Sharing files on home network - Vista Home Premium 32 and 64

Hello people,

I searched for hours, I made countless different steps to try to understand this point, and yet I'm still far away.
I have two computers on my home network.
-Machine 1 is Vista Home Premium 32-bit and is connected via a wired connection to my NetGear router.
-Machine 2 is Vista Home Premium 64-bit and is connected via a Wireless connection to my NetGear router.
I have a WD WorldBook connected to the Machine 1 via USB and I would like to be able to access it through my home network on Machine 2.
Here are my settings that may be useful to know.
Machine 1:
-Cable
-Network: NotURInterwebs (private network)
-Working Group: DISCOVERY
-The discovery of the network: WE
-File sharing: WE
-Public folder sharing: OFF
-Printer sharing: OFF
-Password protected sharing: WE
-Media Sharing: OFF
Machine 2:
-Wireless
-Network: NotURInterwebs (private network)
-Working Group: DISCOVERY
-The discovery of the network: WE
-File sharing: WE
-Public folder sharing: OFF
-Printer sharing: OFF
-Password protected sharing: WE
-Media Sharing: OFF
If I go into start-> network on the Machine 2 I see the other computer and the router, but when I click on the Machine 1 I get the following text:
Windows cannot access \\Machine#
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there could be a problem with your network. In an attempt to identify and solve network problems, click on diagnose.
Error code: 0 x 80070035
The network path was not found.
However, when I go to start-> network on computer 1 and click on Machine 2, I have no problem connecting.
Does anyone have an ideas that could help me understand what is happening?
Thank you!

Hello

Thanks for the detailed information.

We need additional information to help you with the problem, please answer the following.

What antivirus application do you use?

I suggest to change firewall security settings, or disable the security software on the system and try to access the location.

Method 1:

Disable the firewall on the Machine 1 and check the status of the issue.

Enable or disable Windows Firewall

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Note: You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.

Note: In addition to a firewall, you must also be an antivirus and anti-malware program to help protect your computer. Install Microsoft Security Essentials or another antivirus and anti-malware program and update it. Many of these programs update automatically.

Method 2:
Error code 0 x 80070035 indicates that the network path was not found. This problem occurs if the NetBIOS over TCP IP is not enabled in Windows Vista. Please follow the steps below.

(a) click on «Start», enter "NCPA. CPL"(without the quotes) and press ENTER.

(b) right click on the connection you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".

(c) click on the button continue to check the permission of the administrator.

(d) click to select 'Protocol Internet Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and then click 'properties '.

(e) click on the button "Advanced" in the opened window. On the "WINS" tab, select 'Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP' and then click 'OK' to save the setting.

The following article presents NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

    Hello

It s no vista for free and legally download

with an acer you never drives with him press Alt + F10 when you see the Acer start at startup screen

who should begin the process of recovery back to factory settings

Acer has do provide you with a way to reinstall vista, either way or a recovery (Alt + F10) on your disk partition hard or using recovery discs

    and read this:

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

  • I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit (Home Premium update) and I want to re - install Windows but in 64-bit. Will I still have Ultimate

I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit (Home Premium update) and I want to re - install Windows but in 64-bit. Will I still have Ultimate?

I'm going to re - install from 32 to 64-bit via the loader of windows recovery.
This computer has asked ma to install 32 or 64 bit when I first turned on, I chose 32, but now I want to 64.

It depends on. Is the license of Windows 7 Ultimate, a full version license or upgrade, or upgrade Express?

If its an Express upgrade license, you will need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, then make the Express Windows 7 upgrade Ultimate edition using the Express upgrade key, you have.

If you have a Windows 7 Ultimate full retail or upgrade version license, you can simply by using the 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate disc and do a custom Setup on the current installation of 32-bit.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Migration to Vista Home Premium programs and files for Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi guys, I just want to know if there's no possibilities

to migrate from installed programs and files in my Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate

    --------------------------------

Also if I have Vista Home Premium should I switch to Windows 7 Home Premium too. I want to Windows 7 Ultimate!

    Hello

You can upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium or ultimate; the choice is yours.

«Compare the editions of Windows 7»

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/compare

If you go from Vista 32 bit Home Premiun 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, you can do an inplace upgrade.

The same goes for Vista 64 bit for Windows 7 64-bit

This will keep your programs and data intact.

But ALWAYS make a backup of data when you perform this type of work on your computer.

"How to do an Installation of upgrade Inplace of Vista to Windows 7"

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/1818-upgrade-install-Windows-7-a.html

And before you buy Windows 7 read and check to see if your computer is able to use Windows 7 to its best advantage:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    See you soon.

p.s. If you want from 32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit, upgrade facilities are not available.

You will need to do a clean install.

  • W7 mobile licenses autour. Home Premium, Ultimate, and vice versa

    Hi people,

I want to create a server at home with Windows Home Server 2011. I already have the drive (retail trade, not OEM)
The machine, I would like to dedicate for the server is a Dell currently running W7 Ultimate Tower.
I want to connect 3 laptop computers to my network. One is running W7 Ultimate (upgrade from W7HP details), the other two are under W7 Home Premium.
Ideally, I would like to recover the W7 Ultimate for Dell Tower prior to installation of WHS2011 and use it on one of the laptops running W7HP.
What is the best way to achieve this?

I would also change the W7U of your laptop to another, so my most recent computers have W7U and older a W7HP.
Am I just complicate things for myself or y at - it an easy way to juggle the licenses.
(All software are legitimate of course)

    UPDATE:
THANKS FOR THE REPLIES! Gather a clear roadmap.

The Dell came with VistaHP as indicated by the COA. However, there may be a problem with the W7U on another computer. The origin of this computer is a friend who works for Microsoft (who also does the disc WHS2011). The drive has been thorougly erased, and he put W7U on it. It downloaded as an ISO from the internal Microsoft network he engraved on a DVD. It is therefore neither OEM, DVP or retail, but has the words use at home on this subject. I don't know the terms of this program. I don't know if this means for employees for their domestic use only, or if it means a copy for employees who must be used for home use but not limited to employee originally. Of course, I want to be able to use it legitimately. Is anyone know about this program?

There is no version of 'detail' of WHS, although generally available the intention was that the software would be provided to end users with the material.

On the issue of the displacement of the licenses around it all comes down to what was shipped with the computer. If a license has been provided with a computer, it cannot be transferred, this can be confirmed by checking the original label of the COA attached to the computer.

If an upgrade has been purchased separately from the initial purchase of the computer, then that can be transferred.

So if all computers involved in this Exchange around was initially supplied with Windows 7 Ultimate which must remain on the computer.

It is not the radiation process so all you can do is to downgrade a computer previously upgraded to its original charge and then use this license to upgrade the one you want to use the license. If it passes automatic authentication while it is OK, and if for some time that the last time that he has been authenticated, he could well make. If it is rejected, then you will need call the authentication, to hold the line no response until an operator is online and confirm the details of what you are doing. They will want to verify that the originating computer has been restored.

  • HP dm4-3099se with Windows 7 Home Premium format and would like to re - install Home Premium

My laptop is HP Pavilion dm4-3099se and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium. The password was lost and I was advised to format the system. The system has been formatted (all disks have been removed except for drive C :) and an OS from Windows 8 pro installed. Shortly after the formatting, found the lost password. If possible, I'd like to go back to the operating system supplied with the system (i.e. window Home Premium) and also get all the drivers provided with the system.

    Please, help me.

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Also, if possible, back up the folder swsetup which lie at the root of the C drive.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source (Digital River).

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Regarding the drivers etc, you must, if you were able to save the swsetup this will contain all the software installers and drivers for your laptop - if you were not able, drivers and software, you may need can be found here.
