I have a Dell Inspiron desktop on windows xp computer. I just plugged by ether net to a Linksys E200 wireless router. I was able to get my wife to recognize the router's cell phone and take the line with two computers (desktop via ether net, wireless laptop). My problem is: I can't do both at the network as a whole if I can use the office as a shared print server (USB Canon Mp170 printer). I am licensed and cannot afford to buy a wireless printer just for the laptop, so I would like to make this work. I tried the dell networking tool, I tried windows networking and they are not "see each other... any ideas?

    Hello

You must configure the printers to share on the XP computer and install the drivers for the printer as a network printer on other computers using the correct version for each computer.

    To set up sharing system.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

If you have authorization and security problems, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . There must be specific users. All means all users who already have an account now as users. This does not mean everyone who feel they would like to connect.

  • Printer LaserJet 4100: Should which cable I for Laserjet 4100 connected to the laptop with USB port

I have the HP Laserjet 4100 printer. I bought a new laptop with USB ports.  What type of printer cable I need to connect the printer to my laptop? Is there some kind of printer cable adapter, or something else that will do the trick?

I have the same question about my HP Laserjet 1100 printer.

Thanks in advance for your assistance expected.

If I remember correctly, the 1100 uses a cable "C", alias MicroCentronics.  Have never seen an adapter for that one.  On the 4100, you can get a USB to parallel adapter.  They are pretty cheap and available at most CESS (Consumer Electronics Super Store) as Best Buy.  Staples and OfficeMax/Office Depot should also wear.  Online is cheaper if you have time to wait.

The thing with these USB converters is often must 'install' the cable first.  In other words, connect it to the laptop, then wait so he could install, then connect the printer.  Depending on your operating system and if you have correct updates that can be almost instantaneous, and you may not even see it pop on the screen.

Best idea is that since these are obviously not portable machines, connect them to your router via a network card.  I had the 1100 years and used a cheap 170 X.  I know most recent are available which are faster.

For the 4100, see if you can retrieve a Jet Direct 620 unit on eBay.  Probably less than $50 and sometimes even as little as $25.  Stay away from the 600, 510 or 615 cards.  Low or as the 600, they can leave your network open to hackers.  No need to get Gigabit cards as they will be well above what the 4100 can handle.

Now, two of these old devices, processing power and memory can be a problem.  Never try to print documents online.  Save them on your laptop, and then print.  You will probably get communication errors if you print directly from IE or FireFox.

If the 1100 does not die, not even worth fixing.  Put into a Fuser is a nightmare.  The 4100 will probably work for another 20 years if you keep to clean and replace the rolls before they cause jams.

  • 3520, printer all-in-one will not connect wireless

I am running Lion on my Mac. The printer works correctly when it is connected by the USB cable. The test of the printer indicates the wireless connection is OK. But when the cable is disconnected, my computer does not find the printer so I can't print wirelessly. The computer says it is plugged into the same ID wireless. I tried to reinstall the HP software to no success. Very frustrating that the printer was working wireless for a year with no problems. It just stopped during the night. Thanks for any help you can provide... Ted

    Hi TED1234,

There is a chance that the HP software that came with the printer may not work with your version of Lion. I recommend to download the installation here:
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Al-103382-2&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4114&product=5162506&sw_lang=

After you download the driver, I recommend trying to follow the steps listed in the method three second-stage for OS x 10.7 Lion. In step 2 of the second method, there are 2 options. According to what is invited on your Mac, you will want to follow the instructions for the appropriate option.

Please specify the details of your installation if this does not resolve your problems of wireless configuration. If you encounter error messages, please note them here and attach a screenshot of your laptop. You can take screenshots by pressing "Control + shift + 4" and the screenshot will automatically record your desktop.

    Thank you.

  • I am unable to remote desktop to connect to my laptop

First of all, I looked through all the troubleshooting options on the microsoft page for troubleshooting remote desktop connection. None of these options worked for me. Even turning the firewall for my laptop worked. My laptop can remote access my office perfectly find it's just the reverse does not work.
I think the problem is that I can't put my laptop to allow connections. My laptop home premium windows 7 don't have any remote desktop options in the "remote" of System Properties tab. I'm trying to access remotely to this laptop, but I am unable to probably for that reason. When I go to the Remote tab in system properties, all I see is a box for remote assistance and nothing on it as on my desktop, where it shows remote access options.
Is there any solution for this?

You have read obviously not what I wrote.

I actually did, but obviously, you thought that the respondents have the x-ray vision. "You wrote" ""first of all, I looked through all the troubleshooting options on the microsoft page troubleshooting remote desktop connection ' , but then you did not designate one page you may have consulted.

As long as illustrative, I would say that you did not know that Windows 7 Home Premium machines cannot be the target of a remote desktop session. You need at least the professional version.

  • Unable to print - Officejet J5780 all-in-One, connected to the laptop USB

I bought a HP all-in-one Officejet J5780 in 2008 and all this year I started having problems printing. I am a student online so I need to print assignment or documents related to the class of my laptop, or make other personal business which involves an impression. I connect the printer to my laptop with a USB port. I have Windows 7 Edition home premium on my laptop. When I bought the printer, I used it with another laptop with Vista. Last year, I bought a laptop.

I'm going to open a document, click on print, a box will appear as if sending information to the printer, and then nothing happens. The file is located in the print queue whose status is empty. Sometimes stop the printer and re - start, it would start printing once reconnected. But no more. Sometimes if I start my printer first, let it sit, start my laptop, let it sit a bit, connect the USB cable, let them rest a bit, then try to print it will work. But it is rare now. Sometimes if I am performing a repair online it suddenly started working. But it becomes harder and harder.

I guess I need to new drivers or something, but I don't know which ones to download from HP. This new laptop does not recognize the printer software disk came with.

I try to start printing HP and doctor Scan and it detects my printer at the start, but at the next step, it does not, said that it can not be connected. I can print an alignment page or test page.

Or is it time for a new printer?

I know that is not the USB port on the laptop, because I used the plug with other types of USB cables and everything works. I was wondering if the printer USB cable is bad or corroded the output on the printer itself. I bought a new USB cable and tried. The printer has been detected, updated drivers, and until now it works fine.

  • Adapter Dell computerwith Windows 7 and Intel Core 13 seems not to be working-how can I fix and connect wireless?

I have a new Dell laptop, but that was the computer see in John Lewis.  It does not seem to connect to the wireless router, or if this is the case it is very tempermental.  Often, even if my laptop trying to get wireless, the router will then stopped and must be restarted.  Troubleshooting problem gives thinking than the 'Intel wireless adapter is not found' or 'wireless network is found. "

I would be really grateful if anyone knew how to fix this?  It would be great to be able to use wireless...

    Thanks in advance

If the modem/router be found which might tend to suggest a problem with this unit and not the PC.

The router is not stop by itself, you need to press a reset on the router, if available, or physically disconnect the power.

In any case JL, generally provide a warranty of two years

  • Printer appears online in devices and printers, but in offline mode in the print dialog box

After I plugged an inkjet printer from Canon iP4000 in my computer running Windows 7 SP 1 Ultimate 64 - bit edition, the printer is displayed correctly in devices and printers as a printer online but appears offline in print dialog common used by applications.

Sometimes, I am able to print despite the problem, but as a general rule, the monitoring software will say that the printer does not Canon.

In addition, a WiFi adapter sometimes loses the WiFi connection and is unable to find all the networks.

    Tried many things:

    • Uninstall of the printer
    • Manually clearing print jobs
    • Reset
    • Unplug the printer from a USB hub and connect directly to a USB port on the monitor

I can not easily plug the printer to the computer directly because of the locations of the case of the printer and the computer. I tried to connect the printer directly to my ThinkPad and the printer does work very well in this situation.

This who can I try to do at this point?

    > modifications

N ° the problem occurs even after a new installation of Windows.

    > wired / wireless

    Wired

I already tried all 4 of the links.

The printer is dead and the 'solution' is to Canon printer in an electronic recycler so buy a Brother laser printer that takes in charge of wireless network.

  • Can I run CS6 on the desktop and CS5 on laptop at the same time?

First of all, let me start by saying that I am a small business owner. I'm at work between 10 to 16 hours a day, every day. I have very little time in my life that I'm not sitting at my desk main macintosh, unless I SLEEP.

All my my work files on my desktop in CS5. I intend to continue to use CS5 to all working files for now. I bought only CS6 to backsave.

But I want to LEARN CS6 and work slowly in before making a sudden or dramatic change.

I want to turtorials, and go through the CS6 curve on my laptop. He finds peacfully beside me, every day. No downtime, I can play, learn and experiment. Without fear of doing any harm to my CS5 files or my mac of main production.

If I try to run CS5 on the desktop and CS6 on the laptop, at the same time - they CALL HOME, STOP, FREEZE, LOCK UP, or and send me, in any form and to ADOBE PRISON or ABUSE CENTER?

  • Desktop computer connected via a cable to a wireless router - can't print on Photosmart Wireless B109n-z

    Hello

I have my desktop (Windows XP) connected via a cable to a LinkSys WRT54GC wireless router and wireless HP Photosmart B109n-z connected wireless. I can 'see' desktop printer if I write the IP address of the printer in the browser, but printing does not work.

I don't know how to set up the printer to print from this desktop computer. What I choose when installing printer drivers (printing via USB or wireless?). I tried manually installing printer but without success. Do I have to set up specific ports?

Printing from laptop (connected wireless to the router) works perfectly.

Thank you in advance for your answer, I'm really lost on this one.

Choose print wireless while installing the software.  Because the printer is connected to your router, you don't need to go through «setup USB wireless»

I'll try to manually add again in this way:

Verify that you can access the web page internal to the printer by its IP address.

    1. click on the 'Start' button--> printers and fax machines.
    2. under print jobs, click on "add a printer".
    3. click on 'Next' on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "local printer attached to this computer. Deselect "automatically detect and install my Plug and play printer." Click "next".
5 under, select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next".
    6. in the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port Wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to the same network that your computer is connected to. click on the button "next".
    7. under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the IP address of the printer. Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish '.
    8. now select HP in the manufacturers list, select your printer in the list of the models of printers and click the button "next".
    9. If you can't find your printer, you will need to find the installation CD and use the 'Disc' option to select one of the files hp*.ini. You can also select another model of the same type HP printer.
    10. Add the name of print spooler, and then click "next".
    11. click on "next".
    12. click on "Next" and "Finish."
