Should I completely drain my laptop battery?

I have a Satellite A660 laptop. I read that you should completely discharge batteries every month so that the charger can recalibrate what is 0% and 100%. This applies to this laptop? It also means that disable the hibernation security feature when the load decreases by 8%. It does not mean that the heads of the disk block once cost matrices?

On the net, you can find many articles and discussions about this. In most cases, it is recommended using power supply battery only laptop battery discharge completely. Should not be 0% and in power options, you can set the action of critical-battery and critical battery level so this notebook can be turned off or hibernation before the battery is completely discharged.

I found a very interesting page on the battery maintenance and you can find it here.

    Laptop battery draining fast

I bought a new HP laptop there are 5 mountains. I had completely satisfied on the battery life to this day. The battery died just 4-5 hours without plugged. But these days the 100% charged battery cannot give the power up to 2 hours at least. I'm not saying that my battery drain too quickly. Most of the people said that our battery can not come at least 5-10 minutes once plugged on. My battery is dischrging 1% / minute. Hope this will be resolved for me. Sorry for my bad English.

Complaints about battery drain problems after upgrade to Windows 10 are everywhere on the web these days.  A lot of "try this" and "try" too.

It's a problem complicated because of all the variables, but let's hope solutions are forthcoming.

  • How to drain completely Satellite L50 - B battery

    Hi all
as I read on various internet guides it is useful to completely drain the battery once in a while, I want to do but not lol.
Saving settings of the advanced battery, there seems to be no option to perform this task. Specifically in the section 'battery', first option i.e. 'procedure for battery almost empty' (sorry if my English is not good here I'm tryin to translate Italian) you do not have an option like "don't do anything". I don't know if that is the question, but can someone tell me what I need to do to drain my battery?

    No one?

  • The laptop battery maintenance: conflicting advice in the Knowledge Base?

According to article MSW700073, taking care of your laptop batteryKnowledge Base, you should:

"Use your battery to keep it cool. Don't let your computer permanently connected. It's a good idea to discharge and then recharge your laptop battery once a month. In addition, you should let your battery run before that recharge you it. »

On the other hand, article Specifies how is battery meter? (no number; emphasis added):

"Most laptops use lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. Like most batteries, lithium-ion batteries gradually lose their ability to store energy as they get older, whether or not charge you. Over time, this change in storage capacity significantly affects the accuracy of the battery meter. If frequently drain you a lithium-ion battery, and then recharge it, it can quickly lose its ability to hold a charge, which affects the accuracy of the battery meter. The practice of completely draining the battery and then full charge is recommended which applied to batteries nickel-cadmium (NiCd) and, to a lesser extent, the nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries. Lithium-ion batteries last longer if you charge them often, a little at a time, to maintain a minimum load of about 40 percent capacity.

These statements seem contradictory.  Which is correct? If they are really contradictory, how do you get the incorrect an answer key?

    Thank you

Yes, it is true that computer end up by losing their properties, but they are still ok, it's a good idea to 'exercise' the battery now and again...

  • Laptop battery will work for many years if I run the laptop without it?

    Hello

Model No. - HP Pavilion dv6330ea laptop. Check out the link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3411896&

My operating system is Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Service Pack 2.

I use my laptop more than 20 hours a day. I have connected my laptop to the power adapter that connected to the ups (uninterruptible power supply) and from there it connects to the wall jack. Given that I have turn my laptop so long, so I removed my battery and put aside. Because I thaught if I have my battery is connected with my laptop, then life battery will decrease since I use my laptop for more than 20 hours a day. That's why I took off. I'm using this method for a few years.

I use my PC laptop battery only when I travel I make much less.

So I was wandering if it is good practice to remove the battery and run the laptop for power adapter?

My battery will be coming for many years or it will get cuttings due to not use it for a long time?

What is your opinion, to run the laptop with the battery or not - computer since I use my laptop more than 20 hours a day?

Please reply as soon as possible.

    Bye,.

    Siva

    Hi Siva,

It is certainly very well run Notepad on just the AC adapter.

Regarding the battery once a month, reinsert the battery, turn the machine on and let the battery fully charged.  Unplug the AC adapter and let the unit run until you start getting a "low battery" warning  Completely load it again, then let the battery drain to about 40%.  Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and store it separately in a cool place.  Repeat this procedure each month will help you keep your battery in good condition.

  • HP Pavilion 23-114: can I treat like a laptop battery (it is plug up to load then unplug this only paid)?

I just bought this in a pc.  It asserts that it is portable with battery to 2.5 hours.  Does this mean I can destroy the battery cells by keeping it loaded all the time?  I should treat it as a laptop?  Should I unplug completely loaded?  How can I tell when it is fully charged?  I don't see any battery anywhere level.  Thank you.

    Hello

All modern batteries now know when to stop to load and it will keep 100 percent up to disconnect the hand.  But if you want to learn how to keep them healthy, please read the following articles:

  • How to manually calibrate your laptop battery.

The wire of time, based lithium will slowly "forget" where are their points of 0% and 100% (this can be compounded if you use AC power constantly).  Thus, it is often good maintenance to manually calibrate the battery of laptop computer for optimal performance.  I suggest do it every two months.

    1. Fully charge the battery.
    2. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS.  You can then follow this article on execution of the test drive.  When running this test disconnect your laptop computer from its power source and leave the hard drive test to completely drain the battery.
    3. After that the battery is low, replace the AC power and charge the battery completely.
    4. Use the HP Battery Check to make sure that no futher problem is detected with your battery.

For more information on the batteries and calibration, please see this document.

  • Question about the laptop battery and satellite L510

I have a Toshiba Satellite L510 and find the battery moves a bit - like 2mm so be it.
It is on the edge of the laptop, I suppose, but I was wondering if there should be no movement at all?

    Hello

On my two laptops from Toshiba battery cannot be moved, but the battery is locked and cannot be moved or deleted.
Your laptop satellite battery is too locked?

By the way: when you use the notebook on the desk, this movement is irrelevant and cannot have a negative influence on the power supply for computer laptop battery s.

  • is it harmful to the laptop battery to turn on the AC for a long time?

    Hello

Thank you for reading my post.

Is - harmful to the laptop battery if I put the phone on during a long period on the current?

    Thank you

    Hello

    the answer is not simple.

The Lenovo powermanager should do the job for you.

Maybe you are able to load automatic loading in settings powermanager.

I Don t know if the option in the new versions of powermanager is chosen as standard.

Maybe it isn´t a switch or a checkbox, causing the Manager already does.

But it won´t affect your battery when you leave it plugged in AC.

  • Replace the internal laptop battery

    Hi all

I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 and at startup, I see the mistake of battery internal (601).

I tested the battery and the test failed, so I need to change the internal battery of my laptop.

Is there a guide to disassemble the laptop?

    Thank you

    Hello

You don't need to disassemble the laptop - battery which is broken is the one that clips into the base.  For more information, post back with the complete model number and your cell phone Nr - see here for a guide to the location of such information.

  • Laptop battery only charges to 79%. Think I've changed the settings earlier to save the battery of thea, but now want to 100% load again.

My laptop battery is ok, but still only charge up to 79%. And stop there. What should do? I changed the settings as soon as possible to save the battery, but now wants to load 100% again. I can't find where to change them back.

If you start in System Setup (BIOS) - before any loading of the operating system - and look at the section health and charge battery... What percentage watch battery is charged it?  What status?  If leave you it in the BIOS and let it load this way - it's 100% top?  If so - what happens when you start in Windows?

(Trying to confirm this, it is an error within the OS and not a hardware problem).

No, but understand this isn't a real HP battery. The working hypothesis is simply the ability of the cells. Watt hours. It does not affect the current quantity battery provides the laptop at all times.
