shortcuts sometimes disappear

Sometimes at startup that my games shortcut icons are not displayed on the desktop, so I have to reinstall.

Hello

1. what operating system is installed on your computer?

2. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

3. it happens with all the icons of any particular icon or shortcut?

I suggest you try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to run fix it from the link below:

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows/en-us

Method 2: If the problem persists, then try to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click on start toreduce this top that i, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

(b) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(c) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

Method 3:

Try to scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Hope this information is useful.

  • Why e/mails, that I write sometimes disappear completely without warning and are never recoverable in drafts or anywhere else?

This seems to happen with frequency more and more. I wrote an e-mail/or responding to one, and sometimes if I made a mistake in typing, a gong as noise is heard. A few times I can solve the error, sometimes everything I work on everything disappears and is irretrievable. Very frustrating. A few times my typing disappears with no error or anything else. They just disappear from the screen. WHY?

If the Bell is here the same hear, it's because you type not where you think you are. I'm what might be best described as a bad typist. I'm looking at the keys. So I'm typing away and hear a missing. This sound means generally as I pressed alt (or CTRL) and triggered a sequence of keyboard commands that went until I entered something invalid (where the gong), but to get there I could have typed 5 other commands that were valid by accident. Usually, when I look at the icon to the left of the screen is highlighted and sometimes the menu it contains is displayed. You, I assume that the success of the different keys for me and managed to close the window.

I use this add-on from https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/index-en.html#recDelMsg , that it adds an entry to restore to the contextual right click menu that retrieves these missing projects, I create when I accidentally close as I type.

  • Satellite L355 - S7900 PSLD8U: WLan sometimes disappears

I searched this forum and found a similar thread (unresolved) on the adapter wireless getting dropped from the Device Manager.

    The laptop is a (big BJ) Satellite L355-S7900 PSLD8U-07G01E model # L355-S7900
    Vista Home Premium

    Wireless adapter is Atheros AR5007EG

Randomly (usually after sitting for a period), the wireless adapter disappears from everywhere, including the Device Manager.
I can go to programs and features and reinstall and it works fine until the next time, sometimes days. Then repeat.

The connection appears in the network and sharing Center & the signal strength is excellent.
This light on the chassis is orange. I think remember it to be green.

This machine had a virus some time ago, I have got rid from Combofix and haven't seen any problems since, except this.
I downloaded and installed a new wireless driver but it didn't help.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

It s not easy to say that that is the reason why, for this, but in your case would start to update the BIOS. You can check it on the Web from Toshiba site we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Before you start the update, close all programs that are running and your antivirus and firewall too.

In the worst cases, you need to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc. Maybe the virus did remove or change some important Windows or driver files

  • Shortcut has disappeared from the home screen

The shortcut for Photoshop Touch disappeared from my home screen. The application is installed, I can access it by going to settings > Apps, but I cannot start from there. Starti she, I have to go to the game store, locate the application and then tap 'open '. The article in the Knowledge Base for creating a shortcut is of no use. It says "Press the icon and drag it to the screen." Pressing on the icon in 'Apps' does nothing, and there is no way to 'slide on the screen' in all cases.

Have you tried to uninstall the application and put it back? Some of the application's files may be corrupted during the download if it is not installed correctly.

  • Shortcut icons disappear - Win 7 64 Pro

Recently, I installed Win 7 64 bit Pro on my PC with a new HARD drive that is partitioned C: for the system and programs and E: for data. HDD back, put in place in a similar way, has Win 7 64 bit Ultimate installed and did not have the problem described below.

On my desk, I have many shortcuts for programs that are installed on the C: Partition, in addition, five shortcuts that refer to the library of records related to E: Partition of data. I have confirmed that these five icons are addressing their E: locations. They are not broken links. They may well sit on the desktop, is not used for several days, but it only shortcuts to the icons of programs.

From time to time, these five specific icons disappear without apparent reason. Here today, gone tomorrow, kind of thing. No other icons are affected. I can't tie this action to a particular event, so I can't determine the cause.

Can someone please provide a fix for this annoying problem.

    Hi Nasho,

It seems to be a problem with missing or damaged system files, or due to the corruption of the user profiles. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. do you get any error code or error message while starting?

2 are you facing this problem after the installation of any program/app?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists. This is to check if the problem is caused due to any third-party program or app.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 2:

Run the Analysis System File Checker and check if it helps. This analysis will help you find and replace missing or corrupted system files.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Method 3:

Create a new user account and verify. This is to check if the problem is caused due to the corruption of user profiles or not.

    Create a user account:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=Windows-7

If the problem does not persist in the new user account, then try the steps in the following article from Microsoft Help to fix the damaged user profile.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=Windows-7

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can better help you.

  • Shortcut network disappeared from the Office of Windows7

    Hello
first of all sorry for my English, I'm Italian!

I'm a system for a small and medium business administrator. We are moving to Windows 7, because I think it's faster and more reliable than XP... but we have a little problem:
Any customer using a new PC running Windows 7 , are complaining of the same problem (but boring):
Some times generally (after the reboot, but not always) all the 'shortened network' disappear from office without reason.
With the word "shortcut network" I mean: link to the remote folder (folder on a network file server), link to computer from the network or link to my own connections (such as the VPN to my company)
An especially don't bind to the network resources are affected by this problem, [the desktop icon, the internal links, ore file icons, are not affected by this problem]

It happened to me also (on all of my 3 PCs) and I'm really surprised!
I found some forums with the same question:
    example 1 http://forums.techarena.in/operating-systems/1285630.htm
    Example 2 http://www.bdc-forum.it/showthread.php?t=91939
but all have not yet given a comprehensive response

    Can you help me?
    Best regards
    Giorgio

BossDweebe thanks for your quick response. Yes, I mean that!

In general I want to say "link on the desktop pointing to external resources" as:

    link to removabke USB pen
    link to the memory card
link to the computer from the network
link to the shared folder [not on my PC] network.

My idea was this link to clean periodically broken (or does not apparently) of windows from the desktop:

Without doubt, I found the solution for this problem:

You must click the Start Menu > Control Panel and then > go to system and security > administrative tools (bottom) > Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler (Local) (top left corner) > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > diagnosis >

(right pane) Right-click on planned > disabled

In the case of the active shortcuts then all desktop external drives such as card readers, usb, CD/DVD player and also Panel readers so items are deleted by Windows 7 when planning

  • BlackBerry Smartphones shortcut has disappeared

    Hello

My husband has the curve 8900 and had a shortcut for Pandora - but he "disappeared." I can't find it in all folders is that its in the list of applications.

I can't understand how to add a shortcut for this, or start the application without one.

Can anyone point me in that direction? I don't think he has more than 30 shortcuts in the screen area.

    1. on your home screen, press Menu > SHOW ALL, so that ALL DISPLAY is checked.
    2. look in EVERY folder on your device... Applications, instant messaging, downloads, and
If you don't see it still, look at the Options > advanced > Applications. Do you not see it listed there?

  • Shortcut bar disappeared in Photoshop Elements 10

I recently installed the free trial version of Photoshop Elements 10.

Today, I noticed that there are no shortcuts in the edit window bar.

In my view, a shortcut bar is supposed to be located just below the menu bar and above the options bar.  I think I had a shortcut bar earlier but it disappeared at some point.

I tried to reinstall the program, but there is still no shortcut bar.

Is it possible to make it reappear from the shortcut bar?

There is not shortcut bar. It is the appearance of the user interface. Click on the image to enlarge.

  • Windows 7 - all the desktop shortcuts have disappeared

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7100 evaluation version)

I was using my computer tonight (normal use, nothing happens out of the unusual, without errors or problems etc.). I shut down the system to go for dinner but later when I got to use again, I started it and connected but were none of my icons on my desktop. I got about 26 icons, 4 included shortcuts 'system' to the computer, the user files, network, trash.

When click with the right button on the desktop, the option is there to add a shortcut, navigation and selecting a file results in nothing, no shortcut is visible. When I go to my desktop to users home directory, in the following location: "C:\Users\loggedonusername\Desktop" most of the shortcuts is visible here (including those above, I added that resulted in anything on the desktop) and I can add more within this directory, but they also do not appear. The 'system' ones (computer, user files, network, trash) still show as checked in the menu of desktop customization, unchecking, reticking, change theme and other options does nothing to restore them on my desk.
Icons/shortcuts on the start menu are fine (visible and functional) - just nothing I try seems to show those on my desk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS - I did a full system scan with the AV, nothing, even with malware/spyware scanners software. I also did a scan with Windows SFC - audit was 100%, no violation error / integrity.

Most likely a minor bug with the CR. After execution of the RC for several months I am now facing two minor problems myself with the Explorer shell... (1) the window 'Opens' is enabled preview pane and no matter what I do, it is not off and (2) I had to rebuild my library because they had all kinds of mix upward on the folders they were supposed to point to (my library of music made for my photos, pictures sharp documents downloads pointed to a nonexistent drive, etc.). The good news? The RC is just the RC and is only temporary :-) Jonathan Matthis aka "7test" on MSN QnA
