No, at the present time, iCloud is configured for use by a single account to share data between devices of the owner of this account.  Your best bet for what you are looking for would be to use a third party application like Dropbox or Google Drive.

  • iCloud drive appears when I want to send a file to, say, Messages, or attach a file to an e-mail.

How can I make the drive iCloud on my macbook pro (OS X El Capitan, v. 10.11.4) show when I want to send a file that are stored at anyone? Today was Messages which I pop up. Other times, it was in Outlook for Mac or Facebook.

What I ended up doing today opened the relevant folder on iCloud, select the file and share it. If I try the function "send a file" in the Messages, the drive does not appear. I have visible in the sidebar of Finder, but I can see it only when I'm in = the Finder, not when I use a soft.

I checked all the settings I can think, looked through the articles of help and FAQ on apple.com, but couldn't find an answer to something that seems simple enough.

    Thanks for any help!

Messages for OSX is very basic. You cannot navigate to the iCloud drive to get a file to attach.

You can however, as you can see, push a file to iCloud drive to the Message using the share menu on iCloud drive.

That is how it is designed. The iOS app is similar, but you can attach a picture here but only from the photo app or the Photos app, once again, not iCloud drive.

  • Can I share a folder to iCloud by car?

I am now on MacOS, and I was wondering if I can share a link to a folder that is located on iCloud drive to friends?

    Thank you!

Non - iCloud drive and folder structure is strictly for sharing with a single account.

For some documents iWork and photos, you can share them individually or by the addition of a person to a shared photo album, but which is based on the design of the app and not a broader based folder file sharing idiom.

You can use the MailDrop Apple feature to each file by e-mail to recipients who need to share the file, but it is not something that has hosted and really shared in the sense that a change in the file by a user would then translate on the cloud.

  • No iCloud drive merger or double documents folder?

I have two computers that I had of the SugarSync, sync.  In other words, the documents folder on both computers, through SugarSync, is synchronized and identical.  If I go into system preferences > iCloud and click Options to iCloud drive and turn on the desktop and Documents folders, be it synchronize (or fusion) the dossier of documents on two computers or it will publish two documents separate (and then more and more different) folders?  Thank you, in advance!

I use iCloud Drive to synchronize the office and the three Macs Documents folder.

Initially, the synchronization to create a folder for the documents of every Mac as subfolders of Documents and office, named 'old Documents - computer name '. Thus, there are essentially three separate folders of documents of each computer. I have to merge them on mine, if I want to.

In my case, that doesn't matter much, because I started syncing with almost empty Documents and office on three Macs.  Any document that I add after the initial synchronization is now synchronized with the devices.

In your case, where the records are already synchronized, you could simply remove a set of Documents on one computer, before you start the synchronization.

  • Files in my folder of drive on my mac iCloud also exist on my hard drive?

I want to my Lightroom library on icloud backup disk, but wish that all files even exist on my computer, and not only in the cloud. This is the case if I move these files to my iCloud drive folder? I'm sorry if this is a question answered, but I've now read several guides online and can't seem to find the answer to this. Thank you.

    Yes.

Currently, iCloud Drive has a local folder corresponding to your drive system hard. Byte by byte.

  • Should I use iCloud drive to share documents with a member of the family?

My wife has retired and is buying an iPad Pro to replace his work computer.  It is not an advanced user.

If she wants to keep a document, can send it to my iCloud for storing drive?  Works the family shares in iCloud drive, as in iCloud?

I am less interested in sharing music etc to save some documents.

    Thank you.

Well, it depends on how the device is connected. It has its own ID-Apple/iCloud? I would recommend that it should have its own, as sharing an iCloud or Apple ID may cause Messages, FaceTime, Notes, virtually everything to share between the two phones. Most people find it quite annoying.

If it is signed with the ID Apple/iCloud then she would need to set up and use his own iCloud drive - it is not a part of the family sharing.

If it is signed with your identifying Apple/iCloud, she can use your iCloud drive.

  • My entire Pages iCloud drive folder disappeared.

I went to update a file that I keep on my Pages iCloud drive, and he was gone. Everything was gone! Numbers and Keynote files were still there, but all of my Keynote files had been deleted (not by me). I was able to recover the Keynote files through the recovery of the iCloud file page, but none of the files Pages are listed. I have TimeMachine backup for all of my Macs, but it does not include the iCloud drive.

I usually have to access the files from my MacBook Air, but sometimes I edited my home, my work MacBook Pro iMac, my iPhone 6 and my iPad. All have the latest versions of the OS.

Time Machine backup files from iCloud, but not in an obvious situation. Launch the restore from Time Machine application. When you are presented with the window of time Machine, click the library folder in your home connection directory. Find the Mobile Documents folder it contains. This is your viewer to iCloud.

At first, your Pages folder may be missing. Start walking in time until it reappears, then double-click the folder to open it. Assess if all of your files are in the folder. If so, then use the left arrow to pull this file Pages, select this folder, and then choose restore. Otherwise, you may need to travel in time to assess whether your files are all present before the deletion of folder and then restore the Pages folder.

  • iCloud drive a replacement of Google Drive: auto synchronization of folder?

Because I like to try to stay in the Apple ecosystem as much as possible, I am finally moving to an investigation on iCloud Drive on my Mac as a substitute for Google Drive, which I am currently using.

Why I use Google Drive: so that my documents on my Mac is accessible when I'm on my iPhone and iPad. (Pretty good the way Drop Box works, I think)

My question: is it possible to have My Documents folder on my Mac automatically sync with iCloud Drive, so that if I work on my Mac and create a new document (which can be found in the Documents folder), it will be automatically uploaded to iCloud by car?

I know this must be a matter of common/simple, but my research could not get a satisfactory answer.

    Thank you

If you have enough room on your iCloud Drive create a new folder called "Documents" and place it in the iCloud drive:

Now select and do drag and drop these elements in your Documents/Home/users folder you want to synchronize with all your devices in the folder Documents/iCloud .

  • How can I copy the folder my documents in my iCloud drive and then I sync the two after that?

How can I copy the folder my documents in my iCloud drive and then I sync the two after that?

You can simply drag in iCloud reader, but I pass and move documents in their files app instead. It will probably take a while to download all documents.

It is not a way to sync without some third party software that synchronizes folders, or learn how to use rsync in the Terminal.

Instead of synchronization, simply use the iCloud drive in the 'Documents' folder after you move the files.
