  Windows 7 only WILL NOT allow you to share files without a password, it's all just a common sense safety requirement.  It of a very bad practice to run your Windows installations with a null value, a password, give your facility a valid password.

  The simplest around your problem is to create an account with the same names and passwords on each machine and so typed the password when the connection is too a problem allow AutoLogon on the machines.

  Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

  Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

  In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

  Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

  Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

  E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

  F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.   OS X Firewall is done in System Preferences > Security. Click the lock to make changes, and then click the Advanced button to ensure that SMB sharing is allowed. If you set up in the share pod, it will be.

  On Win7, create shares as desired. I usually just share the Public, users desktop folder and all hard drives of additional data in the system. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  I have a set up working groups between Windows 7 and Windows XP computers.  I don't usually have a problem of file sharing, but suddenly XP computers do not connect to the server from Windows 7.  It will work for a while and then stops.  In order to solve this problem, I have to restart the server from Windows 7.  However, this problem occurs more and more and I would have preferred to find a permanent solution.  I checked all the normal solutions (IE firewall, no passwords, etc.), but I still have this problem.  I'm sure that all my settings are correct, as I am able to connect most of the time, but I know that there must be a solution out there to fix it permanently.

They can change the files and everything seems to be fine, but when you try to shut down the mac, the system never end closing, even after waiting until the next morning. Only way to stop this force turned off. Someone at - it an idea, how do I solve the problem?

  I have 2 computers ethernet under XP Home SP3.  They are of type ethernet connected behind a router wireless Airllink 101 a Vista laptop is connected on the wireless (the Vista laptop cannot access files either).  At the same time as I had a third ethernet PC connected without SP and I was able to access his files for at least one of the other PCs.  I tired remove firewalls (temp) and Virus check without success.  In the network section, I can see the computers and shared files on the PC but when I try to open directories is said I can't have permission to use this network resource.  Memory: server to process this command.  Server?  Here is the esentiallly peer computers back-to-back.  I have 50 + GB on each PC.  I believe that this has happened after that I installed SP2 or SP3.

  It works for the other connections on this machine.  So, with the worries of shrinking to s/o the origin of the problem,

  I saved my files and re-created a new account.  The new account works fine, so I deleted the old account.

  I really don't know why this has happened given I have not installed the brand new s/w recently.

  I encounter another problem which seems to be related to the fingerprint software. If I install the software, no issue arises. Once I register the fingerprints, the system slows down. Same clang of the other computers in the domain, in that I am, the response slows down gradually and then fails several times, before becoming inaccessible.

  Then as Exlopre crashes after a while. If I can stop the command, it hangs at the screen bright blue vista saying "logout". Then, the only way to turn off the computer is by holding down the power button.

  I log back in again once, unregister the fingerprint and all works well.
