Share a printer from XP to Windows 7.

How to connect my computer running Windows 7 on a printer connected to a computer that is running Windows XP? The reason im not to plug the printer to Windows 7 computer is because I have no place here, so I leave the printer in my room of sisters with his computer XP. Any help would be great, thanks.

  • Deskjet D2660 printer: unable to print from your PC Windows 10 using printer HP Deskjet D2660 shared connected to Windows 7 PC

    Hello

I have two PC Marge and Homer connected through a NetGear router:

Margin: A Windows 7 32 bit laptop computer with an HP Deskjet D2660 printer and one scanner HP Scanjet 2400 attached to it. All these devices work perfectly well.

Homer: 10 64 bit Windows desktop without devices.

The two computers share their photos, music, videos and documents folders and printers via a homegroup. However, although Homer can see the printer connected to the margin, if I try to print anything from Homer, it fails. To give an example of this, if I print from 2013 word on Homer, the dialog box is shown below:

At other times, on Homer, the item to be printed appears in the print queue, spool but then disappear. Moreover, I am aware of the problems of HP driver causing the elements to disappear with the disappearance of print queues in Windows.

All the HP diagnostic software I tried did not detect the printer, perhaps because it is an older model.

    Can someone advise?

    Thank you

    Martin O'Shea.

For the Dissapperaing of print job in the queue. Please follow the path below.

Step: 1 Goto C drive--> Windows System32-->--> coil--> printers (right click and click Properties).

Step: 2. under printer properties. Click the Security tab.

Step: 3 Under Group or user name-> click on each one, then click on modify.

Click on allow on all the paramaters (Permission) and then click on apply and then click ok.

Step: 4 reboot the system and unplug the power cable from the printer without pressing the power button on the printer.

Problem should be solved, it's usually because that computer allocates the permission for printing.

I hope that this should take care of the concern.

  • OfficeJet 6000 computer connected to windows 7. Unable to print from the laptop Windows XP

Printer connected by USB to the Windows 7 desktop.  Printing is fine.  I have two computers on the same network of working group, file sharing is allowed.  My laptop detects the printer on the network, but there is apparently a driver problem.  The disc supplied with the printer will only install on XP and Vista, so downloaded the drivers for the new office of windows 7.  I either get a message "Failed to print" or "the handle is invalid."  When I tried to connect to the printer via the network of sharing and tried to open it, I was told that the wrong drivers were located on the server.  He had the air of a file with *. INF.  Do I have the wrong drivers on the desktop or do I need to install the drivers on the laptop?  I never had this problem with my old Vista desktop.

Hello.  Finally, I was able to install additional drivers for XP on the server computer and can now print from the laptop.  Thanks for the help!

I can't print using Firefox 3.6.3. I have a canon mx340 printer and am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Can I print files, email (Outlook), IE and everything else. I downloaded the latest print drivers. I have reset the printer using Firefox "subject: config" that suits it temporary, but after some time it stops again to print.

    This has happened

    Each time Firefox opened

I solved this problem. I had to disable the functionality of the browser virtualization in Zone Alarm Extreme Security. It wiped out all the settings of Firefox, but I got bookmarks, etc. saved. (given by the original poster)

    Hi BudRamey,

    Hi Mohammed Arif a. R,.

You can try to plug the printer again and check the updates of Windows and see if the drivers are install.

Install Windows updates in Windows 7

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a will not print from Windows 8.1

I have a HP printer Officejet Pro 8600 N911a that returns the 72234 error code everytime I try to print a document from my Windows 8.1 desktop (HP 1520 t).

Also, there is a single instance of error code 74899

The same document prints fine on my Windows 7 Desktop and my Windows 7 Netbook.

Firmware of the printer is: CLP1CN1416AR

Firmware from the Support Page of the printer appears as: CLP1CN1322CR (2014-07-18)

What should I do next to be able to print from my computer Windows 8.1.

    Steve

Note: This is the first issue I had with this printer that was bought a year ago.

Hello Steve, I hope you're well

Thanks for getting back to me with your info!

Yes, I would first of all, running the wizard of wireless configuration from the front panel of the printer (installation program, Menu, Assistant wireless network), make sure that the printer is connected to your network, then proceed to uninstall the printer, restart the PC and reinstall them both back on your computer.

I hope that this is the solution!

Y at - it a solution or a fix for this?
A fix has been tried, but he said "is not suitable for your computer" (or similar).

Please answer all the questions of diagnostic following by number in your very next answer (no need to quote this post):

    1. when (date about) don't you buy the computer?

2A. how long has your new computer connected to the internet activate you the free trial-McAfee?

2B. is the McAfee McAfee Security Centerapplication?

    3. Once you plugged your new computer to the internet, which you did everything first: (a) activate the free trial McAfee or (b) check for & install Windows updates?

4A. do you see this truncation on the right when printing all messages in Windows Live Mail (WLMail) or only some?

  • Office Jet 6700 Premium: unable to print from 6700 JO unless I wake up

    Hello

The appellant here desperate because I cannot solve this ongoing problem.

    System set up:

    Office Office

    HP Office Jet 6700 premium

Wire in a BT Home Hub

    Laptop HP EVO, running wireless

    Problem:

I can no longer print the laptop wireless. I need to go to my office and print something. Then only the printer seems to be "awake", and then I can print from the laptop. As you can imagine this is not how it is supposed to be and this causes a lot of frustration.

The printer is also set for a static IP address (it was to solve other printing problems ). I also checked the firmware, and it is up to date.

Please tell us how to solve this problem.

    Thanking you in advance

    Wolfgang

    Hi @Klee66,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that your HP Office Jet 6700 Premium do not wake up when you print on it, unless you wake up before hand. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

There could be many reasons why this is happening, so please bear with me.

I see what your printer firmware is up to date, which is good.

    • Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.

Please try Fix It tool of Microsofts, solve printer problems.

You do not share the printer from the computer desktop you have in sharing files and printing? Otherwise, this could cause part of the problem.

Do you turn the printer power on and off?

I can't see what your printer is connected to the BT Hub with an ethernet cable.

It is possible that the laptop is connected to the printer cannot communicate on the 5.0 GHz network. If they are of the same name that will be confusing.

Have you tried to configure the wireless and no cable connection on the printer to see if it makes a difference?

How old is the router, have you also checked to see if the router firmware is up-to-date?

Is the router dual-band? Two networks are the same SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz? If so, change the SSID to 5.0 GHz to a different name and restart all devices.

What router do you have to BT?

I suggest you read this article by BT, I have problems of connection of 5 GHz and features dual band wireless BT Home Hub 4 or 5 Hub.

I see that you have setup a static IP address. It's a good idea to assign the printer a static IP address outside your DHCP range. For example, some routers default DHCP is located between 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. So, I would use 192.168.0.232.

While in SAP, open the network tab, and then select IPv4.

Set the manual DNS on the printer.

    • Set the primary DNS as 8.8.8.8
    • And the secondary DNS as 8.8.4.4

I would like to try the steps in this guide, HP printers - printer (Windows 8) "offline" Status Message.

  • all-in-one Deskjet 1515: do not print from MS word

My printer prints not MS word.it prints from all other programs except for ms word. Ive tried everything I could think, suggestions

    Hey @mangee,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I would like to help you today to solve the printing problem of Microsoft Word that you encounter when you try to print from your computer Windows 8.1 for the printer all-in-one HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515. Because you are able to print from all programs except one, I don't think that what you feel is a conflict driver on your computer Windows 8.1. To resolve this conflict, can I please have you perform the following steps.

    How to add another driver:

    1. Open your screen to Start by clicking the windows button in the lower left corner of your computer screen or by selecting the "Windows" button in the bottom left of your keyboard to the left of the Ctrl key
    2. In the screen type start "devices and printers
    3. If the option devices and printers automatically fills, click settings at the top right and then click on devices and printers.
    4. In the devices and printers folder right click on your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 and left click on printer properties
    5. Left click on the Advanced tab
    6. Left-click on new driver
    7. When the new driver window just press 'Next' until you see a list of manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
    8. Select HP as the manufacturer on the left
    9. DeskJet 9800 select the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 does appear to only select "Windows Update" at the bottom left and once the update is completed, you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
    10. After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit Next to complete the wizard driver new
    11. Under the printer properties window, select "Apply", but don't hit not OK
    12. Select the general tab
    13. Rename your printer HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 at
    14. Click OK
    15. Finally, right click on your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 one more time and click on Printing Preferences
    16. Left click on the paper/quality tab
    17. Left click on the drop down menu 'Normal' for quality printing at the bottom right and change its normal fast
    18. Press apply and OK

Now that the other pilot is successfully added to, please try to print the new Word.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hear from you!

  • HP Deskjet 3050 a-J611a - laptop wireless - wired desktop can print from it?

I just bought the HP Deskjet 3050 a-J611a and installed wireless on my laptop. (the printer is in another room) We also have a desktop computer (my daughter her room) which is connected to the internet with a cable. I was wondering if it would be possible to also print from the desktop without having to use a USB Wifi key wireless or something. (the modem is right next to the computer if preferred we'd leave it plugged)  Maybe there is a way to print using the modem connection? Thanks in advance

    Hi Michelle150573,

You can share the printer from the laptop, but the most reliable way to install it on the desktop would infest a USB wireless adapter and then install it wireless to his computer. Wireless USB adapters run from $ 10 to $ 30 on newegg.com
