SG200 - 26 - DHCP

Hi all

I just want to confirm something.

The switch above perhaps a DHCP server?

IM limited to virtual resources and cannot create an another VM (for now) to be a DHCP server, it is in our test lab, so I can't add a dhcp server to one of the current direct boxes - it will affect our tests somehow.

Thanks in advance

-rish

No DHCP server on the switch.  Need to go to SG300 for this feature.

  • SG200-26 DHCP feature does not?

    Hello

I bought a SG200-26 switch and wanted to replace some old Netgear switches with her. With the former, simple Netgear switch everything has worked. With the SG200-26 the only way to get a connection of the switch is to affect the manual IP address. I want the switch to automatically distribute IP addresses and activated the DHCP function in the web interface, but it still does not work. I also tried to restore factory default and set to update to the latest firmware, but it also did not help. I really prefer the switch to handle this. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Frank

    Hi Frank,.

200 series of switches is not DHCP Server feature.  The 300 and higher are DHCP server optionally on them, but the 200 do not since it's just a layer 2 switch.

If you do not have to set a static on your PC you can always plug the switch into a network that has DHCP running.  The switch default values will pull a DHCP address for itself, then you can check your DHCP server for what address he got and use it for the admin access without having to adjust a static on your PC.

Hope that helps and thanks for using Cisco,

  • Problem with DHCP SG200-26

Hello, I have a switch SG200-26 for a small business network that gives me some irregular deadlines.  We have a wired broadband to Internet services, (cable Modem), which is plugged into a port on the switch Gig.  In our office space, we have a wireless router for PCs connected to SG200-26, and connected by Ethernet to SG200-26 IP phones.  In the PC desktop access via Wireless-> SG200 - 26-> cable Modem.

DHCP is provided by cable modem for the devices connected to the SG200-26, devices on the wireless get an IP address of the wireless AP.

I have an IP phone and a laptop that won't get a DHCP address when it is connected to the switch SG200-26.  I know that DHCP works on the cable modem because the 6-10 devices work without problem.  The phone that will not get an address is new.  When I connect to the wireless router to test it, it gets an IP address without problem.  I connect my laptop to the switch and that you do not get a DHCP address.  I rebooted the cable modem, all devices got an IP address except this new phone.  I blame the phone, but my laptop is not getting and address either.  I also checked the cable operator and they don't see any errors on the cable Modem.

Help.  I fear that the switch is failed the DHCP information and when the current IP address leases expire I have a dead network.

    Thank you

    Hello

If you have this option then the best Setup is to connect your E2500 directly to the modem with a static IP address, then connect the switch to the E2500 and connect the whole switch. It works like a charm.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • problem with dhcp Cisco sg200 voice vlan

I have cisco sg200 50 p connected to the switch cisco 3750. I just wanted to separate voice (vlan2) and data (vlan1) VLAN. I created vlan 2 as my voice VLAN and separate dhcp server for vlan 2 to give IPS for phones. However the phone ip connected to my voice vlan (vlan 2) does not receive the ip address of my dhcp server vlan 2.

the dhcp server is connected to a switch with an access port (vlan2-voice) 3750

two switches are connected through the trunk ports and allowed vlan 1 & 2

IP phone is connected to sg200 via the access port (vlan 2).

Note: there is a pc connected to the ip phone

I'm really grateful if someone can help me with this problem

    Hi Ruchiran,

To cover the base, ensure that VLAN 2 is added to the database VLAN on the 3750. Simple by using the command "show vlan id 2", if it is not found, you must first create the VLAN 2 on the 3750.

Second, if you connect the same IP phone directly to the 3750 on an access port, vlan 2 unidentified, is the phone receives IP address as you hope?

Then, on the trunk of 3750 connection to the SX200. Building the trunk when using a command like "switchport trunk allowed vlan remove 1-4094," then build the trunk more precisely with the VLAN ' trunk switchport allowed vlan add 2 "who will score 2 VLAN port." "

On the SG200 switch, must be defined the trunk and VLAN Tag 2 on the port to connect to 3750 then the connection to the phone port should be 2 VLANS not identified as access port.

  • DNS or DHCP SG200 - issue 26

    Hi forum

    I'm having some trouble with a SG200 - 26.

Its new and I think the only adjustment was its IP address.

I think that all other parameters may be by default/s.

All our workstations and the servers were connected through the switch as expected.  One of these servers providing DHCP service.

We also have a bunch of Cisco phones that worked fine with the old switch, BUT...

When I plug the phone in the SG200 - 26, they begin to initialize.

After the message "Initializing network", they are all stuck on "check the DNS.

It seems that all phones can not get any IP address or DNS of the DHCP server settings, so failure is assured.

Please and thankyous for advice or hints to make it work as you want.

    I hope it's just a PBKAC.

I have quite the same problem with a SG200-26, but the effect is larger.

Several Cisco 7911 G phones operate smoothly on our network, before connecting the SG200-26.

After having connected the switch cisco (15-30 seconds), they began to 'record' status and getting stuck there. Despite the fact that they were already registered and work, they become inaccessible even by PING.

Note that the phones are NOT connected to the Cisco switch, however they are affected by its presence.

The earthing switch Cisco also restores the normal situation of the 7911Gs (after 20-30 seconds).

To complicate my understanding, the PC are NOT affected by the presence of Cisco SG200-26.

As for Brian Roper, the game only I changed the switch are name/address/password. No VLAN.

You can guess that such a device is pretty devastating for our services, instead I bought to solve problems.

    Any other suggestions?

  • DHCP on that SEPARATE SG200 SG300

    Hello

I have a SG300-10 and a SG200-26. I also have a flashed OpenWRT router that can mark the VLAN.

My problem now is that my default VLAN 1, my router's DHCP in VLAN 1, and I want all my network on VLAN 1, but my SG200 equipment, when the SG300 months, won't get an IP address.

My SG300 pulls an IP very well from my router DHCP pool. When I connect the SG200 directly using either 1UP port port settings or 1TP, I get an IP address very well. When I DRAG my connection (1-3 of the two ports) I get no DHCP information sent by the LAG or the SG200, nor on the other equipment of the customer that are defined for DHCP.

    I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi John, can show you how you have configured the LAG on both switches?

The offset is not different from any other port connection so maybe it's a setting mismatch, spanning tree loop or a bit of flavor, something along those thoughts.

  • DHCP for several local area networks VIRTUAL via SG200 - 50 p

Here's my scenario.  One of my clients is an executive suite.  Each office gets its own internet through a separate router.  It is a big mess of wiring and confusion.  I want to simplify this by using a single router that feeds a single DHCP subnet to a confgured to switch SG200 - 50 p with multiple VIRTUAL LANs. I was able to do this by connecting an ethernet cable from the router to each group VLAN ports.  So VLAN1 has 4 ports, the first is connected to the router.  VLAN2 has 4 ports, the first is connected to the router etc.    Each VLAN is done with success of DHCP, I isolate traffic between the VLANS.  There is no cross = ping between the VLAN, which is what I want.  And each VLAN can access resources within its VIRTUAL LAN and also provides access to the internet.  Bravo HOWEVER, I would like to provide DHCP to all them VLAN on a single switch port, rather you use a router to power for each grouping of VIRTUAL LAN port.  Because my router is limited to 4 ports, I am limited to 4 VLANS.  I need 12.   I guess this is accomplished in trunking all the VLAN of the to a single port.  But I failed to achieve.  Any ideas are much appreciated.

Hi Andy, it depends on what one of your routers support. The switch supports 802. 1 q. One of your routers must support a trunk or subinterfaces with 802. 1 q capabilities. It is very important for more than just DHCP. Since I use a single wire, all the VLAN except the vlan native will not have access to the internet unless the router can understand tags vlan.

My advice to you is first to identify the capacity of your routers, know which router you have / want that supports 12 VLAN and 802. 1 q. The configuration should be the easy part.

  • interface Web for SG200 - 50 p

I just bought a Cisco SG200 - 50 used p switch. I use it in my house. I'm trying to access the web-based interface to play and manage the switch but I can't do it. I am a novice. I have my router Ethernet connection in the switch. It is plugged into the port 49. I have heaps of other stuff connected to most of the other ports. My problem is that I can't access the interface to the default IP 192.168.1.254. I have the switch to get it to the default factory settings. I restart and power he cycled. No help. I thought that maybe there is a different IP is set by the seller which is not compensation, so I tracert my router and the only IP address that appears is my router. The switch seems to operate them on devices have internet access. Can you please help...

    Hi Pareshraja,

    Check the LED system:

    1. If it's Green stable - the IP address is assigned by the DHCP server or static

    2. If it flashes green - the IP address is 192.168.1.254 default

The best way to overcome this problem, I guess that would be:

    1. switch to factory default

    2. check if the system LED flashes green

    3. connect PC ONLY with static IP 192.168.1.100 (for example)

    4. access to the web interface of the switch and set the static IP address

5 firmware update might be the next step, you want to do

Check out the quick guide that may be helpful:

  • Isolate SG200-8 ports

    Hello

I have 2 links VDSL I am sharing between 9 users. I have a RV082 connected to the two routers/VDSL modem. Some users are connected directly to the RV082 and some are behind a SG200 switch. I am able to isolate from each other on the RV082 LAN ports but not on the SG200 when well even the SG200 is supposed to manage the VLAN in a more sophisticated way (IEEE 802. 1 q) than the RV082. Is it possible to do what I want with these devices, or do I have to replace one of them?

The goal is to isolate users so that what they do on their own local network cannot interfere with each other. A user simply reduced the net by plugging the side LAN from the router to my switch, creating a DHCP conflict.

    Thank you

Hi James, double NAT isn't necessarily a problem. It is simply a warning. You (those who) could have features common hedges. As the VPN port forwarding, etc.

For port security, you can essentially force a person to use only a specific device, or a specific device by port to limit the number of MAC addresses or specific MAC addresses amount.

The last question is quite interesting, because it is not a guarantee which DHCP server a host will respond to the. But I don't think it would help.

The RV320 router is certainly an attractive product with a good feature set.

This is the device emulator page

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/community/NetPro/small-business/onlinedemos

Here you can see a lot of the offerings of small business and how to configure them in a mock up GUI. It is not perfect, but it is darn close to end.

Edit - another thought, unfortunately the SG200-8 does not support this feature but... Another thing, you could do is take a SX300 10 ports switch and use "protect ports." Enable the feature on all ports of the switch, and no ports communicate with each other.

  • New issue of user SG200-08

    Hello

THA SG200 must all special hardening box or security configurations to run safely on the network?

For the question, please assume that there is a cable modem, whicn connects to a router (w/DHCP), which connects to the switch and then to computers. I have to make sure that it is not open a 'hole' in the network.

    Thank you!

Hi David, the switch does not 'reduces' network security. The switch is essentially as 'hard' that your network starts with. You can use additional features such as VLAN for reasons of security for example if can take over your computer network.

  • VLAN SG200-26-SPA303 does not

Please forgive me and new small business switches, I am more familiar with IOS. We have recently purchsed a SG200-26 and have several SPA303 with 2 ports. The other component is a Sonicwall NSA3500.

SG200-26 is an interface to the Sonicwall that interface has a primary school of 172.20.3.x and void interface is 172.20.5.x. I have PST VLAN 5

I went to "Create of VLAN" SG200-26 and VLAN 5 has also created and under VLAN voice ID is 5.

Then I went to the SmartPort and assigned GE24 IP Phone + office. It was OK. But when I go to the SPA303 and enable VLANS and VLAN ID 5 get the network initialization. I am able to ping the 172.20.5.1 which is the gateway for the VLAN, but don't always shoot no IP address. I also have a beach DHCP the subinterface assinged.

I also use the Configuration of Cisco's Assistant. I can see the switch SG200-26 and my IP defined, but it shows no IP address. So, I know that the CDP of telephone to the switch works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi James, when you configure anything, you must choose one method or the other. How to read your information is configure you the vlan voice, but you also implement a macro on the port. These can have an effect of the cancellation.

I do not recommend you remove any manual configuration, you have done on the phone port (s) and enable the vlan auto to take care of this voice.

In addition, check it vlan automatic voice makes the phone port 1untagged, 5 tag, or whatever is the vlan database is.

One thing I did notice in the text, this is how to set up the link between the switch and Sonicwall? You must manually configure the link between the switch and the Sonicwall. If your vlan by default is 1 and vlan 5 voice then the link between devices will be 1untagged, 5 the tag.

  • SG200-08

    Hello

I bought a SG200-08 switch in December. He refused to start with a led port orange 1 on. The other, that I received for the replacement refused to start too. System led green flashes all the time and switch refused to start. I tried the reset without success.

What can I do? I missed something?

    Thank you

    Patrick

    Hello Patrick,.

The switch is not a dhcp server, which makes the dhcp on your network?

You may need to configure your pc to a static address in the 192.168.1.x 255.255.255.0 subnet in order to configure the switch on your network.

Please let us know if you need help, or see the quick start guide which can be found here.

  • Unable to access the web interface for SG200-18

    Hello

I got a new switch and I am trying to connect a UCS.  I ping the switch very well, but when I try to use IE8 or firefox, I can't go to the web interface to configure.

    Here is my configuration:

    Cisco UCS C210 M2

    IP = 192.168.1.100

    Subnet = 255.555.255.0

    Default gateway = 192.168.1.1

    Switch SG200-18

Default IP = 192.168.1.254 (it is not DHCP)

    Any pointers?

    Tom G

You need to set a static IP on the PC that is connected to the switch. The IP address of the PC

must be on the same subnet as the 192.168.1.254.  You may need to try something lower to IE8. Should be

works with Firefox and IE7. There is also a browser called GreenBrowser which works usually with switches.

  • Can I have 2 Airport Extreme with running in a single wired network DHCP server

    Hello friends,

Just a teenager from the windows world crawling as a child in the MAC world.

I'm curious to know if we can have 2 extreme airport, acting as 2 DHCP servers in the same local network. I really doubt if it is possible, but still want to have Advisor by experts. I am considering a wired LAN. If possible, please help me understand how this can be done in detail.

    Thank you.

In fact, you can. The key is to assign different DHCP scopes for each base station in the same IP address space.

For example, you could assign the range 10.0.1.2 through 10.0.1.99 to a base station and have the other on: 10.0.1.100 via 10.0.1.200.

You set the DHCP scope or range using AirPort Utility, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • Select the network tab.
    • Select Network Options...
    • The range is set with the option "IPv4 DHCP Range".

But the question would be why would you?
