She launched 'System Restore' now the computer will not complete the installation

Clean HP Pavilion bought in 2003.  With the help of daughter for school work.  Computer running very slow.  A ran all the relevant boxes virus / malware scans, the old deleted files ' ran fix disk, disk cleanup and defrag, still running slow.  A ran the 'System Restore' edge (press F10 during boot).  It works through the restore program and sit as I just opened the box.  Through the implementation of procedures and click Finish and it is just there for up to 6 hours before I finally gave up.

Oh Dear Brian, I hope there is no data file on the computer, you will need in the future. The F10 key is the path to the system recovery that restores the computer to the factory settings. It comes to the computer when it was bought new in 2003. It erases all the data files and installed programs from the drive. In other words, you start again:

  • You had to do a system restore, now my windows will not update

    I had problems with the 10 of Windows Update causing a blue error screen permanently.  I tried to do a "reboot of the PC" to correct the error and it would not be completed even when left for 2 days.  I finally had to restart my computer and press f8 to not get stuck in the Windows Update screen.  With no system and no other available option, it was suggested to me to do a restore of complete factory restore points.

    I did the restore and now I have even more questions.  My windows update does not work, I update of windows troubleshooting, but it does not work and my computer says always "looking for updates" and updates are never downloaded.

    My fan is running continuously since I did the restore to factory, and my CPU usage is 75 to 90%, even if I did not open any programs.  Norton told me that Microsoft is responsible for the high CPU usage, but I don't know what to do about it, because I obviously don't want to disable Microsoft.  I'm not sure how to upgrade my Windows at 10, or if I'm still able to now...  Which sucks since I had to do due to the problems caused by Windows 10 programming initially.

    Another update of the issues, I got zero problem with a feature of my computer before resetting.  Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    (Moved to programs)

    Solved my problem by running the restore of the system in safe mode.  This problem was caused by a Microsoft update that plays well with Windows 7 - it put an end to all parts of Windows troubleshooting and caused this problem of system restore.  I suspect that it also created some havoc with Silverlight too.  So, before launching system restore I changed the way I let Microsoft give me updates - now they can download, but not unless I let them.  Of course, I have absolutely no way of knowing what updates to install and which not to install, I think that I will not install anything unless I 'hear' some chitter-chatter on the net something.

  • "System Restore" on my computer does not work. Also, I can't create a (error 0 x 80042308)

    Thank you very much.

    Well, looks like we found the problem.

    The hard drive is a failure. You need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system using HP recovery support.

    You can continue to use it as - is now, but it will continue to get slower and experience of mistakes random until it just don't dΘmarre yet.

    In any case, I recommend back you up important data (photos, documents, etc.) so that you don't lose.

  • Installation: Windows Vista Service Pack 2... Now my computer will not boot

    After you install SP2, my computer starts is no longer.

    When I turn it on, it brings me to a black screen where I can choose to start windows normally or let windows search for a solution to the problem. I tried both - NOTHING WORKS.

    I tried to restore my computer to an earlier date, let windows search for a solution, everything you can possibly do on the options list. Whenever I have let windows start normally, it brings me to a black screen that says "!" 0 x 0000034! "177/76190 (_0000000000000000.cdf - ms).

    I am extremely frustrated. It seems that Microsoft has ruined my computer. Looks like I'm about to become a defender-apple... Unless this issue is resolved as soon as possible.

    Have you tried the system restore, without success.

    See if that will fix your problem:

    Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Update Service Pack 2 is not installed, now my computer will not boot

    Hello. I recently tried to install the service pack 2 update on my computer. It did not installed. My computer is slow, so I tried restarting. It came with the screen that shows the updates are being installed. I kept the computer until it stops. When I turned it back on it would go to this same screen but with a message saying that the service pack was not installed correctly and that the computer is reverting changes. It will turn on / off power permanently. In an attempt to fix it, I managed to get in the log on screen and put in my password, but the minute I hit enter my computer started and closed the loop on endless. Anyone know what I can do?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358/en-AU

    "Configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"error when you try to install Windows updates

    The above lists some options including restoration/repair of the etc system.

  • My computer will not complete the update

    I've updated my computer tonight and after the reboot. Until I can connect the "configuration of updates: stage 3 of 3" came, as usual, but this time he remained at 0% for a few seconds and then the computer restarted again. It always restarted it self shot 10 times until I forced to close. Cannot start without failure or something.

    What should I do?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
  • I accidentally hit start diagnosis when I was in msconfig and now my computer will not go back to a normal startup
    I tried to close some startup programs in msconfig and key to start diagnosis and now my computer don't return to normal startup,
    Try this:
    Start | Run | Msconfig | OK | Law tab
    Select Normal startup
    Click on apply and OK.
    Reset.
    For later use, there are methods generally better than using msconfig to prevent programs from running automatically at startup. Generally it is best to run the actual program and then enter the preferences to do this.
    I could not to update to the latest version of Firefox for several months that I'm still on OS 10.4, however at least previous update messages were smart enough to not make me download something that I could not run. Today, however, updated and then could not even open Firefox, indicating he could not run on my version of software. Now I have to try to find an old version of firefox, but I'm completely lost - I use an older version, think I had saved on my computer at the moment, but it is outdated compared to what I was using before your "update" undid all my previous updates that had updated me as I could be on my system , and now my modules will not race or anything like that.     Because Fx3.6 receives no security updates, you should probably consider an OS upgrade or a browser change at some point.
    the windows system restore feature is a very important system.
    and if it is defective or failed in some way, then this may be a sign that your whole system could be damaged or unstable.
    what you can try is execution of the system via safe mode restore.
    If this does not work yet, so the next step is to move your personal files, documents, photos and send boxes out of the system because the following methods that will help restore your system can put your personal files safe.
    so after trying safe mode stage and or copy your personal files from the system, we can take the next steps.
    Incidentally, if your computer came pre-installed with windows, or you halographic disc of microsoft for the operating system?
