected to the switch SG200-26.  I know that DHCP works on the cable modem because the 6-10 devices work without problem.  The phone that will not get an address is new.  When I connect to the wireless router to test it, it gets an IP address without problem.  I connect my laptop to the switch and that you do not get a DHCP address.  I rebooted the cable modem, all devices got an IP address except this new phone.  I blame the phone, but my laptop is not getting and address either.  I also checked the cable operator and they don't see any errors on the cable Modem.

Help.  I fear that the switch is failed the DHCP information and when the current IP address leases expire I have a dead network.

    Thank you

    Hello

If you have this option then the best Setup is to connect your E2500 directly to the modem with a static IP address, then connect the switch to the E2500 and connect the whole switch. It works like a charm.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Web interface SG200 problems - 50 p

I just bought a Cisco SG200 - 50 used p switch. I use it in my house. I'm trying to access the web based interface to play and manage the switch. The problem is that the interface doesn't have any language and it does give me an option to select English. I am able to open a session, once again, the initial screen is without any text at all. I've attached screenshots. What I am doing wrong?

    Any help would be appreciated?

    Hello

It is because of IE, the IP address of the switch must be approved in Internet Explorer

IE under internet option--> Security--> Trusted site--> click on Site and add the IP address of the switch to Trusted Sites and try again

  • interface Web for SG200 - 50 p

I just bought a Cisco SG200 - 50 used p switch. I use it in my house. I'm trying to access the web-based interface to play and manage the switch but I can't do it. I am a novice. I have my router Ethernet connection in the switch. It is plugged into the port 49. I have heaps of other stuff connected to most of the other ports. My problem is that I can't access the interface to the default IP 192.168.1.254. I have the switch to get it to the default factory settings. I restart and power he cycled. No help. I thought that maybe there is a different IP is set by the seller which is not compensation, so I tracert my router and the only IP address that appears is my router. The switch seems to operate them on devices have internet access. Can you please help...

    Hi Pareshraja,

    Check the LED system:

    1. If it's Green stable - the IP address is assigned by the DHCP server or static

    2. If it flashes green - the IP address is 192.168.1.254 default

The best way to overcome this problem, I guess that would be:

    1. switch to factory default

    2. check if the system LED flashes green

    3. connect PC ONLY with static IP 192.168.1.100 (for example)

    4. access to the web interface of the switch and set the static IP address

5 firmware update might be the next step, you want to do

Check out the quick guide that may be helpful:

  • Configuration of VLAN (management) SG200 series

    Hello.

Can someone help me configure (a normally very easy thing..) on a Cisco SG200-08 switch?

Please see attachment (sg200 - 1.jpg) for detailed information. ... Sorry in advance for my bad writing :)

    My problem is:

I want to manage the switch via the trunkport (port1) on the SG200 via the MGMT on VLAN30 pc and have everything (7ports) free other VIRTUAL networks.

Please see the attached screenshots for my current config.
This config works (I can ping the pc mgmt sg200), but I can't change the VLAN for port2. (it is said that I lose the management functionality)

    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,.

Indeed, you'd have this error message and no matter if this VLAN 30 is the default of the switch or just the IPv4 interface is on this VLAN, there should always be a port (outside trunk) to keep the vlan 30 untagged and PVID.

I guess you want to use all ports up but unfortunately it's like switch was design.

    Kind regards

    Aleksandra
