I have an application that I want to talk through \\server\dir\app.exe, and has default directory \\server\dir

I make a shortcut to it and save it on the desktop.

When I right click on this icon, I see no option to "pin to taskbar" or "pin to start menu. When I click on the other icons, I see these options.

Is it possible to pin to the taskbar, a shortcut to an application on \\server\dir\app.exe? I wouldn't really define a drive letter.

    Connect a network drive

-On the client, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the \\server > \directory right-click and select map network drive

-Select a drive letter > click Finish

Code calculator pin to the taskbar

-Click Start > all programs > Accessories > calculator right click > select PIN to the taskbar

    * These next steps are all completed in the taskbar folder

-Open Windows Explorer and navigate to: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

    Change the location request target

Locate the pinned program (Calculator) in this folder.

-Right click on the program > select Properties

I can't find my icons for different websites I've pinned to the taskbar, like facebook.

The taskbar is resizable, like a window, and it can be set to zero
lines of ups. Maybe that's your problem, and fixing must be the
first thing you should try. You may have accidentally resized to
zero lines of ups. Place the cursor on the bottom of the screen and pass
it upward and down slightly until it turns into a two-headed arrow.
Click on, and then drag it to the desired size.

If this does not work, it may be zero lines high on another facet of the
the screen, try the above on all four sides.

Finally, if none of those working, go to

Taskbar, click on taskbar is missing.

  • Problems of reorganization of the items pinned in the recent Articles from applications menu pinned to the taskbar

    Hello

Recently I encountered the following problem, for which I can't understand a solution. I have some programs such as Excel and Word pinned to the taskbar, and my most frequently used documents are pinned on the list of recent items of each of these programs (so I mean not the newest items on the start menu menu, but those pinned applications).

For more than a year, pinned reorganization points on the upper half has functioned well. In recent weeks, however, the reorganization has unexpected results: say there are, B and C and D made the pinned menu recent Articles of Word in that order. When I try to drag the C between A and B, C will be displayed before. Similarly, when you try to drag between C and D B, B will be the last element.

You, guys, a tip on how work this autour? I guess some kind of "reset" of this feature would be useful, it seems that something was stuck that wouldn't have to be pasted. If it's a browser, I would say that to clean temporary files. Is there something like that, what could I do?

    What I tried:

    * Detach all the elements of the word, and then start again pinning. No change.

    * Menu set start to not maintain a list of recent items, then activated this option. No change.

    * Searched my docs of the user and the registry for a list of the added items. Thought to find a folder of links asc:\Users\Launch\User Pinned\ \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick , but I only found a registry key that looks like containing all these elements in a key chain with some additional data, so that I wasn't not dare delete this reg value enough.

(Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, English version)

    Looking forward to your advice.

    EM

In fact a solution has been found in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/officeversion_other-word/list-of-recent-documents-not-showing-up-in-task/8f63be2f-67b0-463e-995e-8274adefdcbe, and it works.

For me, the name of the file to be deleted in the %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations was 9839aec31243a928.automaticDestinations - ms, but the name can be an id and opposed on various systems.

The best is to find your file reorganize everything, PIN or detach a file in Excel, or just to open and close a file and then search for the file with the most recent date any time. All the operations described, I suppose, will modify the corresponding file, so all you need to do after this is to sort files by date, to find and remove the latest file, and you can start re-adding pinned items to Excel.

  • How to get Windows Explorer to pin to the taskbar

    Problem:

When I right click on Windows Explorer to get pinned and there is no element entrance does forr it pin to the taskbar OR the StartMenu , like most of the other applications in the my system.

I was able to do on my system to my office, so I know that this is possible.  I got it made the pinned the system now have the problem, that is up to the Microsoft has eliminated the last fixes on Saturday 21 September 12 game that wacked my entire task bar, bar side and scrogged many other aspects of my system!

I really hope that they actually only has finally fixed the leak of security IE forever with this patch as they promised and not just Fubar-ing of many systems to give the appearance of shutter makes the run with more than one finger! (but that too can depend on which finger gets referenced as I can think that a my system seems to have understood).

That being said, let's start by skipping the usual diatribe of suggestions of neophytes who Parrot just what is on both boards, blogs and other forums with what I remember, try to address my situation:

    • I tried to drag links "Windows Explorer" and shortened to Windows Explorer to get the fallen on the toolbar.  No go!
    • I tried all the suggestions of registry to Windows Explorer PIN to the taskbar. No go!
    • I searched the registry for any key with PIN or NOPIN on their behalf and found Nothing. Although the PIN search revealed several keys and values with pin drowned in (e.g.ping stri"," myPINing "", Snapine","OfficeVBAHelpinetlHiddenIntl_1033", nausea etc. to height of 3114 hits ad).

But know the FUBAR occurred, does anyone have the best ideas on how to fix the problem with Windows Explorer so that I can once again pin it to my task bar and maybe my StartMenu too?

Use search programs and files "windows explorer". When you right click on the link that there it will give you options to pin the taskbar icon or the start menu.

  • SimplePass update, icon now always made the pinned to the taskbar

On my laptop dv6t, I let the software auto-updated to HP install what he wanted to update. After he did, an icon associated with Simplepass is pinned to the taskbar and I can't get rid of it.  Right click and select 'Unpin this program from the taskbar' do nothing.  How can I get rid of him. I want to keep the program. But don't want the icon pinned to the taskbar.

Then, when I opened Microsoft Excel, he said that a material change has been detected and I have to re - activate. Why would this happen?  How can I keep it from happening. Is it better to just never leave HP update anything?

I tried something in the sense of what aperez1221 suggested, and it seems to be an acceptable solution. I wasn't sure what you mean by ' unchecking the pass simple site.»  So I opend SimplePass and entered parameters.  I unchecked everything under "activate features and then tried to re - check one by one.  I have determined that only LaunchSite deactivating solves the problem and seems to leave the programme of work as it did before.  So thank you aperez1221 for pointing me in the right direction.

I don't know what I'm missing out on by disabling LaunchSite.  This solution may not work for anyone who uses the features enabled by LaunchSite. I did not understand what are these features. Seems like QuickLaunch, which allows me to drag a finger to open a program or a web site (in a new browser window). And I can still connect to websites using my finger as well.  Thus, with only disabled LaunchSite, SimplePass plans what he did before and no longer repinned himself to the taskbar.

I left that open for now in case someone has a solution that requires no LaunchSite, regardless of disabling that does.

  • How Power pin to the taskbar?

Currently, if I want to stop, I have first to move my mouse to the upper right of the screen to bring up the bar, then click settings, then click on Power which shows a stop options, restart and sleep. Power can be pinned to the taskbar (or one of the other points in the settings)?

    Hello

There is no option to pin the power to the taskbar setting, but as a workaround, you can create a shortcut for "Shutdown" and "Restart" and PIN the shortcut to the taskbar. To create a shortcut, see the following steps:

    (a) an open space on the desktop with the right mouse button, point to new, and then click shortcut.

    (b) to create a shortcut to turn off the computer, type in ' stop/p "(sans les guillemets)."

    (c) click on 'Next', type a name for the shortcut.

    (d) click on "Finish".

Once the shortcut created, right-click on it and select "Pin to Taskbar". You can also change the icon of the shortcut. To do this, refer to the following steps:

    (a) right-click on the shortcut and select "Properties".

    (b) under the 'Shortcut' tab, click on 'change icon '.

    (c) select the icon that you want, and then click 'Ok' to apply the changes.

    (d) click on 'Ok' to close the Properties window.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • How to rename the bookmarks pinned to the taskbar?

    Firefox 18.0

I have a few bookmarks pinned to the taskbar. They show the URL of the link, not the name of the bookmark. For example; in my menu bookmarks, I have a bookmark named "hotmail", but when I pin in the Firefox icon in the taskbar, it appears as https://login.live.com.

How to rename or get it to show the same name as the menu drop-down?

Step 1: Create a bookmark to the URL in firefox with the name you want.
Step 2: Drag the bookmark on the desktop (it can create it with the IE icon)
Step 3: Drag the icon to the icon of firefox pinned in the taskbar. This should pin the URL in firefox with the name. It will be useful.

I am trying to pin to the taskbar in windows 7, the search box. Is this possible?

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day * smile *.

There is no such under Windows 7 deskbar search, because it is moved in the start menu.  At any time, you want to search, just press the Windows Logo on your keyboard, then start typing.  The result is the same as Windows Desktop Search.

If it was useful, you can vote by clicking on the green triangle. If it solves the problem, click on propose as answer. Thank you!

I am running Windows Ultimate 32 bit. I have a quick notification window pop up frequently, and it is just an unreadable flash on the taskbar notification area.

This is lightening fast and as I said, it cannot be read because it's so fast. I ran Windows Defender, SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes Anti-malware full scan with Norton Internet Security and Microsoft Security Scan and nothing came. Cannot know what is happening. Any ideas?

    Hello Chris,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have any questions, an error on the taskbar.

I would like to know some information about this problem to help you better.

    (1) you remember changes recently in the computer?

    (2) have you noticed if the pop-up appears only when access to a particular application?

In the meantime, you can try to follow the following suggestions to solve the problem.

Step 1: See the link to start in safe mode to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services to check if the popup appears in safe mode.

    Startup options (including safe mode).

Step 2: If you are able to use the computer without pop ups in safe mode, I suggest you perform the clean boot because your system in a clean boot state can identify if all parties third party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot. See the link to perform the clean boot.

How do I perform a boot in Windows

Note: See "How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair .

In addition, open the link and follow the instructions to get the event logs, so that we can see which application is defective.

    Hello

I've set up some computers for some users, and I would like to disable their ability to rearrange the order of the programs I've pinned to the taskbar.

This isn't a feature that has been programmed into the operating system, sorry.

  • Whenever I start the system complains that the following files are missing, c:\\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe, igftray.exe and hkcmd.exe.

    Original title: files missing error

Whenever I start the system complains that the following files are missing, c:\\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe, igftray.exe and hkcmd.exe. Everything started after I ran scan and scan deleted some files infected. However, I can use the system. Where and how to download the missing files? Or how the system does not deliver messages?

    Simon

Two of the three files are probably part of the malware infection and not the files infected. The third is probably the same details in this link:
    http://www.Runscanner.NET/file/Hkcmd.exe.html

To identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).
    http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig. You will find the three points and they will have a description 'file is missing' against everyone. Your antivirus software has removed the files, but not the startup entries in the registry. All you need to do is delete the entry using Autoruns to eliminate the error messages.

Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.
